As Fred keeps saying, if there's a valid rescue package on the table it WON'T go under. Title: Council leader hits out at club Post by: STFC_Gazzza on Friday, June 22, 2007, 07:13:12 as long as this board is in charge then its bye bye to any ground redevelopment, they have burned those bridges. Also I cant see the council extending the lease at the CG anyway.

Either way, it's very clear the current club management has quite badly shot itself in the foot here. Looks like a united front is developing in opposition to the current board. The fans, the club's landlord. Sooner or later the penny has to drop. Title: Council leader hits out at club Post by: fatbury on Friday, June 22, 2007, 07:48:09 is this the end .... oh i bloody hope so .. please let my dream come true!!
Title: Council leader hits out at club Post by: magic8ball on Friday, June 22, 2007, 08:05:45 I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that the board have been lying again, this time stating that they've been chatting away with the council about the CVA, when they clearly haven't. How can they continue like this? They are so fucking clearly in a very deep hole, but they continue to dig and dig themselves deeper.
My only hope is that this all comes to a head, the board are booted out, and the Courts, or whoever, hand power over to anybody who can bye the club and clear the existing debts, i.e. Bill Power. Then, hopefully, STFC can begin a new relationship with SBC, and ground redevelopment plans can start again. Still no more action on the 'mystery investor' front. I must admit, I did think that even our board wouldn't be so transparent as to make something like that up, but it would appear that they are. This could all so easily be sorted out. But the stubborn fuckers in the board room are dragging it out, making it so hard for the fans, and everyone else involved. What they are doing can only affect the club in a detrimental way. Just hang in there Bill, and Phil, please. The end is nigh. Title: Council leader hits out at club Post by: chalkies_shorts on Friday, June 22, 2007, 08:12:15 Oh dear, oh dear - maybe Rod Bluh was Bowden's imaginary friend just like all his critics admiring him - that could only have been in his head - justl ike the plans for the CG are in his head. That wouldn't leave much room for a brain would it, Mr Corporate Lawyer.
If you think about it the club keep saying the bullet payment is dependent on redevelopment. Again, if you use their own logic then this would have to be their main priority so who do they put in charge - Walter Mitty Bowden. Title: Council leader hits out at club Post by: Batch on Friday, June 22, 2007, 08:19:31 I see what you mean about Bluh and Martin reading fro the same page now Talk Talk.
oooops. I guess Bluh didn't say he wouldn't renegotiate, just that they haven't even asked with a week to go.....It's the onl positive I can see and that is stretching it. Title: Council leader hits out at club Post by: Ardiles on Friday, June 22, 2007, 08:24:17 Fortunately (and I'm trying to be positive here), the situation has improved in one key respect over the last weeks & months...and that is that the local media is now covering this properly and holding the board to account. Unless there is significant movement today, I would hope that the Adver, in particular, will run with a Doomsday-style headline this weekend. This would really help.
Title: Council leader hits out at club Post by: RobertT on Friday, June 22, 2007, 08:49:13 A full and frank assessment of their time in charge starting on the front page wouldn't go amiss. Then a section for each key "player" that has got us to where we are (this will allow for a bit of detail on the other candidates for our continued failure over the years and so make it look less like a character assasination).

Title: Council leader hits out at club Post by: Samdy Gray on Friday, June 22, 2007, 15:08:11 Here you go Coxy:
SWINDON Borough Council leader Rod Bluh has rubbished suggestions by Swindon Town that the club have sought to re-open negotiations over the deadline for the CVA payment. Under the terms of the CVA (Company Voluntary Agreement), Town owe £900,000 to their remaining creditors by June 30 but, in a statement yesterday, claimed to have discussed a possible extension with the council's finance department about the money owed to the authority. However, Coun Bluh has backed colleague Nick Martin, lead member for finance and resources, who earlier this week insisted no attempt had been made to vary the schedule of the CVA. Bluh told the Swindon Advertiser: "If Swindon want to re-negotiate then that's fine, but they have to discuss the matter with the parties and the creditors involved. "We've heard lots of statements in public about extending the deadline, but nothing has been discussed in private. "To alter the terms of the CVA there would have to be a creditors meeting and I'm not aware of any of these meetings taking place. "The football club has been aware of the June 30 deadline for a considerable time now, since August 2002. advertisement "We are a week away from that and I know of no serious attempt to contact the council with regards to renegotiation." In a statement released yesterday, Town officials claimed payment of the CVA assumed a "successful redevelopment of the County Ground " - a notion dismissed by Bluh. "I'm not aware of any links between the terms of the CVA and the sports ground development," he added. "Lots of meetings have occurred with regards to the redevelopment of the ground. "Our position is quite clear. The County Ground development is open to discussion at any time." Coun Bluh is also unhappy at Town's suggestion the council "must have a degree of empathy" with the club, having been categorised as a "failing authority" in the past. He said: "I see that as a cheap comment. Swindon Town are a private company and they have to pay their way. They are liable to the creditors. "We are a public body and as such we have a duty to the tax payers of Swindon. The fact that club even have a CVA was partly thanks to our help five years ago. "I would find any attempt to try to deflect anything onto the council extremely disappointing because that would not be borne out by the facts.'' Yesterday's club statement attacked the "negative'' and "not helpful'' comments of Martin (right). But Bluh fully backed his fellow council member. He added: "We are taking a hard line on this and we think we have every justification to do so." "We are not looking for a confrontation with the football club. "We want to engage in positive conversation. "We are not trying to make things difficult, but there are processes and procedures we must follow." 7:49am today Title: Council leader hits out at club Post by: Fred Elliot on Friday, June 22, 2007, 15:08:24 Oh bollox

Out of interest Paul, what are your thoughts on Bluh's statement? Title: Council leader hits out at club Post by: pauld on Friday, June 22, 2007, 16:45:41 Quote from: "coxernator" Out of interest Paul, what are your thoughts on Bluh's statement? Remarkably restrained under the circumstances, while also managing to pull no punches. I think he's made his and the council's position very clear and if anyone had fallen for the "Nasty Nick's a horrid but don't worry cos Rod's our mate and he'll see us right" line of yesterday, they will presumably have been set right by what he had to say. |
