what a brilliant statement!

Swindon Town Football Club would like to reassure supporters that there is no cause for concern. These are not the droids you are looking for.

I think to be fair... if something does materialise, they had the money for a while and wanted to come out looking like heros if this is the case... Rather Spasticated statement though.

It's all started to bore me if i'm honest.
The board are/were unfortunately never going to sell to The Consortium, the one positive is that if there is an investor, as they seem to think, then we have a club to support next season at least.
I just fucking hope taht if they are not going to sell, then the do not fuck up OUR club in the process.

well it could be "the new investor" has somehow appeared from the dark side ready to put money into the club. or it could be that they have renegotiated the CVA. either way it's not good! unless this "investor" wants to takeover

Or.....

There might not be any info to release and they're well and truly fucked.

What exactly should we have been concerned about that we no longer need to be concerned about?

Should I be concerned? What about worried? Is that more appropriate? Or maybe troubled? At what point should I consider being deeply concerned, worried, or troubled?

What I am though is fucking confused. I think... :?

They are problably into the "friday statement" thing and don't want to dissapoint by not saying anything.

I'm sure this investor is going to be a young entrepaner (sp?) that is a fan of stfc and has been for many years and wants to help the club.....move to Chippenham

Right,

I've had enough, i've been reading this website for many weeks now just to gauge the reaction of town fans to the goings on at the club in the last month or so. However, mr 'entrepaner' has snapped me out of my neutral ambience.

I am sick of this knee jerk reaction that town fans have to any statement published by the incumbent board. As soon as the board publish a statement people are quick to jump to cynicism, and take any opportunity to lay one into the board. Don't get me wrong, i'm not a fan of the board  but I do believe we should all be objective in our conjectures on these people.

I've seen many people making statements such as: where has the parkin money gone? wise compensation? lukas fee? etc etc. Well, to make any rational comment surely we would need to see the accounts first? surely that should be the only demand to place on the board? My guess is we have been accruing debts ever since the CVA was originally settled, hence we may not necessarily be able to use the money from the lukas transfer to pay the cva, it may be needed to pay current debts, not past.

Sturrock is an intelligent chap, if he wasn't he wouldnt have had so much success in management. He understands how the club ticks, and since hes come in I haven't felt better as a town fan. Listening to 'we are sturrocks red and white army' going back and forth across the County Ground took me back to the days of Hoddle and Shearer, it brought  a tear to my eye. I'm very confident that this will continue, Sturrock is building for the future, on what he perceives to be a strong foundation, and im inclined to believe him.

Mr 'entrepaner' and others, do not be so quick to dismiss what the board have to say. Take it at face value, consider it, think about it, dont jump to conclusions.

Oh, and let me know how you got on in your GCSEs.

Let me guess, you got two A stars in English?

how many statements about new investment have we seen in the last twelve months? how many times has new investment actually emerged?

i've tried to be as open minded as anyone but the board have said so much and produced so little that it's barely worth giving any creedence to what they say anymore. six months ago i'd have given them the benefit of the doubt, over the last month or two that has all but disappeared for me. talk is cheap when it comes to this lot.

Quote from: "STFCere"

i'd suggest that those are perfectly rational and sensible questions; as are any regarding up-to-date accounts. in the absence of such accounts, it is perfectly fair to question why our board are unable to afford a £900,000 payment - by their own admission - but have seen significant unbudgeted income put into the club by first bill power then through transfer fees.

the CVA is not settled but this should be their priority. however, judging by the attitude of both the board and the CVA supervisor, they're not particularly concerned about this. furthermore, the CVA is the current debt and the pressing concern at this moment in time. if we do not pay the bullet payment of £900k then it would result in the failure of the CVA with serious consequences. equally, in the unlikely event the CVA is renegotiated then we could receive a ten point deduction before the start of the season, potentially condemning us to another relegation.

Quote from: "STFCere"

all of which will be entirely irrelevent if the club fails to pay the CVA or are unable to renegotiate it. with all the will in the world, sturrock might be the greatest manager on earth but i sincerely doubt he is entirely aware of the situation at the club, nor the recent history.

Quote from: "STFCere"
Mr 'entrepaner' and others, do not be so quick to dismiss what the board have to say. Take it at face value, consider it, think about it, dont jump to conclusions.

if you take today's statement at face value it is totally meaningless. to consider and think about it would be to not take it at face value either, so i'm not sure where you're going with this.

i'd go back through some recent statements to highlight the inaccuracies, the misleading information, the mistruths and the 'mystery investors' but since the new website was launched, all of the past statements have presumably disappeared into thin air.

Quote from: "STFCere"

the oxford english dictionary defines a shareholder as 'an owner of shares in a company'...so your point is redundant.

you're not interested in debate, you admitted it yourself. furthermroe, you seem more interested in debating the semantics of a single term than discussing the issues i responded to in your original post.

I reckon the statement is that blase that they've got something in the bag with regards to money coming in. I won't go so far as to say investment, because any money coming into a club like ours will have conditions we wouldn't see as ideal - and i doubt it'll fund tranfers and general development - more it'll keep us ticking over until the next deadline. But I'm fairly confident, going on their tone, that they've got something. Its that simple statement, its almost as if they all pissed off to the pub leaving the work experience kid to sort the statement out.

I expect some minimal, undisclosed 'investment' from a Diamandis-connected nobody, with a property connection perhaps, proclaiming he's the saviour and how we have Premiership potential inside 3 weeks.

I fear a Chippenham move inside 3 years.

Just got back from work and that's one fucking ace statement. The board never fail to disappoint.

It seems a bit clear that they are just setting themselves for a I told you so. I'm guessing re-jigging debts from other related companies, or maybe (less likely) Sir Seton finding some more property to re-mortgage.

None of which fills me with a lot of hope for the mid-short term future of the football club.

What a load of old toss, eh? I've just got in after a night on the spangle - got all the way to the Rose Bowl, only to find out the game was off - had a chat with Michael Lumb, got pissed, and hoped for some good news when I got home.

Instead I got that shitty statement.

And apparently because we all think it's shit we're all stupid.

I don't know what a lot of you really expected to hear from the board on the Friday statement.

The majority of fans on here are Trust/Consortium supporters, you have all clearly shown how pissed off you are, but the bottom line is simple, The Consortium have lost the war.

Whatever get out of jail option the current board have taken will almost certainly not be the best option for the long-term future of this club it will just keep us afloat for another season, it will be the only option left to the current board of directors and advisers to obtain the highest return on their money from relocation and development of a new ground.

Assuming they have managed to sort anything out (and that's still a very big assumption) I think you're probably right about much of that dell other than two key points:

1) It's more likely to keep us afloat till Christmas at best - short-term bridging loan that temporarily keeps the wolf from the door but makes the ongoing situation worse

2) The chances of the current board being able to secure a deal with SBC for redevelopment are somewhat akin to me being chosen as a model for Vidal Sassoon. They're hanging on for something they've already torpedoed any realistic chance of happening some years ago.

So even if they have managed to secure some sort of short-term bridging loan, this will have a while to run yet.

Can we just have a commitment from whoever ends up owning the club that they will continue with the Friday Statement, its fucking ace and makes my weekend!

Personally I think they have got some cash sorted and we will survive, that is the positive, the negative is that you could give these tossers £100m and they still would fuck it up!

If they do manage to get a loan sorted, then we have to remember it will end-up leaving the business in more debt (include the interest).

Regardless of any income, even the Board have been sensible enough to admit they have no long term strategy other than developing a ground.  Seems highly unlikely they'll get anything like what they need at the CG.

STFCere - well structured your post was, but bollocks I'm afraid.  You are essentially saying we should respect the Board's efforts and judge them decision by decision, or statement by statement. Unfortunately you need to earn respect, and they;ve managed to do the complete opposite.  They actually got 4 years of very little questioning and loads of accepting their efforts at face value.  It is by their own actions that they now have lost that respect and people now want them gone regardless of whatever they may do.  Redemption would probably involve a 5 year period to balance off the previous one, one where they manage to run the business professionally, manage to produce timely financial reports, manage to work in tandem with the "stakeholders", manage to get costs under control, manage to pay debts on time, manage to bring in outward investment and then keep it etc.

They are being judged by 5 years of incompetence (at best), 5 years of blatant mismanagement (at worst), not by a few statements sent out in the past few weeks.

It's too late.  The club will suffer with them here, even if they bring off a financial miracle, simply because you cannot have a club running well when so many are so angry.

the consortium haven't lost the war at all. the key factor in the takeover is not the CVA, it's the £1.2million loan that BP wants back.

that can be paid in cash, or football club.

 :goodpost:

Some people don't seem to realise exactly what you are saying Rob - most people are reasonable and patient and can understand the difficulties of running a football club in the lower leagues.

However, a lot of people, myself included, have been ground down by the incompetence, mismanagement, lies and lack of respect that the current ** enter your choice of expletive here ** (my personal preference is  :wanker:  :wanker: ) have shown to the fan base over the last five years.

I think that some people think that we are picking up on only the latest couple of statements and having a moan when in reality, they have slowly knocked the stuffing out of any goodwill that we may have had during the past five years.

To BE respected, you have to EARN respect, not ride roughshod over your Customers.

I don't think any fan can still be supporting the Board.

It's just that a lot of supporters (Myself included) feel that it's out of our control.

I corresponded with Ben Lambert and voiced my concerns and he replied, with the usual "Don't worry, everything's cushty!" line, which he may well believe.

Fair play to all of you who are actively engaged in ousting the board, but for the majority of us (I think!) we're helpless.

The Board know that the vast majority of suporters think they're fucking useless at best, corrupt at worst, but they're still here.

Protests didn't work, Orange didn't work, what next?

My first loyalty is to STFC, I would rather have these cunts in charge than have no club to support at all and they know that a lot of people feel the same way.

I couldn't boycott matches, I understand those that can, but I just couldn't do it.

What else can we do?

Can't diagree with what you are saying, & that would've been my exact sentiment until 9 months ago.
The only thing I will pick up on is the statement

"My first loyalty is to STFC, I would rather have these cunts in charge than have no club to support at all and they know that a lot of people feel the same way."

Unfortunately, the way I see it is that they will kill this club for us........ Diamandis has already said that he will do that rather than go...
Leaving them in charge will leave us with no club in the medium to long term.

So why am I so sure of this.......

In the last 5 years under their mis- management the financial situation has got much worse.
If they continue mis-managing in the next 5 years as they have in the last 5 we will be in an even worse state.
I believe that we have already reached the point where the style of management is unsustainable.
The club has recently seen, unbudgetted income of well in excess of £3,000,000, yet still have reported losses of approaching a million per yr. These are exacerbated by "Admin expenses" of 1.5 million, & interest charges of 300k.
So next year, with out any additional unbudgetted income, it is a good bet that the losses will exceed £3,000,000 PLUS they need 900k for the CVA PLUS £1,200,000 to repay the money they owe Bill P.
Hence any new "Investment" will swallow up £5,000,000 in year one with NO CHANGE. This time next year we will be back to where we belong, BUT OWING MORE MONEY, AND PAYING MORE INTEREST.
The ONLY solution is a full TAKEOVER, and overhaul of the club, backed by an eventual ground redevelopment. This as has been pointed out is NOT going to happen with the current board as they have now destroyed all of any goodwill they had.

It's The London Gazette, the official record of these matters.

STFC's winding up petition will appear here:

http://www.gazettes-online.co.uk/categoryView.asp?webType=0&categoryId=311&categoryTitle=GC24

Under the heading "Petitions to Wind-up (Companies)", i.e.

http://www.gazettes-online.co.uk/Notices.asp?webType=0&CategoryId=GC2450

If it gets to that dark day and the judge nods then STFC will appear under the section titled "Winding-up Order".

Truly scary stuff.

It is not possible to have an alternative opinion on this site unless of course you are a follower of The Trust/Consortium views and toe-the-line, especially with posters like yoruself Red Macca.
In the few weeks I have been visiting on here I have received many hostial posts, but does it bother me, well the answer is no.

In respect of those who have strong opinions of Swindon Town FC and the way they see the future of Swindon Town, I will refrain from posting on here in the future, you will however see me looking in now and again and reading the posts, which are without doubt the most informative of any Swindon Town site.

I have never tried resorting in belittling or insulting others on here or any other site, but I will fight my corner if others wants to have a pop, and this seems to be the problem with Trust/Consortium supporters in the majority, they think they can shout any opponent down who has any alternative views, this has been The Trust/Consortiums downfall from the start and why they have not received total support from the majority of Swindon fans

Back a bunch of shysters who routinely lie to shareholders, supporters & the local community.
Rip off the only person to invest in them.
Who are at best guilty of gross financial mis management, & are taking the club down the road to oblivion ?
Why would ANYBODY support them.

Which bit do you like best exactly of the splendid job the board are doing?

Is it the repeatedly misleading fans and shareholders at successive AGMs/ Fans Forums?
Is it the continued and repeated failure to secure a ground redevelopment?
Maybe it's the ongoing total failure to run the club properly in any way?
Perhaps having the auditors register an almost unheard of adverse opinion in the accounts (which basically means their own auditors are saying the accounts are not to be relied on as they are not true) is what has gained your admiration?
Or perhaps it's getting us relegated to the basement through slashing the budget to 27p and shiny button then implying we should all be grateful when we scrape our way back up on the back of a £1.2m investment from a man they've been slagging off ever since he had a plane crash that could have killed him?
I know it must be the expert "financial engineering" that has got us into the position where despite five years' notice we have today passed the deadline for the CVA bullet payment that could close the club without paying it?
Or are just an S&M enthusiast who enjoys being treated like dirt?
