That's just the BBC's interpretation of the press release. They know no more than we do.

Maybe so, but the Official Club Statement clearly reads

Quote
the Wills family and Mike Diamandis have managed to attract significant investment to form a New Consortium

so Magic's concern remains valid.

Its a bit like Mike Wilks attracting investment from Bill Power & Phil Emmel in the form of a Consortium, therefore leading one to make an ASSUMPTION that the Wills family and Diamandis are part of this new Consortium.

I guess time will tell. I'm sceptical but will refrain from being openly critical until some meat is put on those bones.

I can't believe the big announcement we all waited, the annoucement that was going  to put all of our worries at bay is

"wait for another 8 weeks  we'll be alright."

Sorry but that is nothing to get excited about.

Disappointed to say the least.

(PS thanks to Barry Scott for text message updates earlier)

I'm trying to remain fairly open minded about the whole thing.

If the consortium is made up of SSW, Diamandis & the new investor then there's not neccesarily the need for worry. For the amount of money they're touting (to clear current debts and take the club forwards) the new investor is going to want a significant say in the day to day running of the club.

So if Diamandis is part of the consortium, it doesn't mean he'll get to call the shots any more.

No offence, but I know who wrote that, and he's certainly not "lazy" in his work. It's very unfair to criticise behind the mask of anonymity, especially when you don't actually know for a fact it's "lazy journalism".

Me too Sam. But its difficult given the history of this current regime.

This sums up my feelings right now.

did you write it then? if so, it was definitely lazy journalism...

whoever wrote it read the same into it as i did. unfortunately they also got this bit wrong:

"The Wills family have two directors on the club's board (Sir Seton and son James)"

No, I did not, but a good friend of mine did. Sonic, mate, you don't know the circumstances of how the story was written. Until you do, I suggest you refrain from making assumptions over the professionalism of someone who is very good at their job.

So are you saying this person has spoken to the club, or has just written the article using the press release?

woah chris, i wasn't serious - not questioning anyone's professionalism or the suchlike.

but the piece does say that both sir seton and his son are on the board of directors, which isn't true - only james is a director.

Given what was said about who's on the board, can you clarify what you mean by this Chris?

I'm well aware of all the legalities of what can/cannot be published, so strikes me as a bit strange.

Not having a dig fella, just curious.

I'm saying that those having a go don't know if/how checks were made.

Sonic - sorry - I didn't mean to be heavy ... I just get arsed off when people have a go at people I'm good friends with. I'm sorry if I came across as a bit of an arse there ...

I work from the basic premise that everything uttered by the Board is at least a distortion of the facts and this seems to be a little beauty.

Lets just call ourselves  a new Consortium, juggle a few names about on the note paper and get Bob to spin some shit.

It'll keep the punters happy for a bit, while Andronikou tries to buy some more time.

Plus ca change plus c'est la meme chose.

   Pathetic.

I can't help but think this is just another time wasting ploy - someone was keeping a count of how many "new investors" they have lined up - I think we're on about 9 since last September.  I doubt this will put the Revenue or the Council off , as it is clearly intended to do.

It's the worst case scenario, short of going out of business.

Diamandis could still be there - as such we can't expect any change in the attitude towards or relationship with the fans, the media, the local residents or SBC - all of which have been treated in an abysmal fashion to the point where no trust exists.

How has Diamandis attracted someone in? Chippenham? thats my main worry.

Whilst I cannot stand the 'mans' attitude to his customers, nor that of his cronies Bob, Andronikou et al, I'd be prepared to put up with them being there so long as they keep the club where it belongs and treat fans with the respect they deserve.

But this whole episode reinforces my view that there is a plan beyond developing a successful football club. Why is the new investors money better than Bill Power's?

Nah....pathetique, in the Tchaikovsky' sense of the word means passionate, not an adjective I'd apply to the Board, with reference to anything other than their sinecures.

The Club released a statement, not an interview.

I don't think we can blame the board for the plane crash.

If that hadn't happened, who knows what might have happened?
