I don't think slating pook is very fair at all, he might have been caught out a couple of times but did ok.

No-ones slating Tozer are they considering he scored the own goal. That was the most costly!

Pook was largely to blame for their second goal ...

brillaint, I decide to talk about something else other than the financial plight and I get slaughtered, because obviously if I talk about anything else I am less of a fan. Good attitude Fatbury.

Forgive me for wanting to express an opinion on a froum.

Jesus f*cking wept.

I went to the game last night and thought Pook was sh*t. You don;t have to agree with me, that's what a forum's for, expreessing opinions, but don't dare question my support you f*cking idiot.

Pook was out of position. It was a failed expiriment. End of. Much better when he went into the middle of midfield. Booing his every touch is cuntish.

Did we or did we not have a mainly reserve side out .. and did Cheltenham have about 9 players that started on Saturday ?? The result was inevitable .. the game meant more to Cheltenhams caretaker manager than it did to Sturrock ..

Jesus Christ. Calm down.

Some agree with you some don't whats the problem?

No-one has mentioned the takeover at all in this thread either!

Think you are being a bit melodramatic.

Title: Someone tell Pook...
Post by: juddie on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, 10:41:25
Agreed, booing is not clever. But I did think he was a weak link, firslty at the back (although the whole back line looked weak, comminges aside) and then in midfield - his distribution was awful. It must be hard when the crowd turn on you however, especially as a Swindon fan.

It looked at one stage as if we were going to get trounced, there was a five-minute spell when our defence looked really ropey.

McGovern was absolutely immense IMO.

sorry STFCLady - just took offence at Fatbury's ridiculous comment. I don't mind people disagreeing with me, I do mind people suggesting I don't give a sh*t about what's going on because I decide to talk about something else!

I still think that team had enough to deal with cheltenham - just that we defended poorly - a two goal defecit is a big mountain to climb.

Even brezzer looked a bit shaky I thought?

Title: Someone tell Pook...
Post by: Luci on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, 10:45:40
Thats fair enough but its not like everyone disagreed.  I just didn;t think Pook wasn't the worst man on the pitch thats all.

I think Tozer gets away with any slating as hes young - which isn't really fair as if Roberts had turned the ball into his own net we wouldn;t have heard the end of it!

I thought Brez wasn't at his best and the backline was horrendous.

Wasnt questioning you as a fan Juddie but surely you must see slagging off players doesnt help them .. and Pook was by no way the worst last night ...

Title: Someone tell Pook...
Post by: juddie on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, 10:50:27
It must be awful for pookie's family when the crowd boos, they're all townies aren't they? Thing is I'm not suggesting that he's sh*t, I'm saying I thought he was poor last night.

His distribution was dreadful. I thought the back line was poor, they really caused us problems with balls into the channels. But when we switched it round, with zabooub to left back, comminges to right and pook into misdfield, it worked better. Damage was done by then unfortunately.

McGovern was MOM by a country mile.

I hammered Blair as well and then he scored and had a header saved!

Why not criticise? Booing doesn't help for sure and I wouldn;t condone that, but discussing a players' performance after a game is areet in my book. If he had a good game I'd say so, but he didn;t last night.

I didn't recognise blackburn without his beard...

Title: Someone tell Pook...
Post by: fatbury on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, 10:55:00
I admit that Pook didnt have his best game .. but like ive said understrength team v almost first choice was always going to be like this .. why did people expect more??

Have to admit tho im a bit touchy when it comes to Pook cos I think its disgusting the treatment he gets from the fans at times ... and add to that list Sofienne, Christian Roberts and Blair Sturrock .. none of them deserve it as they ALWAYS try their best ... im sure most will agree ..doesnt always come off for them but they DO try ...

Title: Someone tell Pook...

second goal looked like poor postional play from blackburn.first goal pook was drawn into the middle for some reason, then a player came down their left and scored.whether pook was picking up a man in the middle at the time i dont know.if not then he is to blame for that one imo.
for me mohamhead was the worst player on the park, tozer will be a fine cb i think with experience

Title: Someone tell Pook...
Post by: juddie on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, 10:57:57
I thought comminges did ok? looked a lot stronger than the last time I saw him play. He got stuck in and kept it simple - he's still a bit rough around the edges but he looked very coimmitted I thought. Pook looked lost at right back got got better in midfield, but there was one pass, with his left foot across midfield, that kicked off the boos. He must get nervous every time he tocuhes the ball when that happens - I would. Booing sucks.

Title: Someone tell Pook...
Post by: Arriba on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, 11:00:46
the boos started after the first goal whenever he had the ball.they then scored again quite quickly and the boos increased in volume.
the morons are waiting for the slightest misplaced pass or anything to slate the fella.others make mistakes and they get no stick at all, ie comminges's aimless passes last night

Title: Someone tell Pook...
Post by: juddie on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, 11:03:49
I expected to win even with that team, I must admit. My concern was where the goals were goling to come from, Mohammed had a good chance and blair, while I think he's weaker than the likes of paynter and cox, took goal well and had a chance to equalise. But McGovern and easton are good enough to deal with cheltenham - even pook who has been a first team regular until now. The team beat brentford so why not cheltenham?

Title: Someone tell Pook...
Post by: juddie on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, 11:11:07
one question: if we got fined for fielding a weakened team against Brentford - will we do so again for last night? and if we don't, doesn't that make a mockery of the brentford fine in the first place?

wasn't he pretty good against brentford? if so then perhaops he deserved to start - but he and blackburn were poor last night. good experience for him tho.

I think you have to bear in mind hes 17 - his 2nd appearance.. playing against first choice Cheltenham forwards - behind a makeshift midfield alongside a 2nd choice centreback who didnt have an awful lot more League experience than him.

Yes he made some mistakes but did some good things too ... but Im sure hes learnt from those mistakes as a result of last night and I think in time he actually has some real potential ...

Now it's my turn to disagree  :D  Blair did what he always does, gave 100%. Yes he has limitations but no complaints from me.

But his goal was one of the funniest I have seen for some time. He half scuffed a shot at about 2mph towards the keeper. I was mid "for fuck's sake" sentance when the keper kind of turned into speghetti arms at his near post letting the ball in. Even I'd have been embarassed at that one!

Post by: juddie on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, 11:22:30
ha ha -  so did my dad, but I think the keeper was caught napping because it was an opportunist hit - Blair shot quicker than the keeper expected him to. Still, he should have dealt with it. Shame we couldn't get the equaliser, I really thought we would.

We had our chances but didn't take them.
I was disappointed with some of JP's crossing, very poor.

Zaboub on the other hand put a fair few good balls in.

Blair isn't anywhere near the standard we need.  He njust doesnt seem to have a strikers brain and its always a second too slow in making the run for flick ons/through balls.  Beaten every time.

Title: Someone tell Pook...
Post by: juddie on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, 11:26:10
Not sure if it's the brain, just think he lacks the strength of say, paynter, and the speed of cox. But agreed, I'm not sure if he's up to the standard required. Saw Barry Corr last night, he'll be back soon n all.

Title: Someone tell Pook...
Post by: Luci on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, 11:28:03
Yeah I saw Corr too.

Blair wise, he just seems to look gawmless when the ball comes anywhere near him and doesn't really seem to know what to do from a strikers point of view.  Seems keener to lay it off to someone else and sit back a bit too much.

blairs alright from the bench to run at tired defences.we all know what we get from him now 100% application and effort but the final strike and lack of physical presence is his let down.

i'd still pick him before mohamhead who offers nothing imo,and he doesn't desrve to get booed

Arkells first half, up top as left it too late to get decent seats

2nd half just behind the family area to the left of the box.

posted a similar comment earlier, but I thought the booing of pook was disgraceful. Fair enough people have their opinions. Express them to your mate next to you, or after the game. Don't boo your own players when they touch the ball, or blame them for goals which weren't their fault - i.e the second was not on pooks side of the pitch, or boo them when they are subbed. What the hells that going to achieve except to lessen the confidence of a player who is trying their best for the team to reach the same goals as the rest of the players, managment team and fans - to win the game.

I think Blair is fine for L2 but in L1 he does seem out of his depth, Pook does not deserve to be booed, he started the season well and was getting praise, then he get's dropped and he get's stick when he plays, wouldn't surprise me to see him leave for a certain L2 team in exchange for the remainder of the fee for a certain winger we signed from them

Pook, Adams and Sturrock are worthless now and only bring the overall quality of our squad down.

Hell, I thought young Chris Allen did better when he came on than Pook and Adams did.

If Tozer is 'the' promising youngster, I'd hate to see our other, more average ones.

How Adver gave him MOTM I dont know.

it is funny how we all see the game differently innit..guess thats what forums are for tho a?

i thought zaboub was woeful and there's no way he should be getting back in the starting 11 on that form.

i actually think mo will be a better player than blair given time (mo has a better 1st touch imo and more pace about him)but was embarrassed to hear boos when they announced the goal scorers name.

pook had a blinding start to the season as is a confidence player, so after spending the last few games on the bench, you could see he was out of touch (bit like his passes )

the back 4 were poor (particularly the line they kept when chelt had the ball) and it could've have been a cricket score.

kinda feel cheated when we put out a 2nd string as its the sort of comp we should've gone far in and its not like you're playing 10 games before you get to the final is it. With no game this weekend, we should have fielded a stronger side and i'd bet that most of the players that sat that one out would have wanted to play e.g. look at cox enthusiasm when he came on.

i guess i'll just have to wait til may to visit the new wembley.........where i've got guaranteed tickets for the fa cup final

DV - what an arrogant opinionated statement "Pook, Adams and Sturrock are worthless now and only bring the overall quality of our squad down". Granted Paynter and Cox are in better form at the moment but Sturrock can do a job for the first team coming on from the bench and Adams and Pook will have their moments in a long hard season.

Worthless! - bit harsh. Paul Sturrock was trying out some options because of the injuries that the defense have had. Pook didnt work out at full back. He knows that now. Collectively, the team didnt gel with the changes that were made and individuals had poorer games as a result. No reason for booing or 'worthless' comments.

I think we'll see Comminges, Ifill, Vincent and Zaboub against Tranmere unless Collins recovers in time. Blackburn or Tozer would need to cover.
