Title: Sturrock... Post by: flammableBen on Sunday, August 5, 2007, 04:31:27 He'll go in October I reckon. October is clearly the best month to lose a manger. Teams generally do well when changing managers a few months into the season. I don't know why they don't do it more often.
I'll be suprised if we get anybody who's achieved more than Andy King in as manager. Title: Sturrock... Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Sunday, August 5, 2007, 08:37:25 No he'll stay at least until the takeover is complete. After that is anyones guess.
Title: Sturrock... Post by: Batch on Sunday, August 5, 2007, 09:05:30 Reg, is Bart your alter-ego for the yoof :)
I think he'll stay, but sometimes takeovers result in strange things happening I suppose. Title: Sturrock... Post by: herthab on Sunday, August 5, 2007, 09:16:40 It'll cost the club to get rid of him, due to the 18 month lock in.
It'll cost another club to poach him for the same reason. I can't see him walking and, if the teams doing well, I can't see why the club would get rid. It's all pointless speculation anyway, at the moment he's our manager. He'll leave at some point, they all do, but, apart from unproven rumour about the new investors, why would he go? Title: Sturrock... Post by: Simon Pieman on Sunday, August 5, 2007, 09:19:38 Because he knows he can never match Andy King's quality management skills.
Title: Sturrock... Post by: Spencer_White on Sunday, August 5, 2007, 09:20:43 It will be him walking Herthab.
The team has no balance, and he knows it. Plus the possibility of the -10. He wont want a relegation on his record. Title: Sturrock... Post by: herthab on Sunday, August 5, 2007, 09:27:46 We need 3 players.
A creative midfielder and two strikers. That's all, imho, we lack at the moment. This is Sturrocks team, he's picked the new players and they know what he wants. Whilst it was disappointing yesterday, I firmly believe we'll see a much better performance at Northampton. Sturrock has achieved promotions by building solid teams that are hard to beat and this is what he's doing here. Get the wingers performing, add a cutting edge and we'll do ok. I like to see Comminges as a winger, he's got pace, skill and can cross! Title: Sturrock... Post by: Matchworn Shirts on Sunday, August 5, 2007, 09:37:06 Quote from: "herthab" We need 3 players. A creative midfielder and two strikers. indeed, but will we get them? Title: Sturrock... Post by: Spencer_White on Sunday, August 5, 2007, 09:38:56 Herthab, I can see that way of thinking. The team is far better than they have shown over pre season.
But I think what Reg might be getting at is the possibility of these football agents comming in. They arent going to be saying, 'Mr Sturrock, please look at these players and pick the ones you like', it will be we need these players in the team so we can sell them. Title: Sturrock... But at the moment (And no disrespect to Reg) I'm taking all these rumours with an extremely big bag of salt :D I don't know what's gonna happen down the line and refuse to treat these rumours as fact. Title: Sturrock... Post by: Ardiles on Sunday, August 5, 2007, 10:11:08 If we get the 10 point deduction, Sturrock will be gone in a flash. And even if we don't, the only thing that would keep him here now is if our still 'mystery investor' really does produce £5m+ worth of investment. (And I say that because he will not want to tarnish his record with us, simply to play ball with the opaque business dealings of Diamandis.) I won't hold my breath.
Sturrock took us up and would have wanted to maintain the momentum in to this season. That momentum has run in to a brick wall. By now we should have made several signings that demonstrate we mean business next year...and we haven't. We have been signing squad players. Title: Sturrock... Yeah, cos Aljorfree, Corr, Easton, Adams, Comminges........ They're all squad players aren't they? Utter rubbish. We need 2 or 3 players, who will probably be loanees. Lower league sides, in the main, rely on loan signings we are no different. it would be great if we went up again, but I think Sturrock is enough of a realist to know that consolidation in League one is the most important thing. if this issue is not addressed quickly we will struggle to win games in league 1. our moody wide players also are a problem.so a half decent centre midfield and defence aint enough to satisfy most town fans imo Title: Sturrock... It isn't enough... last season was a poor excuse for a game of football the way we played a large percentage of the time, and at times painful to watch. What I am wondering is that without a strikeforce, is 46 0-0 draws enough to keep us up :)if this issue is not addressed quickly we will struggle to win games in league 1. our moody wide players also are a problem.so a half decent centre midfield and defence aint enough to satisfy most town fans imo Title: Sturrock...
