Title: Bill Power Post by: red macca on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, 11:18:26 So is it fair to say apart from the £1.2m that we have seen the back of bill power then.Shame he could not take over the club but i have to admit i have been a bit disapointed with the lack of information coming from power and co.
Still think his heart was in the right place just a bit of a shame how this has ended up. Got a feeling the trust may have a bit of rebuilding to do after all this has passed Title: Re: Bill Power Post by: Fred Elliot on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, 11:24:23 Quote from: "red macca" So is it fair to say apart from the £1.2m that we have seen the back of bill power then Errrrmmmm no Title: Bill Power Post by: RobertT on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, 11:24:29 One way or another it should bring everything to a conclusion. If the takeover is real, they should have the money ready incase Power wins his case and we start afresh.
If the takeover is not all it was cracked up to be, Power wins and they can't afford it then we go back to the FC being an option. If Power loses, then the club has one less debt. Looks to me like he's going to take his money and the as far away from STFC as possible Title: Bill Power Post by: STFC_Gazzza on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, 11:41:12 Western Daily Press says that "Western Daily Press understands that Bill Power has not totally given up on the fans consortium wanting to take over the club" or something to that extent.
Title: Bill Power Post by: fatbury on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, 11:46:34 of course he hasnt given up ... I for one havent given up on him either
Title: Bill Power Post by: Colin Todd on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, 11:58:24 If I was him I'd give up as its pretty bloody obvious that he is not going to be buying the club.
Which is a pity. Title: Bill Power Post by: Samdy Gray on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, 12:01:38 IIRC correctly, Bill's said he wants to know who the mystery foreign consortium are so that he can meet up with them to discuss potential further investment.
Title: Bill Power Post by: Fred Elliot on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, 12:13:34 IMO things needed to be brought to a head one way or another, and this will do it.
Lets see the whites of their eyes so to speak. The FC has not gone away and to a degree Samdy is correct. Lets see what happens in the next 48hrs and what potential ramifications with the "new investors" there may be Lets face it...................this has not come as a shock. Bill said that he would do it and now he has Title: Bill Power Post by: sheepshagger on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, 12:24:03 Don't really like the timing of this though - 3 days before the start of the season - seems easy to look at it and say it is too calculated me thinks........

Bill said that he would do it and now he has Spot on Fred. We all knew BP was going to want his money back and rightly so. The key to this news is the timing of it. BP has struck just at the right time in my eyes. We don't know for sure but by the looks of things the takeover is almost a done deal. Whether we see these investors run a mile at the news or finally reveal who they are remains to be seen. What i do hope is that the situation is resolved rapidly and doesn't affect the teams performance on the pitch for the coming season. Title: Bill Power Post by: Summerof69 on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, 12:52:47 Of course, it was this time last season where the infamous 'rift' happened, with Bill P wanting more say where his money went to.
We all knew this was coming. Bill P said it was coming a month ago, so no surprises there. So it's time for our board (and investors) to pay up...or go away. And a message for Bill P.... Don't accept a payment play over x amount of years...as we all know how well they keep to those. Title: Bill Power Post by: Simon Pieman on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, 13:46:01 If they can pay off BP that's the end of him I reckon. I can't see him pursuing a takeover when it would seem like he's just banging his head against the wall (and who would blame him). If they can't pay BP then the takeover is still very much on. That's how I see it anyway.
Title: Bill Power Post by: FlashGordon on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, 15:03:00 If he gets his money back he'll go running back to 'his' club QPR and put the money in there.

I don't think so. The QPR debt is a lot higher than ours...and he doesn't like Paladini. Title: Bill Power Post by: FlashGordon on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, 15:31:34 I wouldnt blame him either, its the club he supports tho so there is a geniune passion there...
I thought Paladini was on his way out as well? Title: Bill Power Post by: RobertT on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, 15:35:42 Paladani has been using the "up for sale" line as frequently as SSW (via Diamandis) used it. He's offered it for sale about 3 times in public now over the past 2 years.
It'd cost too much to buy anyway. Paladani is just the front man for a Consortium that has control, he'd have to buy them all out which would be way more than he previously ever had in the club. Title: Bill Power Post by: FlashGordon on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, 15:41:23 ah right i see, still wouldnt be suprised to see Power going back there sometime in the future and investing in a club he has an affliation to
Title: Bill Power Post by: Simon Pieman on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, 16:17:35 If he got his money back it wouldn't surprise me to see him give up on football completely (in an investment sense).
Title: Bill Power Post by: Phil_S on Thursday, August 9, 2007, 11:29:40 Bill has not in the last year ever done or said anything that is against the interests of STFC.
I trust him implicitly, & I'm absolutely sure he will do the right thing by us. I also believe Mike Wilkes, when he said "we are still there". It does look like the fans consortium is dead from the outside, but I wouldn't bet on it. (I have no inside knowledge, but have listened to what has been said) |
