Title: Swindon V Cheltenham Post by: Luci on Monday, October 8, 2007, 12:59:33 Day early I know but as we have to play a stronger team, I'd still imagine some players will be rested, question is who?
Is Tozer injured or will he get another shot, also possibly Blackburn & Mohammed? Interesting to also see Cheltenham have just signed Alan Wright set to play for them tomorrow against us. Think hes a bit past it IMO. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/cheltenham_town/7033541.stm Title: Swindon V Cheltenham Post by: Batch on Monday, October 8, 2007, 13:06:14 I'd imagine either Roberts or JPM will be rested for Zaboub, Cox and/or Paynter for Mohammed/Arrietta/Corr(surely a bit soon for him). Possibly Pook to start instead of Easton/Peacock?
What are the rules again about how many changes we can make? Title: Swindon V Cheltenham Post by: Ralphy on Monday, October 8, 2007, 13:12:31 I don't agree with this 'you can only make so many changes rule'.
The manager picks the team not the fucking FA. The manager picks the team not the fucking FA. It's down to sponsorship - no-one would be interested in paying to sponsor a competition for youth teamers. It is an annoying rule, but without it I don't think the competition would exist much longer. As for the team I'd quite like to see Kaid start or at least given 30 minutes. Even though this tourney is a mickey mouse cup, it was a chance for the club to progress to the latter rounds of a tournament - with the added incentive of going to Wembley. 8 changes seemed a bit drastic considering the fact we dont have another game for a week and a half. Fair enoigh Sturrock doesnt want our best players injured, but why would he play someone like JPM then ?. Im guessing Sturrock will say its a good work out for his frindge players, but with the club in its current financial ruin, a cup run would have done no harm at all. Title: Swindon V Cheltenham Post by: West Country LaLaLa on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, 10:02:49 As a town end regular I've now decided I've had enough of many of the morons in there and won't be going in there again.
thought booing pook was absolutely disgraceful, it was his fault for the first goal - slipped and was punished for it. Cue moronic booing and endless shouting/swearing/laying into pook. 2nd goal - poor defensive play all round (on the left side), shot comes in (which brez could well/and should well have saved). Cue moronic booing and shouting at pook even though he wasn't even on that side of the pitch! Pook is not a right or left back, never i think played in these positions before and it showed - a mistake on sturrocks part. But for god sake, give him a break for it. The endless abuse he gets is enough to make any player feel really s**t about themselves - is that going to help their performance?! No! Pook played a much better game when he moved into the midfield (a role he has recently played very well in and clearly a role he feels more confident in). I wonder if these idiots who put so much effort into barracking a player on the pitch are as vocal against the board off it (as should be the case). Title: Swindon V Cheltenham Post by: Luci on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, 10:06:15 I'm glad I didn;t go in the TE in the end. Just goes to show the mindless morons still exist in there.

Title: Swindon V Cheltenham Post by: Spencer_White on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, 10:39:06 I also think these players are facing the possibility that all this months work will be for F-all money, people should remmember that.
I didnt hear much booing of Pook, but I did hear a bit of the Blair abuse. To be honest, I think people have a right to be upset that we paired up two reserve strikers. I can understand the frustration, people want to see goalscorers. Surely Cox should have played at least? Poor decision by Sturrock for me, should have given the game more respect. And weve still never beaten Cheltenham. Title: Swindon V Cheltenham Post by: fatbury on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, 10:40:43 at the end of the day Blair scored and Kaid has to play some time ...
Title: Swindon V Cheltenham Post by: Luci on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, 10:47:48 we made 8 changes to start with. Found it a bit concerning as not sure if that is classed as a strong enough team?
Title: Swindon V Cheltenham Post by: fatbury on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, 10:49:24 I certainly expect another fine ..
Title: Swindon V Cheltenham Post by: Spud on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, 11:14:22 I don't understand why we didn't put out a near enough League starting eleven considering we haven't got a game at the weekend!
As soon as i saw Blair Sturrock and Kaid Mohammed upfront i knew we weren't going to win. Title: Swindon V Cheltenham Post by: Bogus Dave on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, 11:35:14 Mohammed was our best player imo, was the only one to play with any sort of urgency. Pook did ok when he moved into centre mid, but was still nothing special. And how the fuck can the adver give tozer motm!?!? he was fucking diabolical.
Town end atmosphere was fucking awful aswell. all the 14 year olds moving over form the nationwide, can you please fuck off. That higgs chanting was getting on my fucking tits :x And you cant call someone a fucking uselsess cunt without a group of 13 chavs looking round at you in amazement and pissing themselves with laughter :x :x Title: Swindon V Cheltenham Post by: Toni on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, 11:38:50 Quote from: "fatbury" I certainly expect another fine .. No i don't think we will. Listening to BBC Radio Swindon after the game Luggy said that they had to ring the FL yesterday morning and ask if they could field a weakened team as we have lots of injuries at the minute. Title: Swindon V Cheltenham Post by: fatbury on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, 11:43:25 oh well thats something ... stupid we got fined first time around
Title: Swindon V Cheltenham Post by: Spencer_White on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, 11:48:53 Quote from: "fatbury" at the end of the day Blair scored and Kaid has to play some time ... Wrong. At the end of the day were out of the competition because we lost. And quite badly. And Kaid doesnt HAVE to play sometime. In fact, every part of that post was wrong! Title: Swindon V Cheltenham Post by: Spud on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, 11:54:34 Of course Kaid can play.........in the reserves that is.
Pook will get the benefit of doubt as he was playing out of position at right back although he did well there when he came on against the Jills last Saturday. Title: Swindon V Cheltenham Post by: Chubbs on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, 12:01:29 I thought Kaid looked promising today, He's like shit off a shovel.
I think the whole team was pretty much a shambles today bar JPM, Ming and Kaid Title: Swindon V Cheltenham Post by: sonic youth on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, 13:59:49 i thought kaid was pretty impressive. jpm, pook and blackburn played pretty well too.
woeful performance though! I thought pook did OK playing CB......who was out RB last night? I never saw anyone there for the first 20 minutes Title: Swindon V Cheltenham Post by: sonic youth on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, 14:05:18 pook started at right-back, tozer and blackburn in the middle, comminges on the left.
zaaboub switched to left-back, comminges went to right-back, tozer and blackburn remained in the middle. i think pook and jpm switched around on the wings second half but it was such a shambles at times i couldn't tel Title: Swindon V Cheltenham Post by: Chubbs on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, 14:08:29 Quote from: "sonic youth" pook started at right-back, tozer and blackburn in the middle, comminges on the left. zaaboub switched to left-back, comminges went to right-back, tozer and blackburn remained in the middle. i think pook and jpm switched around on the wings second half but it was such a shambles at times i couldn't tel Wheres that whoosh emoticon I know he started at RB but why the hell did he spend 90% of his time in CB position?
