For sure and again they are pretty shite and haven't won much for years. I find their attendances beyond belief.

Just looked, 69,000 sell out every game

Didn't realise the sausage munchers loved their football so much.

Hardly shite are they though? That combined with the relatively cheap ticket prices compared with the UK and the shear number of people in that region mean it would be a disgrace if they got much less than they do. Absolutely massive club with a brilliant and glorious history, much like 1. FC Nuernberg.

Schalke - Dortmund is probably the biggest and best derby in Germany, between 2 of Germany's biggest teams.

Apart from Karlsruhe - Stuttgart obviously  8)

What I meant was they haven't won anything for years (other than the league in 2002). Despite how big the place is, the lack of recent success make the attendences very impressive. Cannot see that many other clubs in Europe could match this.

Similar to Arsenal, Sunderland and Newcastle in that respect then. I do like Schalke though, great tradition. Most of the 'big' teams in the Bundesliga pretty much sell out every home game, it's just that Schalke have one of the biggest stadiums in the country. In many ways I wish England would take a leaf out of the Germans' book when it comes to watching football.

An absolutely fabulous part of the world is Baden. Strassburg and Karlsruhe are pretty much either side of the Rhein.

Yes, you can remove the pitch from the stadium in order to cultivate it, so it has access to sunlight etc

Fucking hell Herman, I don't think you can really compare Arsenal with Newcastle and Sunderland in the 'lack of recent success' stakes. Its about 50 years since Newcastle won any sort of trophy, let alone the League (have they ever?), and didn't the Arse win the PL about 4 years ago??? Try comparing apples with apples next time

:D

Arsenal's success in recent years is similar to that of Schalke's, and they get 60,000 every game, similarly Newcastle and Sunderland get massive gates yet haven't achieved anything since before christ.

Better Scheissami?

I am sorry but there is no way Arsenal would get the gates that NUFC do if they hadn't won anything for decades
