Title: England Squad V Germany

If a players fitness is guranteed that he won't play then why the hell pick him?

I can understand the selection of those with question marks but what is Mclaren doing, especially recalling Sol Campbell (although I'll prob get slated I just don't rate him).

Thats what I thought why pick a squad that contains 6 players who are not 100% fit. Unless it is to get team-bonding before the qualifiers.

For anybody who cares here is our squad for the match:
Hildebrand, Lehmann
Freidrich,Lahm, Mertesacker,Metzelder,Pander,Tasci
Hilbert,Hitzlsperger,Khedira,Rolfes,Schneider,Schweinsteiger,Trochowski
Helmes,Kießling,Klose,Kuranyi

Think Sol is back, because of a shortage of available central defenders. An interesting stat I heard is that of the 200 odd players starting Prem games at the weekend 70 odd were English.

Which means a squad of 20 odd is about 30% of players....so not a great choice...which is probably why Keiron Dyer gets the nod.

Yeah i don't understand why McClaren would recall a defender who is probably in the best form of his career?

I have never rated Campbell, just my opinion.

I seriously still don't understand why England managers are so desperate to pick Owen regardless of form or fitness...

Lucky your not the England manager then.

Although you may do a better job?

We surely can't lose to a team managed by Joachim Löw.

Not with an MLS player in our team anyway  8)

I hope we can at least create some decent chances, something we haven't done for a long time.

Sol Campbell shouldnt have been dropped from the England squads to start with....he is still a class act at his age.

However I do look at that squad and think its a bit shit.....how many serious world class players are there? Fuck knows why anyone expects us to win anything, the quality is that squad is awful.

Look at the keepers we've got Robinson, Carson and James - none of whom are any good. James has been on good form, last year but I think part of that was because he wasnt an England goal keeper anymore

Wes Brown, Phil Neville and Nicky Shorey!?

Kieron Dyer ffs!!

Then the strikers, bloody hell Owen, Smith, Bent, Defoe, Crouch and Johnson - not alot of goals in that at all is there.

I know they didnt all cut it at international level but Andy Cole, Robbie Fowler, Ian Wright and Alan Shearer all used to hit 20 goals a season!!

The feeling for the England team seems to have fallen through apathy now and into an active dislike. I might buy a Germany shirt for this game.

I doubt it, he's moved down to London to be with his boyfriend Mr. Jenas....

More booze, drugs and whatever else.

Jürgen Klinsmann > Steve McLaren

Joachim Löw comes from Baden = hero
Joachim Löw took Karlsruher SC down to the regional league in his one and only season as manager there (1999/2000) = utter villain
Joachim Löw recalled Kevin Kuranyi = idiot

Joachim Kätzchen would be a better name for him.

No such thing as a B international or Friendly against Germany - this is about national pride - they won the last fixture at Wembley, they bloody better not win their first match at the New Wembley or McClaren to be hung from the Tower of London by his balls for the week.

Come on England beat those ..................

Sorry was a bit harsh.

But this game is pretty unimportant. Excuse for loads of Liverpool, Man U and Arsenal fans to unite in the pubs in a bond of twatishness.

Spot on, armchair no-nothings united for one big fest of no-nothing bollocks spouting while trying to convince anyone who will listen that they know just about everything about England, and are the most hardcore England fans because they bought and shirt and put something tacky in the car....

When it comes to a saturday, they are of course sat in front of Soccer Saturday with Jeff and the gang....

Yup, I've got a Blackburn 93/94 (I think) shirt with Number 9 and Shearer on the back

Mainly because Alan Shearer was fucking awesome.

....and something to do with them being Manchester Uniteds rivals for the title and every one at school supporting Manchester United.

I bought one that year, simply because most people i played Footy with supported Man Utd and it pissed them off a treat.

Trio pull out of England friendly

Gerrard (left) and Hargreaves are likely to miss the Wembley game
England will be without Steven Gerrard, Owen Hargreaves and Darren Bent for the friendly against Germany on Wednesday.

They join Portsmouth defender Sol Campbell on the sidelines.

Liverpool skipper Gerrard will rest his broken toe, while Manchester United's Hargreaves is still feeling pain from his knee injury.

David Beckham is hopeful of featuring at Wembley, despite reporting some swelling in his troublesome ankle after playing for LA Galaxy on Saturday.

More to follow.

I would play Hildebrand mainly due to the recent errors of Lehmann
