Title: Monza Italian Grand Prix Post by: Luci on Friday, September 7, 2007, 08:36:03 Would absolutely love MacLaren to beat Ferrari on home turf this weekend.
Hamilton won there last year in the GP2 Championship and hopefully in with a shout again this year. Title: Monza Italian Grand Prix Post by: land_of_bo on Friday, September 7, 2007, 10:23:16 Well the Ferrari's have a 1-2 in practice, Hamilton 3rd
Title: Monza Italian Grand Prix Post by: Luci on Friday, September 7, 2007, 11:21:14 Quote Britain's Jenson Button was sixth-quickest in his Honda I didn't expect that at all. Maybe if Hamilton gets 3rd he will overtake drivers ahead of him to stop Dachauer moaning about the fact he apparently can't overtake :D Title: Monza Italian Grand Prix Post by: Northern Red on Friday, September 7, 2007, 12:30:07 Raikkonen likes Monza so should be a pole to flag winner.
Massa's superb at the moments so he's 2nd. Alonso or Hamilton fighting over 3rd I'm afraid. If I was Lewis I'd go heavy and hope for a safety car. What I'd like to see is: Alonso qualifies 3rd and tries a stonking overtake move into the first chicane taking out both Ferrari's. Lewis wins... Title: Monza Italian Grand Prix Post by: Luci on Friday, September 7, 2007, 12:32:18 Im going for:
Massa Raikkonen Hamilton Alonso Button will probably drop to about 8th from 6th (if thats where he starts) and I'd like to see Kubica do well as I think hes a good driver. What I'd like to see is: Alonso qualifies 3rd and tries a stonking overtake move into the first chicane taking out Lewis and himself. Ferrari dominates, close up the WC battle and Alonso get vilified by the British press once again. Title: Monza Italian Grand Prix Post by: Northern Red on Friday, September 7, 2007, 12:42:04 Raikonen finished 2nd there last year in a piece of shit Mclaren, and qualified on Pole.
But the Ferraris were fastest all weekend and fueled longer and were outqualified, only to later take the lead. BMW qualified well 3rd and 5th last year, Kubica taking 3rd from 5th. In short the Ferrari's may sacrifice qualifying to run a little longer during the race. Title: Monza Italian Grand Prix Post by: Batch on Friday, September 7, 2007, 12:45:05 The interesting development in "Stpeneygate" means the whole season could be a wash out if MacLaren are found guilty the FIA get tough...
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/62097 Quote FIA president Max Mosley confirmed in a letter to Formula One teams last week that the new evidence that has led to a fresh hearing over the Ferrari spy saga did come from McLaren's drivers, autosport.com can reveal. Speculation at Monza ahead of this weekend's Italian Grand Prix pointed towards an email exchange between Fernando Alonso and McLaren tester Pedro de la Rosa that took place shortly after the start of the season. Sources have revealed that in the emails, de la Rosa makes reference to Ferrari set-up secrets that he had obtained from McLaren's suspended chief designer Mike Coughlan. It is unclear at this stage who tipped off the FIA about the existence of the email exchange. McLaren and the FIA have not commented on the nature of the new evidence, but autosport.com can confirm that all F1 teams were informed last week that McLaren drivers had been in possession of 'written evidence relevant to this investigation.' Mosley wrote to all 11 teams last Friday making it clear that it was their duty to provide any evidence relating to the spy affair. Similar letters were also sent to Alonso, de la Rosa and Lewis Hamilton, asking them to provide any evidence they had in exchange for an 'amnesty' over any possible sanctions. Although the FIA has not publicly confirmed or denied that the letter was sent to the teams, autosport.com has obtained a copy from an unidentified source detailing the nature of its latest investigation. In it, Mosley says the FIA was made aware of: "an allegation that one or more McLaren drivers may be in possession, or that such drivers have recently been in possession, of written evidence relevant to this investigation." Mosley says it is the FIA's duty to find out if this allegation is true and therefore requires the cooperation of all teams involved to provide documents, and then he drops a big hint about email exchanges. The letter adds: "In particular (though without limiting the generality of this request) the FIA wishes to receive copies of any electronic communications (howsoever conveyed or stored) which may be relevant to this case and which make reference to Ferrari, Nigel Stepney or any technical or other information coming from, or connected with, either Ferrari or Mr Stepney." It is understood that Alonso and de la Rosa subsequently provided the information about their email exchange at the start of this week, which prompted the FIA to recall the World Motor Sport Council for a hearing on September 13. Title: Monza Italian Grand Prix Post by: Luci on Friday, September 7, 2007, 12:49:15 How far would Alonso go to scupper Hamiltons rookie season?
I'm not ruling out that he could be involved more than first thought. Title: Monza Italian Grand Prix Post by: Batch on Friday, September 7, 2007, 12:49:59 How far would Alonso go to get the fuck out of him MacLaren contract more like...
Title: Monza Italian Grand Prix Post by: Luci on Friday, September 7, 2007, 14:59:06 Interesting that the Maclarens should be quicker than both Ferraris in the second session

World Touring Car Championship. Title: Monza Italian Grand Prix Post by: Matchworn Shirts on Friday, September 7, 2007, 15:54:37 I don't think that you should read too much into free practice times
Title: Monza Italian Grand Prix Post by: Luci on Friday, September 7, 2007, 15:58:11 I don't, just like to see whats going on.
Title: Monza Italian Grand Prix Post by: lebowski on Friday, September 7, 2007, 17:16:26 if ferrari aren't winning, the tifosi would love to see hamilton topple alonso, if only because alonso beat schumacher 2 years running.
i cant see mclaren winning a straight race with ferrari at monza (or spa, for that matter), but this has been a very eventful season, so nothing would surprise me. Title: Monza Italian Grand Prix Post by: Northern Red on Friday, September 7, 2007, 20:16:03 Quote from: "Dachauer" I don't think that you should read too much into free practice times Actually reading into them makes sense of it. Look at the fastest time in each session. McLaren is marginally quicker when the track gets quicker, ie 2nd session. But in the second session Ferrari fueled to a race strategy type fuel load. And Massa was faster. So Massa's testing a light fuel load for the pole position and Raikkonen heavier for 2nd place, but the eventual race win. It's worrying that Ferrari are confident enough to run heavy fueled in the 2nd practice. It didn't happen at Silverstone, they all remained light in practice and fought for the fastest speed ego boost. Ferrari are quietly confident. I'd be onto the bookies for a Ferrari 1-2 this weekend. Title: Monza Italian Grand Prix Post by: Northern Red on Saturday, September 8, 2007, 10:39:48 Possibly all change now anyway.
Raikkonen has just annihilated his car at 200 mph 2 hours before qualifying. Meaning he'll probably take the spare car (not set-up, new engine = -10 places on grid) And on what looks to be equal fuel, the McLaren's are half a second quicker than Massa in morning practice. My 1-2 Ferrari prediction looks shot. :beers: Title: Monza Italian Grand Prix Post by: Matchworn Shirts on Saturday, September 8, 2007, 10:54:09 all falls nicely into place for the over-rated one
Title: Monza Italian Grand Prix Post by: lebowski on Saturday, September 8, 2007, 13:12:30 which over-rated one are we talking about, the one leading the world championship, or the double world champion?
Title: Monza Italian Grand Prix Post by: axs on Saturday, September 8, 2007, 13:13:31 or button?
Title: Monza Italian Grand Prix Post by: pumbaa on Saturday, September 8, 2007, 13:14:47 IIRC, Dachauer has an 'issue' with Raikkonen I think.
Last minute of qualifying, so lets see what happens, Looking good for McLaren though Title: Monza Italian Grand Prix Post by: Luci on Saturday, September 8, 2007, 13:16:21 Just been watching this, fair play for Heidfeld getting in between the Ferraris however not sure how long that will last come tomorrow.
As for over-rated, Hamilton is not. Leading the Championship in his rookie season says enough. Looking forward to a Maclaren 1, 2 tomorrow! Title: Monza Italian Grand Prix Post by: pumbaa on Saturday, September 8, 2007, 13:17:50 There we go.
Alonso Hamilton Massa Heidfeld Raikkonen Kubica Kovalainen Rosberg Trulli Button  Can't see Ferrari getting the measure of McLaren tomorrow, unless they're both running heavier fuel loads. Title: Monza Italian Grand Prix Post by: pumbaa on Sunday, September 9, 2007, 16:01:02 He's had a competitive (ish) car for at least two seasons, 2005 and to a lesser degree 2006. Its easy to forget he actually scored the highest number of points in the tail end of the championship last year following his win in Hungary. Shame Honda had such a poor start. No doubt he has the ability, but frankly the car hasn't been up to snuff this year.
Dull race, McLaren 1-2, good drive by Hamilton though to pick off Raikkonen in the final stages. At best its a 3 horse race now, Massa is out of it (and one could argue Raikkonen is too). Title: Monza Italian Grand Prix Post by: Luci on Sunday, September 9, 2007, 17:46:01 Hamilton did well to keep 2nd from the start - dealt with Massa well and also did well to overtake, (yes overtake) Raikkonen to retain 2nd.
