Good old English, when we're losing smash things up, throw things and kick shit in to people. Throwing flares

Its one thing having a scrap with another firm who want it but when its innocent fans like that getting hurt its just silly. Scouse cunts.

Mugging and robbing each other for tickets FFS.

I think Liverpool fans are the best on the planet. What sort of self respecting fan wouldnt throw any flares they had to hand at a bunch of eye-ties who's just scored a 2nd goal in the european cup final?

It's amazing that when Liverpool get to any final, forged tickets are very quickly produced, and fans buy them.

The security at Athens was shocking, when a group of fans can jump over security fences to get into the ground. Absolute joke.

Based on what though? if it was atmosphere I would be more inclined to say Portsmouth they get behind there team from start to finish singing throughout games.  Will never forget that game when they got murdered by Arsenal and all you could hear is Portsmouth fans singing they even gave Henry a standing ovation when he come off.

Yep Pompey fans are pretty good IMHO.  Geordies used to be loud but they've gone all soft since the Prem came into being and they got in.  Not sure if they still do, but they used to have the highest proportion of people in the clubs Town/City who owned the clubs shirt.

Any Carlisle or Torquay fans that travel to away games should get a mention

Yes probably a fair comment but must say they have impressed me as fans that don't get on there teams back when there losing, tend to stay with them throughout the game.

It annoys me when people say Sunderland and Newcastle fans are great because as we have seen in the last couple of years when there doing poorly the grounds end up having plenty of empty seats.

St James' Park at 36,000 was withour doubt the best for atmosphere in England, now it has gone to 52,000 pretty poor to be honest.
Away from home superb and very hard to get a ticket for, even though the team is shite

Every Club has a small percentage of scumbags following them, it makes sense that the larger the club, the more twats they attract.

It's not an English problem, you only have to see reports from Holland, Italy, Germany, etc, etc.

The focus on English Clubs in general, and Liverpool in particular, is bollocks.

The notion of 'best fans' is pretty speculative - loudest maybe, but quantify best - being a prem fan is pretty easy, ticket prices aside, what makes a Liverpool fan any better than a torquay fan, except that they are in greater numbers.  I agree that of the big 4 Liverpool fans seem to generate the best atmosphere for home matches.  My mate a villa fan says Birmingham City aside Man Utd have the 'best' ad loudest away following (and he hates united).  I will agree though that Pompey in my memory have always been loud and plentiful - despite me generally disliking the place and the club for no apparent reason.

Disagree certainly been some european nights this year when St James Park has had alot of empty seats and some league games when they were in poor form.  Sunderland before Keane was there was half full even for first couple of games he was there it wasn't sold out.

I believe the lowest PL was about 50,500. Just under 2,000 below capacity with a half full away end.

The Mackems had less than 18,000 a fair few times.

There were 5000 reported fake tickets so thats 5000 cunts for a start. You'd have though of all the fans in the world these idiots would realise the danger of too many people in a stadium.

That said Policing of English fans generally sucks and Uefa deserve a portion of the blame for the pathetic ticket allocation and ridiculous stadium choice.I really cant see why these things arent alway held in the 2-3 biggest Stadiums in Europe(obviously not at the same time :| )

Love that "we've won it 6 times video" class.

Good posting. Stadiums with an 75,000+ capacity should be used for the European Cup final. It's going to be interesting next year, as the final is in Russia, with a 85,000 capacity, and due to the fact Russia is not in the EU, fans will need visas to get into the country.

At the stadium in Athens, there was NO turnstiles, so as soon as you got through security, you were in the stadium. Great security for the European Cup final.

Disagree Macca, for a club that has been fighting the Yorkshire Police force (legally) about events at Hillsborough you'd think they'd know how to behave in reference to trying to get in to stadiums without tickets.

What is it with this day and age that you can act like idiots but then blame the authorities, take some responsibilty for your actions!

Football, despite what Shankley stupidly said, is not more important than life or death, it's a fucking game and mugging your own fans to watch a match is beyond believe.

I understand where your coming from jan but lets be fair the ticketing was a fucking joke.Let football fans have tickets stop giving them to any old cunt who has posted a leaflet on behalf of fifa then maybe we would never have these problems.

I think a good reason there is more trouble with English teams a nd Liverpool in particular (based on arrests etc) is trhe shear volume of support, no other countries outside of Britain have the numbers travelling, and common sense dictates the more fans that go, the more arrests will be made.

While some of the Liverpool supporters did get a bit out of hand, this is the daftest quote I've heard in a while.

"You must ask yourself why at the Champions League, with the same conditions, there was no trouble with the Milan fans - only the Liverpool fans" William Gaillard, UEFA.

...Perhaps because all the Milan fans were stuck in Italy because of the Al Italia strike?
