I'm going to Plymouth vs. Ipswich with my a TractorBoy supporting mate of mine.

 :?

I've got various people giving me updates though! Got to be careful - I punched the air and shouted yes after hearing that Swindon were winning at H-T when I accompanied the missus to Ashton Gate last season . I got some dodgy looks that day.

Either way C'MON SWINDON!

I thought overall we looked pretty good for much of the match against Charlton and we did create chances (It was only in the 2nd half they began to show us up)

Luton are no where near that quality, so I think we'll just edge it 2.1.

1-1 i reckon. The only hope we've got is that the average age of lutons squad is 54, but even then i can't see us breaking them down too many times.

That's what she said (I'm so, so sorry   )

People are quick to look at the teamsheet and think

Quote from: "Worrier"
They're going to tonk us

But their big names must have a combined age of 300 (I'm with tans on that!) and with a bit of pace down the wings we might beat them.

When they last came here they beat us 3-2 and Newell had built a good team with no major names and they dicked League One that year.

It's either that or we fall down in the box and win some penalties!!!!!

I've changed my mind about us winning 2-0. I can't predict this one. It seems more like it depends on how Luton play than us and I have no idea about the Luton team.

If we can keep a clean sheet for the first half I reckon we'll win 1-0 with a goal in the second.

I am writing to you to express my concern over the sub-standard service offered by STFC World currently.

I have been trying to log in since 1445 today, to be constantly greeted by the message:

Service Unavailable - Zero size object
The server is temporarily unable to service your request. Please try again later.

Reference #15.24b23554.1187445878.fdf4fd7

Since I live about 4000 miles from Swindon, I am unable to pick up Brunel FM via a radio, so the web and STFC World are the only option available to me. Not being able to access the service that I am paying for on match day is extremely frustrating.

Whilst we are on the subject, I might as well draw your attention to the general service provided on match day by STFC World. I have been a subscriber to the service for 4 years, and frankly its unreliable at best, and despite promises galore, I have yet to see any significant improvement in the service over those 4 years. The most common problems are the Swindon commentary not being available until several minutes after kick-off (despite the opposition commentary being available)  and constant drop-off of commentary during the game. You might be interested to know that during the game with Walsall at the end of last season, arguably the most important in recent history, the commentary did not work until 10 minutes into the second half of that game.

I am totally disstaified right now and I  am keen to know how you intend to solve these problems with the service provider.

Yours sincerely etc.

Spot on. Spell-check it first though (disstaified ).

I'd also cc it to Brunel FM and Premiumtv.

Sorted the typo. Got e-mail addresses for both of those? (although to be fair to Brunel FM, I suspect this fuck-up is outside their control).

Blair did much better today, but when he has the ball outwide we still dont fill the box enough.

Easton and/or Pook need to get into the box as quickly as they can.

Thats how we got the winner, Arrieta got the ball outside, Easton ran into the box. Cross came in

2-1 thank you very much.

i remember when you had to wait 4 or 5 games before seeing a league table.

i must say we looked very, very good today. apart from up front but that's a given. 2 goals, 1 goal disallowed, and 2 attempts cleared off the line. luton as promotion favourites? you are having a laugh.

we genuinely are strong at the back, all those who doubted aljofree can start believing now. i can only remember one mistake from ifil that let furlong in, and that ended up comfortably in smith's arms. their goal was totally against the run of play, though it must be said it was a very good cross and a tremendous header (similar to northampton's goal last week, but from the other flank).

our first goal was a fantastic move up from the back, look forward to seeing a replay of it. and just when it looked like we'd be settling for a 1-1 draw, easton bundled home the second.

a couple of dropped crosses by smith but in hindsight he'd probably be punching them due to the slippery ball. defenders all looked comfortable and played with assurance and confidence. pook got about, easton calm on the ball, rarely gives the ball away and positions himself well and of course scored the winning goal. zaaboub saw less and less of the ball as the game went on but when he did have it he generally played the right pass or put in a dangerous cross. roberts, the enigma, once again showed why we tolerate his inconsistency, an absolute menace on the wing and unlucky not to be on the scoresheet.

the pitch looked good, too.

110% improvment on last week though.

It may sound sick, but I loved it at the end when Comminges and Arrieta clashed heads.

A ball in midfield, towards the end of a game we're winning and these two both sprint back and give it their all to win the header.....top stuff.

Can't remember the penalty shout, unless you mean the Roberts Town End incident, which was 100% a clean tackle.

Can someone tell me why the goal at the Stratton Bank end was disallowed? Couldn't see from the town end.

Other than that a superb display really. Made some good chances and took enough of them to win. Job done.

Blair isn't brilliant, but to give him credit he had a massive hand in the first goal, a great take and turn to open the defence and get the ball to Zaboub.

It looked like one of the defenders just bundled into the back of Roberts.
Don't really know why the goal was disallowed. My only guess was that the keeper was impeded - sat in the Arkells so had a good view as well.

Blair's only contributions to the game were setting up the goal and a couple of good crosses, other than that he was wank and needs to be dropped.

I dont think I moaned about Pook once today, he certainly looks a better player with Easton along side him. Easton was superb but Aljofree and Ifil made Peschi and Furlong look very ordinary  :D

If we can get a decent striker or 2,  and cover for Roberts we may have the makings of a decent season ahead, they were one of the favourites for the title and they did not look any better than us.

rearrange this jumbled sentence

banjo arse couldn't cows blair hit with

really wanna like the boy and was desperate for him to score to get people off his back (which includes me), but he looks like he needs a rest  :?

the open goal he missed might have cost us 2 points. that would have put us 2-0 up and with our solid backline, couldn't have seen luton getting back into the game.

ending on a positive note, WE SCORED TWO, YES TWO, GOALS-I can't believe it!

and on another positive note, a couple of me mates are rewiring sturrocks house in old town so maybe he intends to stick around for a bit if he's bought a house here. either that or he's gonna be appearing on property ladder with sarah 'big baps' beeny  :soapy tit wank:

we do need more options upfront for sure, but we created loads of chances today.luton are no mugs. their team shape was good, and its a credit to our side how we deservedly beat them.i reckon luton will be up there come the shake up and first half i thought had the better of the play despite creating no chances.
today was the first time i have seen us this term and i was overall well pleased.

Good result. Was surprised to hear we have scored two goals but I'm not complaining!!!

Decent size crowd too. Hopefully we can get a win at Cheltenham to get people flocking in - the more support the better!!!

I thought overall we looked pretty good for much of the match against Charlton and we did create chances (It was only in the 2nd half they began to show us up)

Luton are no where near that quality, so I think we'll just edge it 2.1.

Fuck the rest of you, I know what I'm talking about!!

Two goals from open play!!

All the team performed, a few loose balls here and there, but fuck it!

The display today is what Luggys team are all about, pepper their area with crosses and get players in and around the box.

Well happy.

My predictions continue to be amazing, whatever I predict we get the reverse.  8)

As for the team:

P Smith - Solid, looked comfortable. One dodgy punch/catch from a free-kick that nearly crept in.
J Smith - Consistent. Sometimes didn't know whether to close down his man or not.
Ifil - Just as you'd expect. Steady, some good tackles and extremely calm on the ball.
Aljofree - Immense. Like DV said, we've not had a better centre back since... I don't know when. Cultured footballer.
Vincent - Nothing to complain about, better than against Northampton.
Roberts - Amazing. Just like when he first signed, in his prime. Taking on fullbacks and making defenders look silly.
Easton - Very impressed, composed on the ball and very hard working. Everytime the ball got out wide he got into the box.
Pook - Had another good game, took him a while to get into it and kept loosing his footing but looked so much more assured in the second half. Nice range of passing.
Zaaboub - Better final ball. I wouldn't have given him MOTM but he definitely gave 110%.
Sturrock - Tries hard but just hasn't got it. Needs to be dropped.
Peacock - Worked hard but looks lost up front, I think he sees himself as a centre-mid now. Took his goal well, great header.

Subs:
Comminges - No lack of commitment. Played well.
Arrieta - Nice touches. Needs to be given a full 90 minutes.

i think everyone's just about covered what i wanted to say.

pretty impressive today, the work ethic has improved from last season although that is easy to say this early in the season. we look far more dangerous from corners than we did last season and i fancy aljofree and ifil to chip in with plenty of important goals from set pieces over the course of the season.

whilst we clearly lack the striker we need, we created enough chances today to score four or five goals and only one of these spurned chances was down to poor positioning by one of our strikers.

blair works hard but drifts out too wide and his positional sense is poor, doesn't read the game well enough. peacock has so successfully made the transition to a midfielder that he's forgotten how to play up front.

pook and easton were impressive today and our two supposedly lazy and disintered wingers worked hard and produced the goods today, roberts and zaaboub were our most threatening players in attack for the majority of the game.

ref was shocking, never seen a set of officials so biased towards an away team.

(p.s. that stupid backheel from pook was only a couple of yards from being an excellent pinpoint pass. i nearly died of shock)

We still need a striker but everything else is falling in to place nicely. The defence is looking solid and we created chances and passed the ball a lot better today. Im not gonna get too carried away just yet though.

Another game where we kept the peddle to the floor right to the end of the game as the opposition slacked off.

We could have had an undeserved victory last week as well, the last 10 minutes at Northampton were our most threatening.

We were good value for our win today though.

Pretty detailed match report from the racing post.

Quote

Weather: Wet and miserable.

Pitch condition: Ace. It was a shame the teams thought it was better to take the aerial route.

Best prices: 13-8 Swindon, 9-4 draw, 7-4 Luton

Was the result a fair reflection?

Just about. Both managers had probably settled for a point, but Craig Easton's 88th-minute winner was just reward for Swindon's greater energy and attacking threat. The first 45 minutes was horrible. Hasney Aljofree had a goal disallowed for pushing and the big centre-back was also denied by Matthew Spring's goalline clearance. The second half was much brighter and Lee Peacock put the home side ahead with a bullet header from a superb Sofiene Zaaboub centre. A great Dave Edwards flicked header drew the Hatters level, but Easton's scrappy winner gave Swindon maximum points. Christian Roberts also had an effort cleared off the line.

How did Swindon play?

Paul Sturrock's team are at their most dangerous from set-pieces. Aljofree is a major threat from corners, while Jerel Ifil, Christian Roberts and Lee Peacock also giveSwindon a major aerial menace. Town play at a high tempo and look to hurry teams into mistakes. Roberts and Zaaboub provide a direct approach from the wings and not many sides will enjoy playing against them this season.

How did Luton play?

Kevin Blackwell has instilled a direct approach since replacing Mike Newell, but they ended up playing too many balls to Paul Furlong, who was excellent in the first half but lacked support up front. The shame is when Luton did get the ball down and play they looked a decent outfit. Spring was not involved enough and the same can be said of Darren Currie, who was often bypassed but did send over a brilliant cross which led to Luton's equaliser.

Star of the show

Furlong was Luton's best player, but the award goes to Zaaboub. The left-winger is a real crowd favourite and it's easy to see why. His delivery from set-pieces and out wide was top-drawer.

Villain of the piece

Peschisolido was an embarrassment and it was a surprise to seehim last 62 minutes before being substituted. His first touch was dreadful and he also looked in poor physical shape.

Golden moment

Zabooub's flick-up and subsequent back heel must be a contender for Soccer AM's showboat feature on Saturday.

Ref watch

Most lower-league football supporters would nominate arbiter Singh as one of the worst refs on the scene and he lived up to his reputation. It's not an easy job, but he makes so many simple mistakes.

Pointers

Swindon should survive comfortably after promotion last season and will enjoy playing against the less physical sides in this division. Aljofree is the target at every corner and he will reward first goalscorers at a fancy price at least once this season. Luton cannot be considered a value selection at 14-1 for the title on this evidence. They need to get more out of their flair players, although this is admittedly early days for a new team which could need time to come together.

Line-ups and ratings:

Swindon (4-4-2): P Smith 6; J Smith 7, J Ifil 7, H Aljofree 7, J Vincent 7; C Roberts 7, C Easton 6, M Pook 6, S Zaaboub 8 (M Comminges 83, 5); L Peacock 7, B Sturrock 6 (I Arrieta 69, 6).
Luton (4-4-2): D Brill 5; R Jackson 5, C Coyne 7, C Perry 6, A Goodall 7; D Edwards 7, M Spring 5, S Robinson 6, D Currie 6 (D Talbot 75, 6; P Furlong 7 (D Morgan 89, 5), P Peschisolido 3 (P McVeigh 62, 6).
Referee: J Singh 4

MATCH STATS

Swindon 2 Luton 1

ABOUT THE GROUND

Getting there The County Ground is next to the magic roundabout, which is a case of closing your eyes and hoping for the best. The stadium is ten minutes from the train station and a safer route than tackling the five mini-roundabouts.

The ground Bring an umbrella if you are in the away end. “You're shit and you're getting wet,” was the sympathetic view from the home supporters.
Atmosphere A crowd of 7,520 may not seem large, but the Swindon faithful make a fair old racket and it can be an intimidating venue for away teams to visit.

Having a bet

Programme

He claims to have snogged Hollyoaks babe Gemma Atkinson in Magaluf in 2002. Cristiano Ronaldo's girlfriend has obviously moved up the league ladder quicker than Nicholas
