Title: England V Israel Post by: Luci on Saturday, September 8, 2007, 13:26:10 As we don't have one I thought I'd create a thread.
Pretty pleased about Owen and Heskey starting as probably the best current pairing we have (who are fit of course). Good news about Stevie G also. I'm debating going to hang my largish flag up on full view somewhere :D Title: England V Israel Post by: axs on Saturday, September 8, 2007, 13:29:51 anyone going to the pub for this?
Title: England V Israel Post by: DV on Saturday, September 8, 2007, 13:31:00 nope, not worth the effort.
I expect the game to be slow, dull and boring and England to escape with a pretty poor display and a 2-0 victory. Title: England V Israel Post by: axs on Saturday, September 8, 2007, 13:32:48 the experience also includes being sociable with people, something i find as appealing as the game. you should try it.

Used to be quite a regular until my mate moved to the other side of grange park and now he deems it too far to walk. He even suggested going to the De Vere for a drink once as it had "comfy seats". What a spaz. I stopped asking him if he wanted to go for a few pints down the local after that. Title: England V Israel Post by: Red81 on Saturday, September 8, 2007, 13:55:08 Hmm.. i'm going for 3-1. Owen, Heskey(clumbsy stumble type shot), Gerrard.

8) Title: England V Israel Post by: larwood on Saturday, September 8, 2007, 18:18:30 We won :beers: My eight hours sat in front of the box watching various England teams play sport has proved fruitful :D
Thought Israel were very poor,of course the game on Wednesday will be a much bigger challenge. Title: England V Israel Post by: Bogus Dave on Saturday, September 8, 2007, 18:50:56 If swp hadn't of scored his goal he'd be getting slated at the moment, so how on earth did he get MOTM. The most effective player on the pitch was heskey by a mile.
That aside was a very good performance. If Mclaren has the balls to stick with heskey and barry, then im feeling confident for wednesday. Title: England V Israel Post by: Simon Pieman on Saturday, September 8, 2007, 19:04:07 Wright-Phillips really did crap didn't he :-))(

They did that at home, and they tried to do that at Wembley.
They got what they deserved. Title: England V Israel Post by: Matchworn Shirts on Sunday, September 9, 2007, 07:33:10 The papers are so funny it's untrue. I cannot believe people actually take notice of what they same and are influenced by them.
Before the match Maclaren is crap, they won't qualify, blah blah blah. One win against a shite team and its all great again. England shouldn't even have had the slightest problem qualifying and will qualify, from what is with the exception of 2 is a fairly poor group bloody tabloids building teams/players up as world class :? Title: England V Israel Post by: Bennett on Sunday, September 9, 2007, 07:56:20 stolen again from the bbc website-
"That was evident here today. But we conceded a goal which was clear offside and then one from a clear foul on our goalkeeper and then the referee was giving free-kicks all the time to our opponents on the edge of area. my reaction to these points is as follows: -no the first goal wasn't offside. -no the third goal your pretty goalkeeper ran into owens arm, then managed to fall over. someone's going to be embarrassed when he watches the goals today Title: England V Israel Post by: DMR on Sunday, September 9, 2007, 08:21:15 Quote from: "Bushey Boy" I thought that was a good performance, looking forward to Weds, thats the test! apparantly i saw you in the walkabout but i was hammered 8) Title: England V Israel Post by: Peter Venkman on Sunday, September 9, 2007, 08:34:35 Quite impressed with England for the first time under Mucklaren, solid all round. Gerrard looked good in the middle, Richards was a breath of fresh air after so many years of a lethargic Gary Neville.
Rio had his best game for England for years, admittedly he was not up against much oppo, Heskey played ok after his early poor miss even though I dont think hes an England striker and never really has been. And I dont thin Robinson had to make a proper save, so overall very happy but Russia will be a much greater test Wednesday if we play as well as against Israel and create chances we will win.
