Post by: oxford_fan on Thursday, September 6, 2007, 16:28:15
i had a figure of one hundred quid in my mind, but when it came to the bargaining i wasn't so good

man: "how much do you want for it"

me : (in my head, i said "say 100") er...make me an offer

man: forty quid

me: (say you were looking more towards a ton, and you'll probably get sixty or so) make it fifty and you've got a deal

man: done

oops

It's not too bad. I was expecting you to swap it for a happy meal or something.

Not the same. You'll be trying to push that coke zero soon.

Just been on a negotiation course and here's where your problem started.  When he said how much, you need to say "200 quid mate" then when he gets it for 95, he's thinking he's on a winner.  1st rule of negotiation - you can never negotiate up from your starting position.
