Title: Lee Holmes Post by: Samdy Gray on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, 07:53:19 I would absolutely fucking love it if he did.
The kid was amazing a couple of seasons ago. Title: Lee Holmes Post by: Sippo on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, 07:55:38 All depends if Nicho goes i guess? Booby to Left back?
Title: Lee Holmes Post by: Frigby Daser on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, 08:19:49 rumour that started on thisis - copied into the Adver - would be superb if there's any truth in it, but I can't see it
Title: Lee Holmes Post by: Tails on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, 08:30:34 I doubt it.
Title: Lee Holmes Post by: Richard4acre on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, 08:41:12 Lee Holmes = The most enthusiastic step over EVER! :D
Title: Lee Holmes Post by: The_Plagiarist on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, 08:50:59 Lee Holmes was fucking brilliant. To the extent that me and my mates arranged to all chip in to a bet that he'd play for England before his 20th birthday. Alas we couldn't find a bookie that'd take the bet, presumably after they'd been stung by a similar bet involving Chris Kirkland. As it was, we were wrong anyway, but he's still fucking great, alright?
TRUE STORY. Title: Lee Holmes Post by: Frigby Daser on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, 09:00:47 He's not 20 yet is he? - a few appearances in a Town shirt will set him sell on his way
Title: Lee Holmes Post by: Rich Pullen on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, 09:03:29 Firstly, I cannot believe he signed for us in December 2004, time flies.
I fully expect this rumour to be a load of rubbish however, with Derby County in the Premiership and the fact that Holmes appears to have made no major progress - the sort of progress that would see him join a better team, his spell at Bradford was hardly spectatular - then you never know what will happen. Would like to see if he's still got that great potential he had during 04/05... Not against us though! Title: Lee Holmes Post by: stfc11 on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, 09:22:08 Would be great if he came back!! Although it's probably just a rumour :(
Title: Lee Holmes Post by: RobertT on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, 10:12:20 He's hardly porgressed it seems though, maybe he just had a glimmer of potential and it was more that our team was not that great! Could be intersesting because I'm not exactly sure he's a Sturrock type of player, but who knows.
Title: Lee Holmes Post by: Frigby Daser on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, 10:21:31 I'd have thought he's right up Sturrock's street, out-and-out winger who can actually cross and has pace.
Title: Lee Holmes Post by: tans on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, 10:22:37 do you think derby would be willing to let him go though? definitely take him if we could i say
Title: Lee Holmes Post by: Ralphy on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, 10:30:29 More likely to sign Lee Evans.
Title: Lee Holmes Post by: RobertT on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, 10:38:05 Rumour is that Holmes may be released by Derby, not just loaned out. Either way, they had no issues loaning him out to Relegation fodder Bradford last season.

It would be great to see him back because he had a spark that few other players at the time possessed in our team. I'm sure if somebody got the best out of him he could do well at this level.Having said that, it is probably bollocks! Title: Lee Holmes Post by: Arriba on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, 11:21:06 a one trick pony, but would be great to get him back here

Title: Lee Holmes Post by: Jamiesfuturewife on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, 13:50:51 Didnt he win young player of the season that year even though he was only here on loan?

Title: Lee Holmes Post by: Power to people on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, 15:06:24 He would be a fantastic signing and the left side of midfield would be really strong and the competition would be great.
If he hasn't progressed then perhaps he has gone a bit stale at Derby and needs a new challenge, when he was here he showed his potential so maybe he needs that extra bit of coaching. Maybe if we all wish hard enough if might happen and we can have something to cheer about at long last. Title: Lee Holmes Post by: kaufman on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, 18:55:10 the thing i remember most is him literally standing on the touch line waiting for the ball, running at the full back and 9/10 getting a cross in or getting a corner.
I also remember grant smith about to cross the ball and holmes ran in front and crossed the ball, smith took a swipe at the same time and missed and starting shouting at holmes while parkin popped up and scored from the cross. smith just shook his head and laughed and celebrated with holmes. Title: Lee Holmes Post by: Sussex on Tuesday, June 26, 2007, 11:07:03 Make of this what you will..
From todays WDP: Quote HOLMES IS THE SWINDON TARGET EXCLUSIVE BY JAMES MCNAMARA 08:00 - 26 June 2007 Swindon Town boss Paul Sturrock is aiming to bring former loan star Lee Holmes back to the County Ground.Holmes, 20, became a firm fans' favourite during a temporary spell in Wiltshire in 2005 and the Daily Press understands that Sturrock is keen to bring the wideman back for another loan spell. Swindon officials are understood to have approached the Rams to register their interest and Pride Park boss Billy Davies is unlikely to stand in Holmes' way after allowing him to join Bradford on loan last season. The move is at an early stage, though, and further talks have not yet been arranged as Holmes is away on holiday and not due to return until the weekend. Holmes, who has a year of his contract left to run, was handed his professional debut as a 15-year-old by former Derby manager George Burley before his successful stint with Swindon when Andy King was at the helm. The winger, who can operate on either flank, was a regular under Burley's successor Phil Brown, but has yet to feature under Davies. Following his three-month loan spell at Valley Parade last season, Holmes returned to Pride Park nursing an ankle injury that kept him out for the remainder of the campaign. Title: Lee Holmes Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Tuesday, June 26, 2007, 11:14:54 I saw on another forum that a Derby fan reckons Holmes will be coming to Swindon. He reckons he's not good enough to play in the top two divisions.
Which is fine seeing as how we're not in the top two divisions. I think he would be a damned fine signing. A proper old school out and out winger. 8) Title: Lee Holmes Post by: janaage on Tuesday, June 26, 2007, 11:24:56 Quote from: "OOH! That's some nice quality if we get him - especially with the prospect of Akinfenwa too, it would actually have me thinking there was goals in the team. Title: Lee Holmes Post by: OOH! Title: Lee Holmes Post by: janaage on Tuesday, June 26, 2007, 11:33:13 I didn't want to mention Afinfenwa in case we don't sign him, but that is what I was thinking Matt.
OST I can't believe you'd slate our last international player like that. I'll never forget Ricky flying down the wing, with his ability to erm, err.... Title: Lee Holmes Post by: sonic youth on Tuesday, June 26, 2007, 11:36:46 put the ball over the stand?
