Surely the worst international on the circuit for years.

Discuss.

I agree in a way. Although if they were to keep referring to it, then it could slow the game up. Maybe something along the lines of what they do in Tennis now where the players get 3 lives. So if a player disagrees with an umpiring decision then it goes to hawk eye. Maybe 3 lives in a session or something like that?

I feel sorry for umpires these days, they make so many top notch decisions but they are always going to make the odd mistake. But with the technology the tv companies have these days they are able to highlight these errors. 10 years ago this wouldnt have happened and they would get away with the incorrect decisions.

I don't agree.Hawkeye isn't always right, its just a television aid for viewers and as such shouldn't be used by the umpires.Mistakes are made but do usually even themselves up over the course of a test match or series.

Howell has been pretty awful though, but on the plus side at least the game will actually finish with both the teams still on the field today unlike last year :)

hawkeye only predicts what will happen, not illustrates what has happened as it does in tennis. for that reason alone hawkeye should not be relied upon.

Hawkeye all the time would be rediculous, Warne, Panesar and their ilk will appeal for anything. It should be an option for the close ones, but not permanent or binding.

That's fine if you want two day test matches and 4 appeals an over.

Have there ever been any comparisons done between Hawkeye and reality ? - eg get someone to bowl with no batsmen and film where the ball really goes, compared to where Hawkeye thinks it's going   ? That's the only way to prove the accuracy IMO.
