Title: Embarrassing
Post by: red macca on Thursday, October 4, 2007, 14:51:49
Are you happy to continue as chairman of the club, despite once saying that John Ward's appointment as manager would be your last?

I WAS really cross and angry with the performance at Port Vale, and I have heard the Doncaster match was very poor too.

I was really angry, but what has happened over the past week doesn't impact upon my commitment to the club.

But if someone comes in and wants to take over with a major stake in the club, it has to be right for the club.

Some say Swindon are being taken over by a Portuguese consortium, but it hasn't happened.

Swindon owe us £25,000 for the ticket sales from the match at Whaddon Road earlier in the season, but they won't pay us until the consortium is sorted out. They are still hiring players and I think that stinks.

There have been difficult times for the board before and it's difficult now, but we are a stable club with a fantastic nucleus of 3,000-3,500 fans.

We also have a great bunch who go away from home every week and we are laying on three free coaches to Northampton Town in a couple of weeks' time.

We want supporters there to support Keith and we want to reward them because they have seen some pretty poor performances recently.

We have a great training ground and great backroom staff, but the squad needs to be strengthened and that's our challenge now.

How embarrassing is this to owe them money, how the fuck have we got away with not paying them for the tickets.

I am actually shocked by this

Still, it doesn't suprise me though.  It's about time Wyatt was brought in to get them the hell out of Dodge.

I think the whole 'hiring players' thing is nothing to worry about. I think they mean 'signing players', afterall how would some Cheltenham yokel know more about the goings on at our club than we do.

Title: Embarrassing
Post by: RobertT on Thursday, October 4, 2007, 15:27:32
isn't that the words of their Chairman though?  It is rather immoral to hold onto money that we owe someone when we were about to sign 3 players up, especially when it isn't even our money.

Bit of an all time low tho.  The players/staff haven't been paid a few times in the past but now were witholding ticket money to opposition teams that are due them if pretty dreadful and if the league get wind of it, will we not face at the very least a ticking off?

Totally and utterly ashamed !

Swindon Town FC Club Update
Posted on: Thu 04 Oct 2007

As the protracted negotiations with Best Holdings with regards to the takeover of the club continue, the STFC Board of Directors has, in the meantime, sought from The Club's major shareholder additional funds to fulfil the immediate obligations and financial liabilities of the Company.

I presume the FA have not caught wind of it as that sort of shenanigans usually means we have a fairly prompt transfer embargo slapped on the club.

Piss poor really and it begs the question did the Portuguese mob know about this or is it the first of many to blow out from under the carpet.

How come I get the feeling EVERYTHING is going to go tits up in the next 2 weeks. I can see

- Best Holdings pulling out
- Tranfer embargo
- Football League meeting to discuss a points deduction
- Expulsion from the league.
- Winding up order from HMRC
- Supermarine become our main club and ST holders get fuck all money back along with creditors.

This is now beyond a joke.  I am at a loss to understand why HMRC and Swindon Council are not getting involved.  External pressure needs to be applied, or these cowboys are going to string us along indefinitely.  Someone needs to go in there and bang their heads together.

This charade is worse than pathetic.

I suspect that this lot are paying as little as possible and that is why 'nam have not been paid, there is probably other clubs that have not been paid, and if we are due to make payments for anything I suspect they won't be paid.

I would imagine the money they have sought from the Wills family will be used to pay the players wages for last month that has still not been paid, they are basically admitting they cannot afford to keep the FC going any longer by asking for external funding, I susect that Wills would want the "loan" back from the Portugeezers if the takeover goes through also which is probably going to be another sticking point in the ongoing saga

The reasons in my mind:

1. ATM the deal is not dead. It still represents the best chance of getting their money back as quickly as possible.
2. Anronikou is actually doing a good job reassuring them the deal is not dead

Still fully expect the shit to hit the fan soon mind should this deadlock not be broken in the next week or so. :(

During the last couple of months although I've still been attending all home matches and some away I have lacked alot of the old passion for the club. This whole fiasco has made me embarrassed and ashamed to support the club at times, so much so that I've signed for and played for a Saturday team and if things carry on like this I can only see myself playing increasingly more matches than I watch.

This current board are blatently impossible to do any kind deal with and when they lose the Court Case for Powers money next month it really could leave the clubs existance hanging by a thread. I could rant and rave but after the last few months if I didn't support STFC quite frankly I would think the club deserves everything it gets if everything goes tits up as the owners have brought this on themselves and there is no longer anyone else to blame.

This deal WILL NOT GO THROUGH, take it from me.

I have been in business a long time and people like our Jim do not get rich by doing deals with "uncapped liabilities", and in essence that is exactly what MikeD is demanding.

Jim Little will walk away rather than leaving him and his colleagues exposed

I'm very concerned by todays "update". They could have at least let us know a bit more. It concerns me that we are looking for funds. I thought best holdings had the funds? Does this mean they don't want to pay the debts? Are they going to do a runner?
