Ah, but there are old people and old people!!  You are obviously unlucky in that you have the latter!!  We have an older couple (both late eighties) living opposite us and he just cracks me up, almost as sharp witted as Mr Elliott.  Neither are enjoying the best of health at the moment, fiercely independent yet always up for a laugh and a joke!

When I bought teh place I was really hoping for a old boy that I could brew beer with etc do his garden and have a surrogate grand dad.

I got two women who discuss my lawn and trees and try and get me to do work on their places.
