Who's up for it?

If enough people gather up in Town centre pubs, get a bit lairy, then OB will arrange for you to march to the CG....save on bureaucracy.

I'm still up for it and will attend if it happens with a couple of mates. But obviously living in flood city and working in Bristol means I can't really help out with the plans but I will lend my support where I can.

What plans do we need to make?

Why can't a bunch of Swindon fans meet up and all walk to the match together?

Or am I being naive?

38 people on line. Only four who want to go ahead.

I'm starting to think Mex is right....................

You'll need a route. You'll need to inform the police. You'll need a time. And erm, food and drink whilst people convene beforehand.

That's it.

Can you sticky this?

Although with the response so far, I don't think we'll need to advise the police.

And a packet of crisps should do us........................

And you'll need marshalls/stewards along the route if you want to comply with the law.

Steve, I'm not being funny but you can't just throw this sort of thing together any more. We're too smothered with rules, regulations and H&S.

A march has to be organised properly and arranged with the relevant authorities otherwise you will end up making them very annoyed. It is also bad PR in terms of being seen as disorganised and to be honest it is too late now in terms of getting enough media coverage and people along.

We stood a chance with the momentum we had up until this afternoon but I think if you tried to crank it up it would backfire.

Wait until the Doncaster match.

That gives us two weeks (and plenty of time) and I will be more than happy to organise it either "officially" for the Trust or - fuck it - unofficially if it looks like we have another Sturrock wheel out. And the (another?) MR protest too.

Like it!!

As you said, piss easy to do and little organising.

Alan. I have to listen to what you say in this, as I've got no experience of organising anything larger than a works Christmas do :D If you ascertain it's no longer feasible I'll have to accept it.

But if the situation is the same after Saturday, we have to go for it all guns blazing and I'll help in anyway I can.

I think if the situation is the same after Saturday the march will be back on and probably better than before.

Especially if Bovril does his pat-a-cake

Alans right (and I bet he's just fallen over at that statement).
This needs to be done correctly or we're just playing into the hands of Diamandis and living up to his idea of 'a few idiots' Proper planning following a short postponment will have a greater and more desired effect.

For the record Alan, I have finally turned, my head is well and truley out of the sand and I'm willing to lend support in any way I can.

Shall we throw everything behind the magic roundabout and after game stuff for now then?

I'm going to watch some Rolf Harris and Art Attack to get some ideas for banners  8)

Fair play Kev.

I think most fans now agree that the last straw has been carried away by the storm.

Anyway, I'm not the sort of person to say "I told you so but you wouldn't listen."

But I told you so but you wouldn't listen  :P  :D

Alan, I'll be at any protest, and I'll lend a hand if you need some help with organising.

As an aside, I can't help feeling we've lost a big opportunity for Saturday (I know there's nothing we can do about it now). The momentum was there, we had potential for large numbers especially for the march through town - something I believed rattled the club more than the 'bog-standard' protest outside the Arkells. When protests start needing the help of the police to organise the club must have realised that this was a whole new ball game (if you excuse the pun)

I just think the bad PR generated regarding the about-turn of 'we're marching this sat but now we're not' and that 2 weeks gives ample time for reflection in some peoples minds will have a significant negative impact on numbers.

I have been thinking ? The way i see it now, a large protest at the back of the Arkells will make it a lot easier & more certain for a march before the Donny match. If people see that it isn't just 30-40 busy bodies then they will be much more confident in turning up for a march. One of the critical things about people turning up, is that they need to know that they won't look stupid, by being just one of a few. In some cases people are just too angry to care, but most prefer to be part of a crowd.
