Title: TRUST Mandate
Post by: Phil_S on Thursday, October 11, 2007, 16:38:23
As I understand it the TRUST can't back the protests until given a mandate by the members.
As the meeting on Monday is Not a TRUST meeting as such will we still get a vote on this. We can't wait until Saturdays meeting can we?
I'm sure the TRUST board have already thought about this, but I think we've got to get this sorted asap

i thought the meeting was a trust meeting (i.e. organised by them) but was open to all fans (although non-members can't vote). now i'm confused.

That's what I thought - Trust meeting open to all, non members won't be able to vote on any mandate that is/isn't agreed...

It's an open meeting organised by the TRUST. There is a TRUST meeting Saturday after as well, so I am slightly confused. It doesn't really matter, but we need that mandate in place & so a vote needs to be held at some point in time. Could it be done by e-mail?

It is an open meeting for all STFC supporters regardless of if you belong to the trust / SC or not, it is organised by the Trust as a meeting to discuss what we can do to try and help save our football club.

Phil raises legitimate points actually.

As rule master general so to speak, we should invite electronic vote by the membership, and also supplement this by asking any members
present on Monday that have not voted via e mail or via the trust site to vote at that point.

That way we can deliver in a result at that meeting.

Ill make sure everything is set up accordingly

To be honest, I really don't see anyone having a problem with us taking a mandate from a meeting of Town fans. If it becomes a particular issue, we take a show of hands on the night from Trust members at the meeting. In terms of email feedback etc, we already have responses coming in from members who are unable to attend and I will do the same as we have done at previous Trust meetings by reading those out/summarising them to ensure they form part of the debate before any vote is held.

Unless the Trust is financially backing the protest, I don't see what the problem is, surely the Trust board will just be acting individually?

I can't see any Trust member voting against action but I wouldn't be at all surprised if the club accuse the Trust board of acting without their members approval is a vote isn't carried out.

We have a precedent with the Railway Museum meeting last year - we stated in advance that we would act on what the meeting (which was also an open Fans' Forum) decided on as a course of action, we took several votes and acted upon those votes. Please let's not overcomplicate this by creating a problem where there isn't one.

The issue of the TRUST getting a mandate is the least of our worries. I'm more concerned that by Monday the meeting will be too late.
