Apparently on trail at the moment, played last night v Fairford. Do we really need another keeper unless one is on the way?
Having said that he is 19 and could be one for the future

Long term vision is only what I can think of.

Least now we are finally seeing movement in transfers.

Thisis has ben updated today and no mention of Constantine and McGoldrick as per the WDP.

I do not really use that as a creditable source and would be shocked if either one of those players came here esp Constantine.

No I know what you mean, however normally thisis would mention small rumors etc, which leads me to think even more it is crap from the WDP.

 Never thought I would say this but I agree with Fatbury.  Can picture Sturrock going to our board asking for money for a striker but as they don't have any they have asked what have we got left we could sell.....Brezovan.  Bring in another keeper on a free, cash in on Brez and buy a striker.  Could be completely out but with our board you cant help but feel synical  :(

That'll be the transfer embargo-ed Leeds who've already lined up deals for Brondby keeper Casper Ankergren and Watford's Scott Loach...

It's possibility, but so's me getting a BJ from both BB twins...

This guy sounds a little better than Jon Stewart tho, played for Marseille and Hearts he may be a little less reluctant to be a 3rd choice keeper.

You can hardly put Jon Stewart in the same bracket tho, this new guy has played for Marseille and Hearts and has other clubs interested in him.  Jon Stewart had probably played for a Sunday League club and has only had non league interest since.

I wouldn't mind selling one of our keepers. The decision on who starts next season would send my brain mental and I'm always going to feel bad for the loser.

So for my own mental health, Sturrock should definitely off load either Brez or Smith and replace them with a crazy youngster who ends up ace and hurts my brain again.

What do we need the most, a striker or 3 keepers?

If Sturrocks been told he has to offload before he can bring anyone in, who have we got that will bring in some cash?

If Brez goes, he goes. Smithy did wonders last season and if this new bloke is any good, he'd be an ideal back up.

We are a selling club, we would be whoever was in charge. if Sturrock has to do this to get the team he needs, so be it.

It's all crap though, Brez aint going anywhere.........

Not a fan of having keepers on short term loans, unless they are something special ala Shay Given. I can't imagine he'd be on much considering his lack of experience and age.

Idle speculation, namely we need strikers, have 2 good goalkeepers so avoid signing strikers but get an unknown goalkeeper who we don't need.

This doesn't strike me as the work of a rational man, which I consider Sturrock to be.

OK. I've gone away and had a think over a glass of wine and a cream cracker or two (Things often seem a lot clearer when you do that)

I agree that no team at our level has three keepers (other than some kid from the youth team who does no more than sit on the bench at best)

I think Sturrock is controlling this situation though. I agree with the theory that if this French kid is ok (perhaps he will play him at Exeter tomorrow) he will look to off load Brez to the highest bidder so that he can make a decent offer for Asamoah who it looks like will cost some money due to having a year left on his contract and the fact that Nice are supposedly interested. That is how I see this unfolding.

Let's face it. Anyone who thinks that any club in Division 3 could possibly hold on to two keepers of the calibre of Smith and Brezovan for any length of time is kidding themselves.

That's my bit of idle speculation for the day 8)

Totally agree, at times Luggy did not even have 2 keepers on the bench last season when Brez was playing, so that would mean that we would have 2 keepers and one would not even get on the bench or play in the reserves as Luggy likes all his players that don't play in the 1st team to play in the reserves to keep fitness levels up.

Brez's english is really good now as well so he can communicate with the defence effectively.

There were scouts watching Brez last season before he got injured, and the clubs may have rekindled their interest now he has shown he is over his injury, to have 2 keepers of the calibre of Smith & Brez at this level is unusual, and remember it cost us to buy Brez when at the time they was saying there was no money.

I would imagine that there has been interest shown in Brez and that Sturrock is covering his bases by having a look at this young lad in case anything comes of it and it would give him a ready made replacement if the lad is of a decent standard.

IF and I say if Brez does go surely we would be able to command a good fee for him and decent add on's as well, but it may be Smith that is being looked at though....

I would say either keeper would be able to hold their own in the championship though.

Why? Who's buying us, Roman Abramovich's brother?

Even when (If) the takeover is complete, we'll still sell players to balance the books, squad wise.

Just like 99% of lower league clubs.

As I said in my first post though, I don't think Brez is going anywhere just yet. He spent most of last season injured, if anyone was going to come in for him, I imagine it'll be more likely to happen in January once he's proved he's as good as he was before the break.

brez was injured before sturrock came to the club, it was wise who often omitted a sub keeper as williams was a capable emergency replacement, much like warnock did at sheff utd for awhile.

The way i see it is that this new chap is being forced on sturrock by brevvet, meaning brezovan will be sold to fund Diamandis supply of cuban cigars. Then smith and this new chap will be sold for a combined fee of 500k, wich will then be spent on re-painting the town end toilets, and buying three more defenders. we will then continue to play rush and skully troughout the season, whilst also playing in skins.

OR, this new chap has been brought in as one for the future. but that seems to reasonable

Fuck the new bloke. he's one of many random trialists forced upon Sturrock me thinks.

The whole Brez vs. Smith thing is absolutely insane. They're the 2 best keepers we've had since Digby (maybe Talia on a good day).

But having both is a waste. I'd prefer to keep Brez. I dunno if I've been believing Dennis Wise too much, but I sort of agree that he looks a bit of a class above. I wouldn't be too bothered if we sold either of them though, just not both.
