Title: Easter Eggs?
Post by: Dazzza on Friday, August 10, 2007, 17:16:10
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11750_2653829,00.html

Quote
The race to sign Jermaine Easter is firmly on after Franchise and Swindon Town both lodged bids for the Welsh international, skysports.com can confirm.

The 25-year-old striker is set to start the season with Wycombe but his long-term future appears to be very much in doubt.

Both the Dons and Robins have now made firm offers but it is understood a host of other clubs are ready to launch counter bids.

Interest mounts

Cardiff, Swansea, Bristol City, Millwall and Queens Park Rangers are also amongst the clubs said to be looking at the player.

Easter has always admitted he is happy with The Chairboys, but he may find the option to move tempting.

Wycombe will decide on Easter's future over the coming days but may find it hard to hang onto one of the most highly-rated players in the lower leagues.

i would imagine this is agent talk to stir up a bidding war.

Also would take a decent fee to prize him away (as it would Asamoah).

Interesting!

19 goals in 28 appearances last season 15 of those as a sub.  8 in eighteen at Stockpork the season before.  He's one of those that has had a lot of clubs but until last season never really got a lot of games under his belt.

Decent record where he's been mind and got 7 in 7 in the league cup last year.

That said they paid 80k for him last season and I can't see Wycombe letting him go on the cheap.  They're thinner up top than Fatbury.

that's exactly the signing we need.

will never, ever happen.

Franchise have just received £1m+ for mcleod so they'll be able to top whatever we can offer.

30% went to Derby though and it's 1.1 mil to start with, granted that's still a lot of money but the stadium has cost a lot more than they anticipated, furthermore if Easter chose MK then he's a cock anyway.

Except league one football.

Had to get that motherfucka in.

That said they slapped a £675,000 price tag on their "ace hitman in an effort to ward predators away and have not received an offer since Romanian first division outfit Universitatea Craiova made a move for him in December."

Plus I think he's sniffing around trying to get back in the Welsh squad by the sounds of it.

Were the hell have we got the money to lodge a bid for jermaine easter  the takeover isnt done yet so how can we enter in to the transfer market.Surley he wont be a cheap buy after last seasons cup run and remember he scored against chelsea if i remember  wycombe  wanted 750,000 pounds for him we cant compete with that surley.

If we have lodged a serious bid for Easter it suggests the 'takeover/investment' is done bar the shouting.

I'll be amazed if our offer matches Wycombe's valuation, even if the takeover goes through.

Scored against Chelsea in the cup if my memory serves me correctly.

I remember Gary Johnson wanted him at Bristol City but he pulled out because he wasn't happy with Easter's attitude when they met to discuss a deal pre-Wycombe.

Title: Easter Eggs?
Post by: Kinky Tom on Friday, August 10, 2007, 18:35:39
Perhaps his attitude was that Shitty is a crap club and he would rather die than play for them...

Title: Easter Eggs?

How the hell can we afford him, I think Sturrock is after anotehr target man type though not a speedy forward...although he would be good but can only see it as either Agent talk (who is his agent ?) or Wycombe wanting to sell so link him with a few club's looking for strikers to bump his price up

Yep, sounds about right.

Easter hasn't played above L1 - I find it incredible that such price tags have been suggested.

He's not even close to the scoring exploits of Trundle - surely 3 Wales caps doesn't up his price!

Very interesting. This is the most clear indication yet the a deal has finally been done with the new consortium. Maybe we will be signing players like this?  This can't be us acting without them Portuguese fellers though as Wycombe would want at least 500k i would have thought.

hmmm i dont know. He tailed off badly in the second half of last season, and his attitude seems abit shitty. if we were gonna spend 500k plus, then i reckon there must be someone better to spend it on

I believe it's probably bollocks but he would be a very good signing indeed.  he offers the one thing nobody else does, a real threat, even when not scoring.  He looked very dangerous against us.

Few of the chit chat sites are reporting we have lodged a bid now.

Probably a case of lazy journo feeding off Sky Sports.  Who was the last 500k purchase, Alexander?

He tailed off badly because Wycombe did to be fair. Was scoring when they were flying but if there are no chances how can you score?

I saw Chris Blackburn on the way home from the pub last night. As it happens he was having a piss in a flower pot on Faringdon Road outside the chinese chip shop. I said "Alright Chris!"

I was wearing my Swindon shirt and we got chatting, he asked me what i thought of the match in Northampton. I told him it was ok, but we are toothless upfront and need another striker and he told me not to worry because he thinks we are going to sign Easter.

It was his own personal opinion but it shows that it isn't just lazy journalism, we are actually trying to sign him.

We aren't creating many chances either though, so whos to say he wouldn't score here.

Why not andy bishop from bury. Managed to score 20 goals last season in a god-awful side, and would probably cost a hell of a lot less than easter would.

We created a fair number of chances on Saturday.

The problem was we didn't have anyone who could take them..........

Not exactly a great comparison, people see Pook and Nicholas out pretty much every weekend, and their performances don't exactly make up for their drinking exploits ......also not exactly the cleverest thing to do when both have been done for drink driving in the last few years. As professionals you'd think they'd have the common sense to keep a low profile for a while after being done by the courts but alas no.

Yeah, and as a professional who isn't even first choice in his position, you'd have thought Blackburn would be concentrating on getting into the starting eleven, not going out and getting pissed.

When you refer to Pook and Nicho, when did you last see them out, or heard from a reliable source that they were pissing it up?

Firm bids required...

http://www.thisislocallondon.co.uk/sport/sporttopstories/display.var.1614894.0.blues_make_us_an_offer_for_easter.php

Sounds very much like agents and the club are talking up his availability as the clock ticks on the final year of his contract.
