Not a bad performance from Swindon today at a sunny Huish Park.

Lots of trialists on show and all did quite well.

Mark Scott, not bad did virtually everything he had to, had no chance with the goal.

Christian Gyan, Very chunky and solid looking right back, one of the chunkiest players I have ever seen! about 5 foot 4 and very good in the air and tackle, a long throw, could be useful. Probably mid 20's in age.

Jose Gonzales, small very attacking spanish looking full back, looks experienced and was very good, good tackle, good speed and ran well with the ball, must be the wrong side of 30 tho by the look of his greying hair!

Chris Blackburn, looked very good, probably our best player, cultured on the ball and good in the air and tackle.

Mauro Almeida, another Portuguese or Spanish looking (e.g. well tanned!) looked good on the floor and not bad in the air, looked early 20's and quite well built, similar build to Blacky if not a bit chunkier.

Lloyd Macklin, looked very good running at people but crossing was poor, good cynically hacked down and had to go off in the end, a very good performance.

Chris Allen, looked very comfortable on the ball, 50% of his passes went where they should go, a good game for the youngster.

Steve Adams, looks still pretty unfit, or lazy, looks good on the ball and runs round a lot, PS rates him though and thats good enough for me! he did ok, nothing outstanding but solid.

Andy Caton, 1st half he looked wasted and not interested and was berated by David Byrne, 2nd half he looked better but has put on a lot of weight and has lost a lot of speed, he has to buck his ideas up to get back in the 1st team squad, got taken off just when he started performing!

Kaid Mohamed, very lively, 1st touch was excellent but second touch was pretty poor as was his shooting, still played well and looked promising, but probably isnt the 20 goals striker we need....just yet.

Nathan Thompson, very impressive player, looks like a striker but played well behind the front player/players in a more right sided midfield role, the spitting image of Fola Onionbhaji, well over 6 foot, probably 6 foot 5 and like a bean pole! good control, good passing, took his goal very well breaking through from midfield outpacing the defenders, could be a very promising player for the future.

Ben Tozer came on late and played just behind the front 2 and out wide left, wasnt expecting that when hes a centre back! looked a bit off the pace and made no impression.

Overall a good game of free flowing football well wortht he £2 entry fee!

No sign whatsoever of Brez though :(

Cheers John.

Interesting to see that Brez wasn't there, despite him being named in the team on the OS prior to kick off (But not now).

Would be reasonable to assume he's on his way then.

The grey haired player, Jose Gonzales, may not be that  old. His picture's on the OS and he looks to be in his early twenties. Maybe just a bad dye job?

It might be Steve, but he did look like he'd been around the block a few times!

I asked Sloop (John B) about Brez and he said I cant say anything on that. Whether he meant he couldnt tell me or wouldnt tel me I dont know!

Luggy just laughed when I said where Brez!

If it's the same Gyan from Ghana he was at Feyenoord a couple of seasons back.  Google has him down at 28 and still at Feyenoord albeit on loan and is a big fella...

Presume he has International caps or dual nationality if we're looking at signing him.

Thats the bloke, tiny less than 5 foot 6 and soooo chunky and pretty good too.

I was told he was Dutch, so probably dual nationality. But thats definatly him even though he now sports a shaved head.

 Bit embarrassing! The picture is of one of the Yeovil players.

You'd have thought the green and white hoops would've been a giveaway.................

Thanks JJ

I know that Collier is angling to get Caton to Supermarine for a spell........................perhaps this is what he needs in order to loose the pounds, and remind him that his mates are now semi pro whilst there is still a chance for him as a full time pro, and he needs to start working a little harder

Lick my Arse Orifice sokay Steve, its just he really did look pretty old, well in his 30's, but very cultured too and good attacking, shortish, very mediterranean looking and greying hair on the sides, as for Gyan, I would sign him up, he loks classy even though he did make one mistake that led to the goal, otherwise he didnt put a foot wrong.

And he speaks good english too which is useful with Sloop and Luggy there not to mention the dulcet(!) tones of David Byrne! who had to be warned of his foul language!

I think he does need to lose at least a stone, hes obviosuly not lost his skill, but he looked so uninterested and a good part time kick up the back side may bring him into line, because hes got too much talent to totally waste, shame really, not sure why Byrne was constantly barricking him though, it seemed to get him down and only started playing when he swapped sides at half time and away from the dugout side of the pitch.
