Title: brasilian grand prix
Post by: lebowski on Sunday, October 21, 2007, 12:01:13
massa on pole, lewis second, kimi third, alonso fourth.

massa is almost certainly running light to control the race. i would have kimi as favourite to win this, but alonso has been there and done it all before.

this should make for good viewing, a great end to the best season i've ever seen.

I agree I believe Kimi will win, Massa can play a big part in not only the race but the world title as well. I should image Alonso second, Hamilton third

Kimmi win is good news for Lewis. Far better than an Alonso win anyway. I'll settle for a kimmi, Hamilton, Alonso 3 car pile up in the 1st corner please :)

I reckon they'll all crash into each other at the first corner and Hamilton will win the championship that way. That would amuse me somewhat.

The pressure got to him.  He started 2nd, but a good start by both Ferrari's put Hamilton into 3rd.  I think one of the Ferari's then blocked Hamilton thus allowing Alonso to take over Hamilton on the outside.

Then Hamilton got a bit of a rush to the head, and did some silly move, which then put him in 8th place.

He then went into 7th place,  then ITV decided to have 5 minutes worth of breaks.  Then wehen the breaks finished Hamilton was all of the sudden in 18th with engine problems

Stupid adverts

Damn it, looking at the lap times he isn't making much of an impression on the 3 places he needs to make (low 1:14s). Hard to tell because he might be a bit fatter on fuel. 33s in 22 laps he has to make up.

Only hope - retirements and everyone else has to use the option tyres yet.

ABA rules now apply to the WC. Annyone But Alonso :)

Well its good Ferrari won, as McLaren used underhand tactics during the season to gain an upperhand over Ferrari.

The Finn is boring however, but he did the job in the end and a worthy winner.

Perhaps Maclaren will not sort out their team.  If they were a team and not two individuals then they would of won.  By fighting with each other they lost the team the championship which is teh worst thing they could of done

They lost due to a bit of bad luck, and at the last race with the idiot decision not to bring Hamilton in 3 laps earlier.

Also, arguably, had they gone down the Ferrari (Shumi/Barrichello) route of having a definite #1 and a supporting driver they'd have won it, though probably with Alonso.

At the end of the day the man with the most wins is world champion

shame about the engine as i think he's have won it if it wasn't for that. Great drive by the Ferrari's though. They got it tactically right from the start. Hamilton had a good race apart from his early blip and he just didn't have enough time in the end. I think Mclaren made a mistake with the 3 stops for Hamilton as well. Oh well not to be for the second time this weekend. At least we finally have a British driver that looks very good though. It's long time since we last said that.

I used to watch in the era of Mansell, Piquet, Prost and Senna, those were great times. To a lesser extent I also watched Damon Hill a bit but not as avidly.

The Damon Hill days were great. Too young to remember the Mansell and Senna era really. This season has been good though. I'm always busy with my band on Sundays so i haven't seen much of it but today was a good race. Much better than it has been for a while especially now Shuie has gone.

Inquiry casts doubt on F1 title

BMW's cars held up Hamilton during the race
Kimi Raikkonen's world title has been thrown into doubt following an inquiry into the cars of BMW Sauber and Williams at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Race stewards are investigating alleged irregularites with the cars' fuel.

Williams's Nico Rosberg was fourth in the race, followed by BMW Sauber's Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld.

If they were disqualified, McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton would be promoted to fourth, giving him enough points to displace Raikkonen as world champion.

How can they protest? Alonso finished third in the same car with presumably the same fuel? Are McClaren admitting to using illegal fuel on only one of their cars? Best just accept defeat and admit that Hamilton fucked up royaly on the first lap.

Title: brasilian grand prix

But Alonso isn't involved in the Fuel saga, its BMW and Williams.

Nico Rosberg finished fourth in his Williams while the BMW duo of Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld were fifth and sixth.

Its those three drivers who allegedly breached fuel regulations.

Loving the FIA turning yet another blind eye to something that aids ferrari. The ferraris were completely head and shoulders above yesterday, but if there was wrong-doing further down the grid, it should be dealt with.

fair enough to mclaren for contesting the decision, bmw and williams have been bitching and winging all season about the super aguris and any other teams they could to try and get the results overturned. grrrrrrr

I have a couple of questions.

Why was their fuel illegal?

What punishment have they already received?

Is this really sport?  I really don't think it is.  F1 is awful nowadays.

Something to do with the temperature. It was colder therefore one full BMW tank could fuel the car for longer than one full McLaren tank.

fuel is denser at cooler temperatures so you can refuel quicker and it can give you 5-10 extra horsepower. In these cases it was a matter ot 2-4 degrees so the difference would be negligible. Still broke the rules but wouldn't have affected the outcome.

Given that both Maclaren drivers had been caught with Ferrari data, it is a bit hypocritical of them to complain

Does anyone have any more info about the gearbox gremlin that effectively ended Hamilton's chances?  All I can find is it went into neutral then fixed itself about 20 seconds later.  It's sounds dodgy as hell to me, usually if the gearbox goes AWOL that's it for the race.  Conspiracy theories welcome 8)

Not strictly true, it was never proved that the drivers were aware of the Ferrari documents or data related to them, and nor was it proved that the data was put to any use.

It was proved however that all of McLaren's design ideas were original and also proved that Ferrari won the Australian Grand Prix with an illegal car for which they were never docked points.

I think McLaren are only trying to make a point with the FIA more than anything else.

thats a good insight, however his mistake at the beginning played a big part, but was not considered.
I don't think Alonso will win the championship again as he looks to be on his way from Maclaren.
Next season unless the BMWs/Renualts improve it will between Hamilton, Kimi and perhaps Massa.

A few seasons in a couple of the teams would give the zoo animals water which was cooler than what regulations allow though.
