:( RIP that man.

Seriously though, losing a foot would be worth keeping your life.

Surely he'd have bled to death if it'd been done under water?  I can imagine amputations aren't easy at the best of times, without having to do it under a torrent of muddy water!

I remember on 999 program ages ago a man buried himself in the sand on a beach (you know as kids/parents do having fun) and the tide came in and he got stuck.  The rescue team managed to provide him with snorkel and breathing apparatus so he could breath whilst his head was underwater and he eventually got rescused and survived.  Why couldn't they have done this in this situation?

Swollowing mouthfuls of his neighbours poo and bleachy toilet water for a few hours probably put pay to the snorkel idea.

Says he passed out, probably tiredness and hypothermia.

An idea which might have saved his life..........Just basing it on previous other ideas.

He died from being in freezing cold water for 3 hours, he didn't drown.
