The bar is opening early in my halls for this one!
Hopefully we'll be able to go out and celebrate afterwards although I'd imagine most places in Central London will be packed by that point

people who call rugby "rugger" are the same type of people who call football "footy". and thats not a compliment

All dayer for me tomorrow, can't wait for it.

I was lashed for the games against Australia and France so I feel obliged not to risk breaking the pattern.

Its an outlet for the violent tendencies which lurk at some stage inside most men...much better to do it in a game form rather than have random punch ups.

I used to play at school, and was a decent enough scrum half, the kid I used to compete with for the jersey went on to play for and captain England, he was a tough little bugger who I regularly had punch ups with, try as hard as I might I could never quite finish him off....

I don't know why, but i picture someone who calls it 'rugger' as someone who wears brown brogues, pink/faded red jeans, that swing around the ankle area, and wears a Hackett polo shirt with a jumper tied loosely, albeit neatly, around the shoulders. No offence. :D

I have no interest in who wins, but I will probably watch it as I have watched a lot of the other world cup matches, should be an interesting match
The better team are South Africa, but that sure as hell doesn't mean they will beat you.

It's a bit dull. 14 minutes in and I've yet to see a move that involves more than two passes.

From England's point of view the duller the better.

Prime example of why video evidence isn't the answer to football's refereeing woes - even the tv ref can fuck up.

Well the best team won, but to be fair England played their part in a good final.  I think S Africa just played the same game style as England, but their class preailed.  Still fair play for England gettin into the final.

I just hope the English public and press dont start going on about the try that never was !

Lost 6-15. Never mind. you can't win every world cup. We gave them too many penalties and we never looked like scoring a try. But how much did that decision change the game? We had the momentum and it was a shame we didn't get that try as i thought we should have.

Post by: Bogus Dave on Saturday, October 20, 2007, 20:58:26
To be fair i dont think it was a try. Just before cueto grounds it, his fooot briefly, for a nanosecond, touches the line. He then raises his foot as he touches down. It sucks, but it was the right decision.

We didn't deserve to win at the end of the day, lack of discipline cost us, and we only broke through them once in the whole match. I cant be too dissapointed though. After our last match against the saffies their were many who believed we wouldn't even get past the group stages, so to get to the final is a real acheivement. What we need to do now is not make the same mistakes as after the last world cup. We can't bask in our glory, and changes still need to be made. But the england performance in tghe knock-out stages has made me very very proud to be english.

Thats basically why it kicked off. someone mentioned fiji and then cyprus concerning their 'footy' side and they took offence to it. they were just trying to hide their embarrassment

No...proof would be a picture of his foot touching the line - which that is not! I honestly couldn't call it, it was too close. However, those who have said they would support S. Africa because England are boring and don't score tries can eat their words tonight. England lokoed just as likely to score tries as the Springboks tonight and although it was a bit scrappy the game was genuinely exciting.

Couldn't believe the Irish guys watching who were provocatively supporting S. Africa though - I put it down to jealousy  :D

I didn't really expect us to beat SA and they were the better team so fair play.

But what really made me angry was the sight of that fat, smug twat Gordon Brown milking the limelight and shaking hands with the players after the game. He's not even fucking English FFS !!!

I totally agree, just what you need when you've just given your all for your Country, but lost a World Cup Final, be greeted by a smiling prick trying to shake your hand.

To be fair to Gordon Brown, he would have been criticised for not being there as well.  Sarkozy was there, as was that South African fella who refuses to believe there is a link between HIV and AIDS.  I'm just happy we don't compete as Great Britain as we do in Rugby League.  That would be crap.

Fucking hell, you're damned if you do, you're damned if you don't.

You moan when the Scots don't support you, you moan when they do.  The bloke, like him or hate him, is still the political leader of england and had a right to be there.
