i thought Nico and Pook had until last friday to sign?

why don't our board/PS stick by there guns and tell them to sign or fook off.

there not exactly our strongest players so doubt we'll miss them.
especially Pook

I think negotiations only began on Monday, the adver bigged it up as d-day but it seems neither party has quite the urgency.

That is what was said, then it was claimed they were going back in to see Smarmy Starnes on Monday and finalise and sign their new contracts!!  Smarmy is now on holiday (allegedly!) so that may be the hold-up, unless they are going to allow dear old Sandy to negotiate (what VAT!!!).  The guy from Swansea is on honeymoon apparently so I guess nothing will happen there until he is back.  He has two other offers to consider if he has nothing better to do!!

Why is the chief exec going on holiday in the week the CVA is due and when we allegedly have 2 groups interested in taking the club over.

Enjoy Butlins

as he's the only one that speak anything near sense, they probably sent him away on holiday to avoid sensible media relations and valuable information from filtering through to the fans.

I see the weathermen are saying there's going to be 50mm of rain over some parts of the country on Saturday. I hear they're predicting a whole shower of shit over SN1.

I've not been a fan of Akinfenwa's - but, he coming to Town so therefore I will welcome him and hope he does the business with us.

However, he's only signing for a year... If he does have a cracking season are we going to be able to keep him!?!

Title: Thought Akinfenwa...
Post by: magicroundabout on Friday, June 29, 2007, 16:42:13
i would guess the 1 year deal is to protect ourselves because of his broken leg suffered last season.

if he plays x amount of games i guess his contract will extend automatically?!

or something like that

No, well that is to say I don't think so, but he's gone out and issued 2 and 3 year contracts elsewhere, just makes me wonder if he has some prior knowledge from elsewhere regarding strikers contracts.

Good signing alot of pace and power we have a good blend of strikers with Corr, him and Sturrock all having very different qualities.  Add a prolific striker as well and we will be in good shape for next year.

Title: Thought Akinfenwa...
Post by: reeves4england on Friday, June 29, 2007, 17:47:43
I'm not convinced he's good enough to score the goals we need to be honest. Of course, I will give him a chance to prove me wrong.

Would be nice to see a goalscorer come in aswell though

Just the easy role to fill then

Sounds like the big man will be awkward and adds something to or attack.  My Dad really liked hime for Torquay a few years back, and I usually trust his judgement so I'm modestly happy with him.  If Sturrock thinks he's good enough then thats good for me - and not a ex-Sturrock player for a change.

Tall bloke in Corr, Battering ram in Akinfenwa - sturrock likes to get balls into the box so could prove a good partnership, and then as everyone has mentioned, jst the proven scorer to come, job done - promotion thankyou very much, see you in the Championship. :soapy tit wank:

Will not be fit for start of the season:

Well no, but Sturrock Jnr is bound to sign, we have Roberts and Peacock who can both fill in, we still have Caton and I presume Sturrock is still looking for a goalscorer.

not time to press the panic button yet KT  :D

Panic button?  I've no doubt Sturrock will find a fit and able striker for the start of the season.

I'm more worried that I won't get to see much of them if they're all out at the start and I bugger back off to France before we get going. :|

His weight and height are spot on - the lads a f@cking tank? Anyone recall the damage him and Constantine did to us at Plainmoor a couple of years back? His four solo runs - from the halfway line - through our entire team and the narrow misses that followed?! If he's brushed-up on his finishing, this is one hell of a signing.  8)
