I love the double standards coming out on this one.  Don't see the Liverpool fans forgiving the Yorkshire police or the Sun and they didn't mean to cause any trouble.  The scousers started a riot that led to 39 deaths,  the italians are bound to be pissed off!

Without wishing to generalise, the italians can be complete cowards and often go for small groups or stab people in the back from a moped.  Hopefully they will manage to stick together out there.

I understand that people are bound to be pissed off, but you have to understand that what the Liverpool fans did was purely an accident as well.  They 'ran' the Juve fans into a corner (the same as many teams fans have done in the past, including Swindon's), and unfortunately the wall collapsed.

Also, please don't stick up for The Sun.  They ignore the truth for a story, whatever damage it may do.

R4E - That's not a very good arguement is it.  Italians were killed whether the scousers meant it or not. The second leg will be very interesting!!

Drink driving is willingly endangering others lives.  There is no way they could have possibly known the outcome of their actions that night.  They are still to blame, but that is a ridiculous comparison.

You have to say well done to Liverpool or everything they did to promote friendship between the two clubs, They couldn't have done any more and the Juve fans obviously weren't going to listen whatever was said!

I can see why the Italians would be annoyed, upset etc about Heysel. Who wouldn't be. But that was like 20 years ago and surely the time comes when you have to forget these things.

I think it was disgraceful how they shouted and chanted through the minute's silence, especially as it was in memory of THEIR PEOPLE!

They have to see that Liverpool know how bad that was. Liverpool were punished, English football was punished, and they have done all that is possible to make up for it.

Plus UEFA should never have held the final in a 30,000 crumbling stadium anyway...

Italians don't do minute's silences.  When a famous Italian player dies during their "minutes silences" are minutes of chanting the players names and clapping and generally making as much noise as possible.  I'm not sure if that is what happened yesterday though.

English clubs were quite rightly banned from Europe. Just about every British club was going mental on the continent.

Leeds and Glasgow Rangers were both given 2 year bans. But football was a bit different then, supporters were travelling to support clubs other than their own (and riot).

As for the Italians reaction, I say fair enough. A lot of them probably knew people who died at Heysel. I thought the reaction was pretty mixed anyway. Bear in mind that was Juve's most hardcore supporters so the reaction maybe more conciliatory in Italy.

Not that I care anyway.

i'm not bothered about what Juve fans think of Liverpool's efforts, I;m just concerned about what might happen in Turin!

Apparantly (off screen) 5 scousers with Juve gear on walked up to the away section with friendly messages on a flag. They got coined to such an extent they had to run.
