Title: Calderwood Vs Ling
Post by: Dazzza on Thursday, March 31, 2005, 16:56:52
This weekend as Northampton take on Orient.  Both have done well in their short careers so far with CC having a decent budget and Ling operating on a shoe string.

Both apparently are still good mates so it should make for an interesting clash.

Will be interesting to see how both turn out in the long run and if either are likely candidates for a Town position in the future.

Of the two so far I might have to say Ling edges it a touch.  Orient have had a steady enough improvement operating without a pot to piss in while Calderwood has in comparison has had a Kings ransom to build his own team but fallen a little short of the mark so far.

From what I can work out from other forums Orient fans dont seem to have much time for Ling.

Neither of them have done well. Orient were top of the league in october but have now fallen into the bottom half of the table, even below Oxford. Northampton made the playoffs last year but have not improved and will be lucky to scrape into them this year, if he's had a decent budget to spend that is very poor, King's had a very small budget and done just as well in a higher league.

Don't think either of them would make good managers for us, probably do about as well as Jimmy Quinn.

Im not sure id want an ex town player (that did well for us) as a new manager...If everything goes wrong, well he'd soon turn into a king like figure who we cant stand.

Yep, definitely best to keep them as legendary Swindon players, I hope they do well as managers but I think we should avoid appointing ex players.

We need good players who are going into management for the first time.  We did it with ossie, hoddle, mcmahon (sorry) and people like sheringham would be ideal

Not going to hartlepool....tut tut
