So to all you moaning cunts.....................Fuck off!

I dunno where you were sat Bushy, but in the South Stand it was a very brief segment of 'sweet chariot', followed by a few 'Engerlands', what's the big deal?

England played in a quarter final and won (Against the odds) so of course a large portion of the crowd were just a bit chuffed.

Thought it needed to be done i think, whenever we beat the Aussies in any sport it's always good. I don't really follow rugby but i have been watching the world cup, and i think it's quite good.

I can't watch Rugby because I get an overwhelming feeling that I need to shoot myself in the face, but I thought it was a nice touch yesterday. It actually raised the mood of the crowd.

Title: Why sing Rugby songs?
Post by: Spencer_White on Sunday, October 7, 2007, 11:30:37
To be fair, things did get better after that, but I wondered if it was because x amount of people were listening on their headsets. I suppose you win some, you loose some. That QPR game in 03 was brilliant cos most of the crowd had been on it to watch the rugby world cup final, made for a great atmosphere later.

Always been a bit of a football fascist when it came to rugby. Just dont think football and rugby go together. If you want to like rugby, thats a different crowd, a different set of people.

My local have wars between punters during rugby matches on tv. Some want to watch football, some rugby.

Football will always be our national sport.

I don't see the problem with it. I'm not really a rugby fan but I have no problem in acknowledging an English sports team doing well and beating a side against the odds - particularly the aussies.

I really dont get what some of you are moaning about.
I do not like rugby, never have. Therefore i was not singing (doesn't mean im not pleased for them) why should others not breifly celebrate with song when the final score came through... and as i hear it was the same at most football matches across the country.

Title: Why sing Rugby songs?

Because rugby and football are supposed to hate each other.

Always used to be that way. Too many tossers infitrating football when they should be watching rugby.

are they?

i don't hate any other sport, some are a bit shit but i just ignore them.

To me that sounds like elitist nonsense that will keep attendances down due to unwelcoming attitudes.

winge winge winge.  I'm middle class so I guess I should fuck off and watch the rugby. Although Somehow its ok to like Cricket and football?

And as for complaining about having it on in the winners, I'd rather watch England play the Aussies in a world cup 1/4 final than Man U predictably steamroller Wigan in a fairly meaningless premiership game.

In future I'll try to act like I'm on benifits, have 35 kids and like fighting so I can fit in with a streotype of a football fan that died in the 80's  :wanker:

I l0ove the Rugby, admittedly not as much as football but so what if they sang a Rugby song?  hardly the end of the world is it.

If we had been playing the likes of Swansea then I doubt any of you would be complaining.

Fucking hell, I kind of expect the Rugby Union/Rugby League rivalry, but don't get this anti rugby attitude from football fans.  Why can't people accept that there are people who like both sports.

It's like you've got some sort of chip on your shoulder.  Blaming a class divide, what out dated bollocks.

one of my mates who is a big rugby fan reckons that in general.......

football is a gentlemens sport followed by hooligans
and
rugby is a hooligans sport followed by gentlemen

im not suggesting anybody is a hooligan (or a gentlemen for that manner :P ) but you dont often get trouble at a rugby game do you? apart from on the pitch maybe

I know Im a dinosaur. But I dont care.

Just 15 years ago most people in the UK HATED football. HATED! Its funny how everyone accepts that the game is over commercialised and gone mad with money, no soul etc. No one wants to be the person who put it there, the johnny come lately, yet everyone knows they exist. I mean, how can Cheltenham support a football league team?! Cheltenham!!! FFS.

Traditionally the reason you didnt like both sports was because football and rugby are both winter sports. So you were forced to choose, whereas cricket is a summer sport.

Its different for jocks, because they just want any excuse to have a go at the English (I might have a chip on my shoulder, but Il show you a chip a thousand times bigger!   ). But the Welsh are even more divided than us, where did those 60,000 fans come from when they had a sniff at WC qualification? Then they dissapeared again, just as quickly, because they dont like football really. Just like grounds in the top flight are full today are full of people who dont like football that much. Just something for the plebs to do. Cricket is trying the same formula - how can we get people who dont like cricket to like cricket??? Hmm, I know, Twenty20!!!!

If everyone on here likes rugby, then for me thats another shovel of earth on the grave of English football culture. Im 'FUCK OFF RUGBY' and Im proud of it.

I like most sports as long as the result isn't judged by cunts giving marks for artistic impression.  Grand Prix, Golf, Tennis (Wimbledon only) Rugby(internationals only), athletics(world and olympics only), cycling(Tour de France only).  But football was my first love and it will be my last.
