He's 29, probably got another four years in him. 16-20 million isn't too bad. But Arsenal seem to be going for a young team, one for the future.

I thought the opposite. £16 million for a striker past his best, just missed most of last season with injury, fails to really perform in the big matches and may have an unsettling influence on the team is great business for arsenal. With that money Wenger can easily buy 2-3 top class strikers.

Missed most of last season fair enough.

Fails to really perform on the big matches, did I imagine him scoring a hat trick against Inter Milan and Roma in the Champions League. did I imagine in playing in a team that went a whole season undefeated.

He's still only 29 - bad move by Arsenal - wont even finish top 4 this season.

Henry doesnt perform in big games, yeah right......so he hasnt scored goals - that doesnt mean he doesnt perform does it.

Again, did I imagine him taking apart both Inter Milan and Roma in the Champions League by scoring hat tricks or werent those games big enough?

Not to mention his contributions to Arsenals league and cup success, or France winning a back to back World Cup and European Championship combo.

Although he didnt score, his performance for 10 man Arsenal in the Champions League final was hardly shoddy was it.

I admire Spurs quest for a youthful English side, but I still hate their assumption they are some footballing purist gods sent to planet earth to play the 'spurs way'. IMHO it is good to haev a strong Arsenal side to keep Man utd and Chelsea in check. Personally disappointed to see Henry go, as a football fan, cos he was great box office for the prem, no Arsenal fan though, I'm sure they'll get over it. i think henry was a better player than bergkamp. not as talented technically but far more important to them.
