Late goal, 1-0 win. Title: Swindon v Bournemouth matchday thread Post by: Peter Venkman on Saturday, September 22, 2007, 09:37:56 I think it will be a backs to the wall performance by Bournemouth who will hold out for a 1-1 draw after scoring early against the run of play.
My heart wants us to put 4 or 5 past them with no reply as they have a huge amount of injury problems in their defence with the ex Shitty Midfielder Rob Newman possibly being on the bench at the age of 44! First half wasnt brilliant, but second half was much better. Finally we got a bit of luck in front of goal and once we were in the lead the confidence drained from Bournemouth and ours went through the roof. 4 goals all from strikers, 2 of which were set up by the other striker to. Not bad Title: Swindon v Bournemouth matchday thread Post by: Bogus Dave on Saturday, September 22, 2007, 16:54:01 they did :?

However the excellence of our strikers and Easton, Comminges and Blackburn masked how fucking crap Sofi (should that be Sophie) and Peacock were. If you're going to wear yellow boots and a mohawk you've got to be half decent Lee! Title: Swindon v Bournemouth matchday thread Post by: Matchworn Shirts on Saturday, September 22, 2007, 17:59:24 Thank god my prediction was vastly incorrect (as usual)
Title: Swindon v Bournemouth matchday thread Post by: chalkies_shorts on Saturday, September 22, 2007, 19:12:50 First half even - second half a complete pissing on by us. Bornmuff were crap. When they scored their goal we went to piices and I was grateful for the whistle. Cox stuck his goal away well. The keeper helped with our second my going walkabout. The third was great skill by Painter - the fourth great skill by Cox.
Painter and cox were a real handful and will cause some grief to a few defences this season. Vincent, i thuoght was also very good as were McGovernn and the Minge. The bad news - the way we caved in after their goal. Also two extrmely poor performances from Zaboub and even more so by Blackburn. Blackburn gave me kittens any time he was near the ball. positionally he was crap and his heading was really week. In fact, he was so out of sorts I'd have taken him off at half time. On the positive side hopefully it was a bad day but Ifill had plenty of thsoe early on and came good. Title: Swindon v Bournemouth matchday thread Post by: Bogus Dave on Saturday, September 22, 2007, 19:19:04 I'll agree with that about blackburn. ran around like a headless chicken, commiting himselves for balls he never stood a chance of winning.
Title: Swindon v Bournemouth matchday thread Post by: Samdy Gray on Saturday, September 22, 2007, 19:20:37 Major pointage for me in the prediction league 8) I went for 4-0 so wasn't far off.
I thought first half we looked lost, Bournemouth ran circles round us and literally passed it in for their goal. Anderton's just an old man and has completely lost it. Telfer the same. Was very very impressed with Paynter today, aside from his hat-trick his all round play was brilliant and he held the ball up well. I agree with DMR about Zaaboub, I thought he was fucking awful first half and only looked good in the second because we were winning. Also, Roberts should have come on a lot earlier. All in all, a great win. Bring on Millwall. Title: Swindon v Bournemouth matchday thread Post by: herthab on Saturday, September 22, 2007, 19:22:01 I see my 'Zaboub is shite and needs to be dropped' campaign is attracting new supporters.

Title: Swindon v Bournemouth matchday thread Post by: DV on Saturday, September 22, 2007, 19:51:53 Zaaboub should be dropped for the next game, he did little or nothing.
I didnt think Blackburn was that bad, I think its clear both he and Ifil need a 'leader' alongside them but I thought they did ok. I like Craig Easton more and more each game, good skill, good touch, box to box midfielder and gets stuck into everything. 90/10 in their favour he still goes in. He covers every blade of grass. To me he's like a more technically gifted Turbo. Long may he continue in the team ahead of Michael Pook! Title: Swindon v Bournemouth matchday thread Post by: Marston Red on Saturday, September 22, 2007, 20:27:50 Personally thought that Blackburn did ok for his first start, but have to agree that we missed Hasney as neither Blackburn or Ifil seem to be talkers. I'm not sure why people think Comminges was so good as he scared the crap out of me defensively and the only time he went to cross it it went into Stratton Bank a la Shakes. I'd go for a new Centre Half and play Blackburn at right back like he did for Morecombe. We need to keep a clean sheet at some point!
Midfield looked better today although gave Bournemouth far too much space first half - particularly like J-P as he seems to love a tackle. He must have put in more tackles today than Roberts did last season. Bloke behind me didn't turn up today. Presume its because Sturrock and Pook were dropped and he didn't have anyone to moan at. Title: Swindon v Bournemouth matchday thread Post by: West Country LaLaLa on Saturday, September 22, 2007, 20:29:15 I thought after we scored the first goal we were awful. I was really hoping that commingues and zaboub would be subbed at half time, they were truly awful. Commingues didn't look like a player able to play at the back in the first half.
Surprisingly Sturrock didn't make the changes and Commingues seemed to improve, possibly got some of his confidence back with some better challenges at the start of the second half. Can't say the same for Zaboub though, he's really annoying me now and could have picked up a petulant booking with some of the run ins with the Bournemouth players in the second half - plus he rolled around ridiculously on the floor when he was tackled one time. Needs to be dropped and Roberts should play instead. Mcgovern and Roberts would pose more of a threat IMO. Paynter looked really good (if a little unfit in the first half), Cox - confident and the right kind of arrogance, worked hard. A good looking partnership forming here. Thought Blackburn was solid enough, bearing in mind he was in non league footie last year. I would have played Vincent in the centre, Jerel seems to play better with a more experienced player alongside him. I thought Easton had a quiet game by his standards, didn't get forward as much, does he have to over compensate his defensive deuties with Peacock next to him? Title: Swindon v Bournemouth matchday thread Post by: normy on Saturday, September 22, 2007, 21:27:06 Blackburn seemed to have an ability, or knack, of more often than not being able to clear to one of ours, instead of to one of theirs or the stands. Perhaps we have a footballing defender at last, unlike the old days of Heywood and O'Hanlon. Hope he keeps it up and matures with experience.
Title: Swindon v Bournemouth matchday thread Post by: sonic youth on Saturday, September 22, 2007, 23:04:20 i'm one of sofi's biggest fans but he was fucking terrible today, some of his crosses with his natural left foot were so bad i could do better and my left leg is for nothing but standing. absolutely diabolical. no effort either, so whoever said 'lots of effort, no end product' is only half right!
being dropped would probably give him a kick up the arse. he needs it. disagree about blackburn, he wasn't as solid as aljofree has been but thought that despite a shaky start he found his feet and looked decent. i wouldn't rush to bring anyone in on loan when we've got him around. vincent was shit again. how the fuck is he captain, he can barely cope with controlling a football. peacock was poo. paynter looks like a finisher which is exactly what we needed. so, yeah. good result. zaaboub out and peacock out, roberts and pook/adams in. Title: Swindon v Bournemouth matchday thread Post by: deltaincline on Saturday, September 22, 2007, 23:06:49 Can't believe the amount of stick Zaboub is getting. Sure, he was off colour today, but he's pure class when he's on form.
I think the gloves should be chucked in the bin and his sleeves rolled up in future. He needs to draw a line under the 'posy frenchman with attitude' persona or he'll be in danger of being tagged as the fans new hate figure. Gotta have someone to hurl abuse at now that Pooky's gone, eh? Title: Swindon v Bournemouth matchday thread Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Saturday, September 22, 2007, 23:16:12 I thought Paynter and Cox were both outstanding. Cox chased down everything and looked very classy with some touches. Great finish from him for his goal as well. As for Paynter well what can i say? Pure class. A bit of luck for his first goal and he was never going to miss that. But that was what he needed and he just got better from that point onwards. His second goal was pure class. Fantastic finish from what seemed a hopeless postiton initially. And his third saw some superb play from Cox who put in a great ball for the hat-trick finish.
Thought Comminges looked very composed and solid at right back. Don't know why people are slagging him off on here as it were because i thought he played very well and made some very good tackles. Zaaboub was poor first half but he got better as the game went on and was looking a threat towards the end. I thought Blackburn did OK but nothing more than that. You can easily see why Aljofree is so important to us at the back and i hope he returns swiftly. All in all what a great win. Against a team hampered by injuries but none the less we won. And we finally scored more than 1 goal. Happy days. Title: Swindon v Bournemouth matchday thread Post by: chalkies_shorts on Sunday, September 23, 2007, 09:37:16 Vincent is a class act. Is he good going forward - not really. Is he a great crosser of the ball - not really. Can he shoot - not really. can he defend - yes he can and bloody well at that. I'm a fan of Zaboub but Vincent really has got his work cut out with Zaboub in front of him. He's pretty good on the ball and doesn't panic. When he moved into centre half along side Ifill last seaaon he was superb.
I think he's one of those players that would be described as a player's player. Not band wagon jumping, I've been saying it since the end of last season. 1 good performance followed by 6 or 7 shit ones aint good enough........ Surely thats Peacock? Title: Swindon v Bournemouth matchday thread Post by: Simon Pieman on Sunday, September 23, 2007, 09:45:11 I'd sooner have Peacock in the middle than Pook.
Title: Swindon v Bournemouth matchday thread Post by: Spencer_White on Sunday, September 23, 2007, 10:18:20 Eastons and Peacock constant running in the midfield will help us overcome a lot of teams in 2nd halves this season. Bournemouth had been run ragged by the end. Fair play to Cox, he did look a class act. Thats just the start Paynter needed, think weve finally found our new main man.

Title: Swindon v Bournemouth matchday thread Post by: Simon Pieman on Sunday, September 23, 2007, 10:38:10 Steady on! I don't think a lot of people thought the squad that came up from League 2 last season would do that well, but it has been improved and now looks capable.
And I think Spencer is right. Yeah, only 3 or 4 of our players would cut it in the champions league. I think he's one of those players that would be described as a player's player. he's woeful going forward which is an issue because that's how sturrock likes his teams to play - with attacking fullbacks. how on earth can you say he's good on the ball when he can't control a football and the only pass he ever makes it a long ball down the left channel? if he was anymore one dimensional he'd cease to exist. however, he played well at centre-half last season - the mind boggles. Vincent, is that back line is the only player over what 24? He's probably played m ore seasons professional in England than the rest of our back line put together today. He's not great going forward, and he's not the most technically gifted football but he is very vocal and organises the defence. Whenever we clear a cross or a corner you can hear Vincent telling them to push up. The vocal side is often underrated and is something Nicholas doesnt do at all. What with Aljofree out injured, Vincents expirence is vital. I thought minge was toss defensively yesterday. Bring back Jack Smith and surely Roberts has to start aswell? Anyways, delighted with the victory - it almost feels like it didn't happen. Town don't win 4 - 1! Title: Swindon v Bournemouth matchday thread Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Sunday, September 23, 2007, 16:13:22 Comminges was good i thought. Much better than Jack Smith. He is simply just more composed on the ball and he gets forward more. His crossing and passing is better and he made some decent tackles. I'd start him over Smith tbh.
Title: Swindon v Bournemouth matchday thread Post by: eldene red on Sunday, September 23, 2007, 17:26:26 I would go with Comminges over Smith he gets foward more, Smith has not looked as good so far this season. He made some good passes yesterday and looked more skillfull.
Title: Swindon v Bournemouth matchday thread Post by: Sheffield Red on Sunday, September 23, 2007, 22:23:50 Think the main reason Peacock looked pretty good in midfield at the end of last season was that he won lots of headers and tackles. However because League one is a better standard and the ball is not in the air as much he might be less effective. I cannot remember him heading the ball at Hartlepool or again yesterday (apart from the goal chance he was stretching for). He is therefore going to need to add other things to his game to make it as a Central Midfielder like running with the ball, incisive passing, and arriving late in the box.
Title: Swindon v Bournemouth matchday thread Post by: ibelieveinmrreeves on Sunday, September 23, 2007, 22:41:42 If I see JPM aim another free kick in a decent area to the back post for Peacock to 'win' in the air, I might have to attack both players. Drives me up the fucking wall as its completely pointless and never achieves anything.
Blackburn was poor positionally I felt, didn't think much of Comminges either. Mind, for me he's only really impressed against Brentford so far this season. Title: Swindon v Bournemouth matchday thread Post by: red macca on Monday, September 24, 2007, 08:13:11 If we dont get a centre half on loan i would put vincent their otherwise i would not bother playing him.Easton and peacock were solid did not do alot wrong happy with that.
