Title: correspondence with clive doyle
Post by: Mexicano Rojo on Thursday, October 25, 2007, 15:36:34
received email this afternoon
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Subject: Letter to Mr. Huddy 25.10.07
Date: Thu, 25 Oct 2007 15:58:32 +0100
From: [email protected]
To: [email protected]

Mr. Iain Huddy

25th October 07

Dear Mr. Huddy

It has come to my attention that you feel that the club is threatening to sue you for libel. Nothing could be further from the truth. We respect our fans and would not go down the road of sueing anyone for libel except of course in extreme cases and nothing that I have seen from items published by you fall within that category.

As the Safety Officer my sole intention is to deal with you fairly, taking on board all of the issues prevalent at the time that you received the Suspension Notice. For those people that it is necessary to ban there is a written tariff agreed with Wiltshire Police for all categories of misdameaners. Some club's ban for a prolonged period of time, but we at Swindon Town do so for a number of games depending upon the circumstances.

I am not prejudging your case and would once again ask that you make contact to arrange a meeting in order to discuss the issues. You would at that meeting be given the opportunity to proffer your views.

I do not mind whether you publish this letter as it is your decision as to whether others are party to your case.

Yours truly

Clive Doyle
Safety Officer

MY REPLY

Dear Mr Doyle,

Thank you for getting in touch with me and investigating my case. In reply to your email concerning the threat of libel, I am slightly confused as to why you mentioned the sheffield wednesday libel case in your last email? Its a great relief to know that I will not be sued for a throwaway comment on a predominately tongue in cheek forum.

I still cannot fathom why I was not allowed into the ground, at the Cheltenham match, I did not stand, I did not swear, yes I spoke to the Cheltenham directors and I also asked Sandy Gray questions, the same questions that have been asked time and time again in the local media. After speaking with the police this week, they have no knowledge of any incident.

As I live 125 miles away from the ground, it is difficult to travel  to Wiltshire on a Saturday morning after finishing work at 4am to then not get into the ground on more trumped up charges? I'm sure you will understand that without a guarantee of entry to the match the decision is a lot tougher.

I have declined offers from television, radio and newspapers to cover the "banning" story. The club does not need bad publicity in the wake of a new takeover. I do not want my club shown in a bad light hence my declining media coverage. I really do hope that both myself and Jamie can continue our support at the county ground and look forward to hearing from you soon.

regards

iain huddy

Why can't you have a chat on the phone about it, why does it have to be face to face 150 miles away from the town where you live?

Good news on the libel threat though fella.

Hope it all gets sorted.........

That is what is commonly known as a backtrack.

The cunts have egg on their face and are frantically trying to wipe it off.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

I get the impression they didn't think the two temporarily excluded (or whatever you want to call it) would:

a) Kick up a stink.
b) Be clever enough to fight their corner.

Looks like a backtrack/olive branch obviously things have been heated on both sides the past couple of weeks, and some hasty comments and decisions made. If exonerated would certainly be worth asking for a travel refund at minimum though

If you get let back in, can you make a point of asking Sandy the same questions but a little louder?

They dont seem to want to speak to me :D

Ive sent 4 or 5 emails to Clive Doyle with one reply asking me to describe myself :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:

Ben Lamberts been civil enough to reply and pass messages on,but unfortunatly I don't seem to be getting anywhere. Can't think why, maybe its because I dont have any media contacts or maybe they are searching through my 10,000 odd posts for sonething incriminating.

Still I'll plough on till I get some answers, whatever the outcome I dont think Ill be going back.I certainly wont be called into the club like some naughty School Kid.

It's good news they aren't threatening to sue except in extreme cases, even if it is a backtrack.

I can completely understand if Mex still feels pissed off, I would too.

Out of interest, are the club allowed to divulge that to you Ash?  Does it go against data protection rules?

So what about Yeovil ?
With due respect & deference etc, seems like Mex has now got them on the backfoot. (Love the bit about the club not needing negative publicity). that's good and all that but what about the other one of the town two ?!
Ok, his might not make such a good story in the papers rtc, but the club are also ignoring his letters etc.
What I am saying is that there are two cases of massive injustice here, & we should not let it drop til both are exonerated, apologised too & compensated.

Just go anyway. Wear a hat or something. You cant be arrested for it can you, as its a club ban not police?

I dunno what to do about it other than stay away, but it ain't right & they SHOULD get compensation. (I'm not saying they will, but they SHOULD)

I dont know what I would be compensated for.

I flogged the ticket and cycled to the game.

I had to buy Ben a couple of pints in the County, maybe I could claim two pints of Guiness.
