god i hope youre wrong

Im just thinking about the times when Rovers will be on a home game at ours and we are on a short trip away ... say Cheltenham ... and we arrive back in the coach park at the County Ground

the whole thing is madness ...

The worst scenario here would be if they do come and they end up giving up on the County Ground and going to Whaddon Road because of any trouble. Can you imagine the impact that would have on any redevelopment?!?!!?

Can't one of the guys with admin rights check the IP the posts came from? Would sort out any fears over who is who.

If God forbid this does go ahead, anyone else think as fans we should try and make the most of it....namely try and get some links going with the decent Rovers fans, as opposed to leaving the field to the knuckledraggers?

 Not sure what, mind.

You mean like asking them only to rip out the nasty old seats in the Arkells stand instead of the newer red ones?

I can't wait til we're the away team at the CG, that'll be class!!!

I wonder how much rovers will charge the away fans?????

Not that I'm pro the ground share.

That very point was raised at the Trust AGM. Obviously the chap that got his arm broken wasn't so keen, and who can blame him.

If it happens then I say yes, but at the end of the day our paths with the decent Rovers fans won't cross much. They'll be at the CG, we'll be elsewhere and vice versa. Not sure I can be arsed to make a special effort.

It just hasnt been thought out.

What happens to:

1)Our cars when we have an away trip and they are at home, where are we supposed to park

2) Winners lounge on matchdays- are they gonna be allowed that. The supporters club have just payed a lot of money to revamp it with memorabillia- can you see STFC memoirs remining intact?

3) What happens at the county ground hotel?

4) Local residents are dead against this move you can safely wave goodbye to ever getting a CG development, which is what makes me think the board have already decided on out of town

I'm completely against it.

I heard that we would make £100k out of this.. difficult to see how that figure would end up being profit if you think about potential damage to property, police bills, wear and tear to the pitch / ground etc..

Could be one of the worst decisions ever made by an STFC board, and let's face it that's saying something..

I still dont think it will happen. The police wont letter it, the council wont let it, the fans dont want it, the local residents dont want it, Sturrock wont want it as it will fuck up the pitch, its just more trouble than its worth. I dont think the club will have the final say, even if they agree (or already have agreed) to it I cant see it happening. I will be very very suprised if it happens.

I suspect that stfc will probably be paid something like 100k and Rovers will have to pick up policing costs, damage costs as potentially it will be happening when rovers are playing "at home"

This has been public knowledge for a few months now.The council and the police would have voiced concerns if they had any when this was first announced

Yeah Rovers will have to pay police bills fair enough, but I'm sure we'll end up spending more on the ground upkeep and wear and tear to the pitch..

Can also see Rovers simply refusing to pay for petty damage, for example STFC paraphernalia getting trashed in the winners lounge, "BRFC" scratched into toilet doors, smashed windows that kind of thing..
Even stuff like electricity bills could end up being disputed..

The whole thing's a nightmare in my view.

At no point have they agreed to it either yet though. I suppose only time shall tell now. Would be nice to have a press release from our board with regards to the current situation and results of the research they have done eg asking local residents and what the police think about the idea.

I was in Bristol yesterday and all of the local stations were carrying tis story.

They had an interview with Rovers Chief Exec or was it Chairman??  Anyway, he said that they only had to dot a couple of i's and cross a few t's and it would all be sorted.

Announcement definately by end of week.

What's the odds it being like the Fans Forum, with tickets issued, and the board will mostly give the tickets to their lackeys, to make it look like they've got support for the groundshare.

Anyway...why now ?

The possibility of a groundshare has been in the offing for a few months, yet they leave it to the last minute to 'discuss' it with the relevant parties.

And that's why Lee Peacock is so popular (although not currently with those who pay his wages), he says the right things at the right time:

Spot on Lee.

And well done Andy Cryer for getting this on the back page.

So now it's not just the fans, residents and councillors who oppose the ground share, it's also the player(s?) for pitch damage and trouble reasons.

I bet the board squirm when they read that.

Mr Cryer is getting better and better.

Well done to the Cock!!

Its nice to see the manager and now one of the players starting to criticise the board.

Bet there is a club statement about Peacock later today - denying that he is against the groundshare ..

Peacock is a legend. Fair play to him for speaking up.

The advers new man seems to be changing things. For once the adver isnt licking the clubs arse and actually putting the fans views accross too. Well done!!

Title: Rovers: Decision this week
Post by: Ardiles on Thursday, May 31, 2007, 10:47:27
At last!!  The Adver is getting off the fence and we're getting some decent journalism...that doesn't simply involve printing what the club tell them to print.

And respect to Peacock as well.  I think he realises he's on firmer footing than the board, so can say it like he wants.

Title: Rovers: Decision this week
Post by: Ralphy on Thursday, May 31, 2007, 12:12:10
Peacock will get a bollocking for that knowing this board.

He's a legend.

When the fuck do we know about this groundshare anyway? It's becoming more boring than Murder She Wrote.

Post by: Frigby Daser on Thursday, May 31, 2007, 12:18:27
You can picture him picking up a paper in the shop..."Shiiiit...thank f*ck I've already got a contract sorted for next year!"

Spot on though - thats what every club's player of the season should be doing.

I think the Adver should phone up Fjortoft for his damning indictment of the groundshare.

I also see there was a comment on page 2 from Kevin Leakey that his group are against the groundshare and that he has not met anyone from the area in favour of it.

What's happened to the 80%, Sandy ?

He heat is definately on the board.....
