Title: How Far Can We Go This Season ? Post by: Ralphy on Sunday, October 7, 2007, 09:43:58 Just wondered what people's thoughts are really on this season?
We're sitting in 6th place in league one, 3 points off the top! :o Obviously if we're deducted 15 points then a relegation fight is on the cards but what if we're sitting in a play off position come may? Can we compete with the big boys in the championship? I think if we do go up, investment is an absolute must. This takeover must get sorted! Title: How Far Can We Go This Season ? Post by: STFC_Gazzza on Sunday, October 7, 2007, 09:47:33 even if we get deducted 15 points we wont be relegated. Playoffs have to be the aim.
Title: How Far Can We Go This Season ? Post by: Simon Pieman on Sunday, October 7, 2007, 09:52:52 Reminds me of the season with Kingy in charge. Not consistent enough for autos but on our day we could beat anyone.
I think play-offs are possible but if we have a period of bad form that won't happen. Title: How Far Can We Go This Season ? Post by: Ralphy on Sunday, October 7, 2007, 09:54:53 Difference being from the King era that we have a good manager with tactical know how and in my opinion a better team.
Title: How Far Can We Go This Season ? Post by: Simon Pieman on Sunday, October 7, 2007, 09:59:52 We had some brilliant players that season though...
Migz Parkin Fatty Howard Think we are more of a unit this season though Title: How Far Can We Go This Season ? Post by: Simon Pieman on Sunday, October 7, 2007, 10:01:08 And Mooney was fantastic too. We were more exciting that season compared to this season so far. But we were gash at the back.
Title: How Far Can We Go This Season ? Post by: Ralphy on Sunday, October 7, 2007, 10:03:36 We were great up front like you say with Mooney and Parkin but our defence wasn't all that. And as for Daisy Duke and Hewlett. :?

Title: How Far Can We Go This Season ? Post by: newmarket red on Sunday, October 7, 2007, 10:10:49 Yes mate it was me i pulled forward so you could get out because of the lack of space .How on earth do they expect you to get out drivers side with the bushes there :(
Title: How Far Can We Go This Season ? Post by: Ralphy on Sunday, October 7, 2007, 10:13:03 Yeah i know, it's ridiculous.

i'd give my left foot to have stef in our midfield and parkin up front again though! Title: How Far Can We Go This Season ? Post by: Batch on Sunday, October 7, 2007, 10:16:59 I'd still say it's an outside chance of the playoffs at the moment.
We don't know if Cox will stay past Jan and we don't know if Corr and Paynter will work together, they are a bit similar. Title: How Far Can We Go This Season ? Post by: Reg Smeeton on Sunday, October 7, 2007, 10:29:07 Lets not get ahead of ourselves fellas.....if by the end of the season we still have something left which we can identify as STFC, then it will be a bonus.
The division is immaterial. Title: How Far Can We Go This Season ? Wise words Reg, wise words indeed! The division is immaterial. Title: How Far Can We Go This Season ? Post by: Ralphy on Sunday, October 7, 2007, 11:19:56 Corr won't even get a look in at the moment! Paynter and Cox are a great partnership.
Title: How Far Can We Go This Season ? Post by: Spencer_White on Sunday, October 7, 2007, 11:38:28 Unbelievable how things can be so positive and so dire, all at the same time.
For what its worth, this team is top draw. Far more complete than the 03-04 team. On the flip side we are running into the ground. What can you say? :| Title: How Far Can We Go This Season ? What can you say? :| Its a weird feeling....my opinion, is that we're very much living on borrowed time....we have a decent squad, and a decent manager, but I expect that to change fairly sharpish. The ground we are being run into is quicksand. If we do come out of it with any positives, then it will be because of luck. Title: How Far Can We Go This Season ? Post by: Spencer_White on Sunday, October 7, 2007, 12:50:56 We are on borrowed time. Not really your opinion Reg, its a financial fact.
Writing was on the wall months ago when they said they werent going to pay the CVA. God only knows what is going to happen to us. But one things for sure. Things cant go on as they are. Title: How Far Can We Go This Season ? Post by: reeves4england on Sunday, October 7, 2007, 13:12:06 On the pitch I think we'll finish somewhere between 6th and 12th, which is much more optimistic that i was at the start of the year I must say! Play-offs will be difficult to reach - you have to remember we haven't played many teams near the top of this division yet!
If we are to see any effects of the financial trouble then the play-offs will be nothing more than a dream Title: How Far Can We Go This Season ? Post by: Ralphy on Sunday, October 7, 2007, 13:17:02 We played Swansea who i think will go up automatic and although we did lose 2-1, I don't think we were outplayed, infact far from it.
Leeds, Forest and Swansea are the big 3. Title: How Far Can We Go This Season ? Post by: lebowski on Sunday, October 7, 2007, 13:34:37 still too early to say, but it's worth noting that the teams we've beaten are all in the bottom half.
in fact we've only played 2 teams from the top half, and lost to both of them. Title: How Far Can We Go This Season ? Post by: axs on Sunday, October 7, 2007, 13:36:08 er hartlepool?
Title: How Far Can We Go This Season ? Post by: lebowski on Sunday, October 7, 2007, 13:36:59 forgot about them!
Title: How Far Can We Go This Season ? Post by: Kinky Tom on Sunday, October 7, 2007, 13:48:58 But two of the teams tipped for promotion in Millwall and Luton have both lost to us so who's to say we're not actually one of the big teams in this division.
As we all know we have looked organised at the back and up top we look like we can terrorise teams - I doubt there are many teams that are really going to scare like we can. I seriously think the only thing we have to fear is ourselves - if the players go out and stick to the game plan and attack like they can then why shouldn't play-offs be realistic. As has been said though it is still too early because we don't know whether we're coming or going as far as the boardroom is concerned and whether Sturrock will be able to keep going like he is if the takeover does go ahead. Title: How Far Can We Go This Season ? Post by: Ralphy on Sunday, October 7, 2007, 13:56:57 All this positive talk is scaring me.
Title: How Far Can We Go This Season ? Post by: jayohaitchenn on Sunday, October 7, 2007, 13:58:14 We ***could*** win this league, but we probably won't. Playoffs is more than a realistic aim.

Title: How Far Can We Go This Season ? Post by: JOHNNY REEVES on Sunday, October 7, 2007, 15:38:58 with some of the chances we missed we could have easily have been 9pts better off .trouble is -15pts would see us on 1pnt
