I have a bad feeling about this, but then again I'm a pessimistic geezer. Title: Georgia v Scotland Post by: sonic youth on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, 17:03:46 have i ever told you about my georgian father?
Title: Georgia v Scotland Post by: janaage on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, 17:04:51 no please do, did he swim from Georgia to Ireland?
Title: Georgia v Scotland Post by: sonic youth on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, 17:06:11 my father suffers from multiple personality disorder, one personality is irish and the other is georgian (or other former soviet states depending on his mood), so to keep him happy we play along with his harmless delusions.

Title: Georgia v Scotland Post by: janaage on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, 17:16:09 Like the respect Spud, fair play.
Not been the best start at all. Although having said that McFadden should have scored already. Title: Georgia v Scotland Post by: janaage on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, 17:17:03 fuck.
Title: Georgia v Scotland Post by: Spud on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, 17:20:11 Who is the Scottish number 5?
Because he needs shooting for the lack of marking for that goal. Title: Georgia v Scotland Post by: stfctownenda on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, 17:20:13 Quote from: "janaage" fuck. I know early days but they're going to have to massively improve to get anything here. Come on lads!!! Title: Georgia v Scotland Post by: Luci on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, 17:22:40 Scotland have far more pride wearing their shirt than England do.

Title: Georgia v Scotland Post by: janaage on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, 17:23:45 It's lucky I have 100% faith that we will beat Italy at Hampden!!

i read somewhere that james mcfadden has been backed down from 66-1 to 12-1 to win bbc sports personality of the year. i imagine he'll be getting a lot of votes from north of the border. Title: Georgia v Scotland Post by: blinkpip on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, 18:20:53 1-0 to the Georgia.

I'm going to put some money on the Jocks beating the Ukraine. Title: Georgia v Scotland Post by: stfctownenda on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, 18:52:05 Fucks sake beat the big teams with inspirational performances and then put in a gutless display against a Georgian team full of kids.
We really missed Scott Brown, Hutton and Naysmith tonight, players like Alexander, Murty just don't cut it for me. Although I must remember we Scotish never do things the easy way so will have to settle for a home win against Italy, as crazy as it sounds I'm still hopeful :) Title: Georgia v Scotland Post by: janaage on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, 18:54:29 I honestly think we have a good chance against the Italians at home. Tonight we were always going to struggle for me, it had disaster written all over it.
A packed Hampden shaking to the foundations may prove inspirational against the world champions!! Keep the faith. I still remain positive strangely as most people wont give us a hope in hell. I think it will help us that we have to win, if we had only needed a draw we would have approached the game too cautiously. Hopefully Hampden will be a couldren again and the fans will roar us onto victory. They have still done us proud in qualifying no matter what and I would of took going into the last game with a chance of qualifying in a home game. So fingers crossed still onwards and upwards! Title: Georgia v Scotland Post by: Stef Troll on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, 18:59:11 In a strange way, losing may have benefited Scotland. If Scotland won tonight, then thet would have only needed 1 point to qualify. They probably would have set out their stall to keep a clean sheet, and try and score a goal on the counter.
Now they know they have to beat Italy to qualify, so they should go out with a positive attitude from the start Title: Georgia v Scotland Post by: janaage on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, 19:00:57 I agree I'm more positive having to win then if we had to turn up sit back and go for a point. We'd have blown that.
The dream lives on, hampden can roar us on to victory. Now where can I find tickets???????? Title: Georgia v Scotland Post by: Matchworn Shirts on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, 19:03:58 I thought Scotland were poor, but they may still do it. Do they need to beat the wops
Title: Georgia v Scotland Post by: janaage on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, 19:10:14 Scotland were awful tonight problem was Fletcher and Ferguson didn't want to put a tackle in cos they were scared of missing the Italy match, McFadden almost tried to win the match on his own, Kenny Miller went missing, Murty and Alexander weren't up to scratch, or should I say aren't international standard and Steven Pearson is fucking shit.
Leaving Weir, McManus and Gordon to try and keep the Georgians out and Maloney trying to run at the Georgians at every opportunity. We were doomed from the off tonight. Hampden will be a different story. Title: Georgia v Scotland Post by: Bennett on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, 19:17:52 fletcher looked fucking awful. murty should be getting the tea for that team. i thought the midfield and wingers were no where near enough to miller and mcfadden so they had no where else to go but wind down alleys filled with about 3 georgians (ohhh errr)
Title: Georgia v Scotland Post by: janaage on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, 19:22:15 As the guys on Sportscene said if at the start of the qualifying period you had said beat Italy at home and you qualify 99.9% of Scottish fans would have taken that.
Our destiny is in our hands. With players like Brown, Hutton, Ferguson Fletcher, McFadden, Miller, Gordon all 100% (touch wood) and raring to go we'll have a chance. In Fletchers defence that was his forst competitive game since the French away match, he's not fit, but he tried, that's all that counts in my book. May have been a mistake to play him, but it was a gamble worth taking. Title: Georgia v Scotland Post by: Bennett on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, 19:28:59 i'd rather be in your position than england's position tbh.
i really dislike fletcher, i know he wasn't fit but i really don't rate him. most of the scottish team i do though Title: Georgia v Scotland Post by: janaage on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, 19:32:57 To be fair he raises his game for Scotland, I think he does well for us. I can see why Man Utd fans aren't so keen though.

Title: Georgia v Scotland Post by: dell boy on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, 20:19:43 France still being held by Lithuania 0-0 at home.
Title: Georgia v Scotland Post by: dell boy on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, 20:37:06 Henry two goals in a minute 80th & 81st minute. Unlucky Scots.
Title: Georgia v Scotland Post by: Summerof69 on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, 21:04:54 At the end of the day, it's in their hands, unlike England, but the Italians are very good at drawing matches.
Title: Georgia v Scotland Post by: Scot Munroe on Thursday, October 18, 2007, 08:36:47 we missed Scott Brown badly last night he is the link between the midfield and attack. Fletcher shud not of played he was not match fit and why was he playing on the right side of the midfield. What made it worse last night was Lithuania holding on 80 mins the Henry scoring 2 in a minute.

He is now a key player in the Scotland team not one of the other midfielders can cover as much ground as him, he also has a big influence on the game as when he flies around into tackles he boosts the team and the crowd. I really hope he will be 100% by the time Italy comes around. Title: Georgia v Scotland Post by: Bob's Orange on Thursday, October 18, 2007, 10:43:58 My mate who goes to most of the games had some conspiracy theory that Uefa have instructed referees to be bioust towards the bigger teams to make sure the best teams get to the finals. Hence why the German ref didn't give them a stonewall penalty.
I found this hilarious! Great trip ruined by a fucking inept performance from Scotland. Georgia wanted it way more than we did. Fletcher wasnt fit, and Murty was fucking terrible. Stonewall penalty in the first half and the second should was supposed to be a pen as well!

Wouldnt bloody suprise me, especially after the "unseeded" play off draw in 2002 where all the top seeds magically got drawn against the bottom seeds, and after making us reply the game that never was when the rules clearly state that we should have been awarded the win. Oh well, a nice 1-0 at home on my birthday and all will be well. |
