Title: my money Post by: Bennett on Sunday, July 22, 2007, 09:19:54 thursday-i check my account, it's £100 from my overdraft limit
friday-i get paid weekly still at work...phone up to check cos it was raining a bit friday at lunch n didn't fancy a wander up to barclays to check i got paid. "blah blah £250 over your overdraft limit"...strange thinks i....i got paid today. phone the agency "did i get paid?" "yup" stranger...so i get drenched going to barclays to realise i have been paid and there's a massive difference between my statement balance and my "actual balance. "what's the difference between these two balances for?", helpful barclays lady "that's a withdrawl that's pending", "oh....where's the money going?! i think i'd remember spending £487", "dunno you have to wait for it to come out and then it'll show" go back to work wet and fuming, colleague suggests it's a direct debit that'll drop off so i let it go thinking i'll find out monday when the account updates saturday- i had nothing else to do (didn't fancy spending money incase i had made a horrendous mistake with money!) so i think i'd phone up and find out if my account has settled down. "blah blah £550 over your overdraft limit" put phone down, phone again.. "blah blah £550 over your overdraft limit. press this that the other for these things...press 6 to speak to someone" me-"hi i was wondering if you can see the last few transactions on my account?" chris at barclays-"yup...*pause*...are you abroad at the moment?" me-"umm no, i'm in swindon" chris- "there have been some withdrawls somewhere*" (* can't remember where) me-"oh...is that a shop or something" chris-"no it's in croatia" me-"ah...well can i be put through to your fraud team please haha" nicky at fraud at barclays-"can i verify you first?" me-"course you can nicky" nicky-"ok, who do you share the account with?" me- HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA what? no one, or i thought as it was no one. " (what a fucking question!!! :soapy tit wank: ) nicky-"haha oh yeah. sorry haha" cards cancelled, going to branch monday to go through my statements and fill out reclaiming form. thought i'd share with you Title: my money Post by: Lash_sumthin on Sunday, July 22, 2007, 09:32:15 ouch

Title: my money Post by: blinkpip on Sunday, July 22, 2007, 11:43:35 bennett, what cash points/websites have you been using? Just so we can all avoid them.
I think it would stress me out like mad. Title: my money Post by: STFC Village on Sunday, July 22, 2007, 13:50:45 Similar thing happened to me a few years back. Had to reclaim about £600, as i'd had my card nicked over a weekend and the card couldn't be cancelled properly 'til monday morning. So some fucker went out and got his house redecorated at my expense, by the looks of my bank statement
Title: my money Post by: flammableBen on Sunday, July 22, 2007, 13:57:41 I told you I could see your pin number.
Title: my money Post by: Bedford Red on Tuesday, July 24, 2007, 16:51:07 I sympathise a lot more with you after my c/c company rang me at work about 2 hours ago to check some "unusual transactions" and some bastard has got hold of my details and maxed my card out on holidays etc
They are going to refund it all but it's all the hassle in the meantime. Title: my money Post by: Bedford Red on Thursday, April 3, 2008, 19:20:01 Following on from this, another of my cards has been "scammed" i have found out today.
Once this is sorted I am closing all my credit cards down, they are causing me too much stress! I wouldn't mind but i only use supposidly secure sites on the internet etc (e.g. Amazon) and normal shops in town, only takes one dodgy person i guess. Title: my money Post by: Red81 on Thursday, April 3, 2008, 19:36:11 We found a device on an ATM at Sainsburys today. Couldn't tell it was even on there to loook at, but basically when you put your card into the machine as normal, it must send your information to a laptop/pc, and then they can use your account info, pin etc. as they wish. I had used this particular ATM this morning so i cancelled my card, just to be on the safe side. I'm inconvenienced by not being able to spend any money for a week whilst waiting for my new card, which isn't really that big a deal, but I do feel sorry for all the people that are gonna get there accounts drained by these bastards and be none the wiser.

You shouldn't be expected to have to do that. Shut them all down and sign up accounts for websites/credit cards with new passwords etc.. Title: my money Post by: Bedford Red on Thursday, April 3, 2008, 19:43:50 Yeah, i suppose i should.
It's just the inconvenience, and the stress from it. Last year it took about 3 months to get all the money back from my m & s card which had been used for plane flights, ferry, train etc. I was more worried about someone nicking my identity if they were booking plane flights etc. Title: my money Post by: Chubbs on Thursday, April 3, 2008, 19:44:48 bennett i'll have a work with my cousin, see if he will kindly return it

It's so easy and safe to pinch an identity these days it’s a shocker. Title: my money Post by: Sippo on Friday, April 4, 2008, 07:47:46 The Lebanese loop it was called. You put your card in, put your pin in but nothing happens. You think the card has been swallowed but it hasn't. They now have your card and pin number.
Easy. Title: my money Post by: Bushey Boy on Friday, April 4, 2008, 08:03:58 Says a lot for dealing in cash....

You put your card in, put your pin in but nothing happens. You think the card has been swallowed but it hasn't. They now have your card and pin number. Easy. This scam relies on them seeing you type in your card number, either by attaching a small camera to the top of the ATM or some one looking over your shoulder. Best thing to do is put your hand over the key pad when you type in your pin. Also run your finger along the card slot as the sleeve they use to retain your card will have two prongs that allow them to remove your card when you've gone. Title: my money Post by: Dazzza on Friday, April 4, 2008, 13:18:04 How are you getting hit so badly Bedford is it dodgy online sites or are your cards getting swiped under the counter?

I've just had a long chat over the phone with the security section at MBNA, and she told me as far as she is aware it's not identity theft which is a relief to me. She said they've got a big problem at the moment with fraudsters making thousands and thousands of fake cards with random numbers on and if one of them matches then off they go. And it seems i've been unlucky that way. I only use Amazon/play.com etc and after last year i never let any of my cards out of my site so i've just been very unlucky it seems!
