NMH Title: Swindon Active Service. Post by: Amir on Saturday, March 26, 2005, 17:32:46 They've only been known as SAS for a couple of years. There used to be S.T.A.B., Southsiders, Up and comers etc. etc.
It's like my old man said not long ago, there is always an outlet for violence in society, better it be football than politics. Title: Swindon Active Service. Post by: Amir on Saturday, March 26, 2005, 17:35:56 Oh, and 95% of the time these days it's wearing flash clothes(or stone island jumpers :soapy tit wank: ), acting hard when the police are there, and getting harrassed all day. Sounds like great fun.
Title: Swindon Active Service. Post by: Asher on Saturday, March 26, 2005, 17:39:36 Dont knock it, it can be like a drug once your involved
Title: Swindon Active Service. Post by: sonicyouth on Saturday, March 26, 2005, 17:48:43 yeah because drugs and violence are great, obviously!
Title: Swindon Active Service. Post by: Asher on Saturday, March 26, 2005, 18:51:09 I wasnt saying it like that, I meant you can get addicted to it.
Title: Swindon Active Service. Post by: sonicyouth on Saturday, March 26, 2005, 20:26:27 You can get addicted to pretty much anything. I can understand why people enjoy that sort of thing and get a buzz out of it I just think it's pretty pathetic.

Addicted to getting yourself nicked. Hooliganism is dead. Title: Swindon Active Service. Post by: Nomoreheroes on Sunday, March 27, 2005, 04:32:40 I certainly hope hooliganism is dead. Don't particularly want to subject my kids to all that stupidity.
NMH Title: Swindon Active Service. Post by: yeo on Sunday, March 27, 2005, 05:42:10 Its bullshit, theres a lot worse thing happening out there than a few lads having a ruck at football.Getting 3 months in jail for it is a joke and I feel for the lads involved.
Im afraid the risks are just too high these days.Khans right the hooligan scene will be dead at Swindon for a while but personally I think its on the rise again in football generally. against oxford in the fa cup they obviously weren't any good! oxford fans were kicking the crap outta fans when we were leaving on the coaches! at least do it properly if you are gunna do it! but hooligans are knobs in general! Title: Swindon Active Service. Post by: reeves4england on Sunday, March 27, 2005, 22:05:47 Well said. i think the whole idea of supporting a football team just so you can fight is sad and depressing. Don't these people have better things to do with their lives?!
Title: Swindon Active Service. Post by: Johno on Sunday, March 27, 2005, 22:09:21 No. Man your slower than me!

Title: Swindon Active Service. Post by: The Grim Reaper on Sunday, March 27, 2005, 22:13:29 Funny you should mention that Oxford game. In 15 years of following the Town that was one of only two occasions where I have been involved in any sort of trouble with opposition fans. When we came out the ground and made our way to where we had been dropped off by a local bus a large group of hooligans waded in throwing punches. What alarmed me the most was that it was impossible to tell who was Oxford and who was Swindon with all the plain clothes!

Title: Swindon Active Service. Post by: Asher on Sunday, March 27, 2005, 22:43:52 oh my god get over it, its been part of life for many lads for years, its very rare that innocent people get caught up in it. Each to their own
Title: Swindon Active Service. Post by: The Grim Reaper on Sunday, March 27, 2005, 22:46:09 Quote from: "Whits" where else was there trouble The Grim Reaper? The only other incident I had the misfortune was at Ashton Gate last season coming out the ground. Waiting for my mate who had decided to use the toilet before embarking on the journey home after another defeat, some local meathead decided he was going to throw punchs at Town fans. I happened to be one of them, doing nothing more than waiting for a mate who's gone for a piss (his timing perfect as always). What really pissed me off about this was though was the local bill who didnt seem to give a toss. One of them said to me and my mate (once he was back) 'Are you Swindon?' when we replied yes he ordered us to stand with 'the rest of your lot over there'. Once moved and standing buy a fence we were all told we were being 'walked back to Temple Meads'. After an exchange of words with another less than helpful plod we told them we came by car and would be walking back to where we parked and off we went back through the mob of city wannabee chavs and lapping up their insults! This is why every team needs a few punchers in their following,if your going to get caught up in trouble which is unavoidable at times its helps to have a few nutters with you. Same principal on a night out for me. Must admit I would probably get biatch slapped out at the first sign of trouble but I can see where the satisfaction comes from. A few lads I know love going out at the weekend and don't consider it a proper night unless they come out of it having waved a few fists. Add to that the old tribes of footy, doing something a tad dodgy and the frustration of 9-5 I can see why there is a need to unleash the beast come Saturday. Title: Swindon Active Service.
