I went to see Biffy Clyro at Poxford Brookes. Fantastic gig i have to say. Their albums don't do them justice

have you ever come across belarus redgewell? matt used to work at royal mail with me - i think their first album is coming out soon, used to go and watch them at the vic and furnace - would be weird to see them in the charts! good luck with your email - hope it turns out well.

Cheers axs. I have heard of Belarus. They used to be called Spacehopper I think. Kinda indie rock coldplayish stuff, although I havent seen them in years and years so they might have changed their sound. Hear they are doing well though.

yeah, i've got a cd of their spacehopper stuff which was okish and a 7" vinyl of 2 belarus tracks which are really good. they always sounded a bit ameteurish on shitty sound systems in the furnace and the like but the proper recordings sound good.

Ah nice one. Yeah i advise you not to, unless you want to put music up. It just seems to have been overtaken by spammers and scammers and its getting worse.

on a random tangent - anyone know where i can get a decent XLR cable for reasonable money - all the ones on ebay are going for hundreds or are sold from hong-kong.

None planned as of yet. Haven't done a gig since May '06 actually. We just kinda lock ourselves in a room for 6-8 hrs at a time and write and play really fucking loud and occasionally press record and see what comes out. No one hears what we do unless they check our myspaz which is pretty out of date anyhow. No one comes in and no one leaves. It's kinda like the Willy Wonka factory :)

Thats something i think you may just have to shop around for the best buy. If i was still at college i probably could've got you one cheap... but i cant remember where they ordered their equipment from. Sorry

its for CD-amp rather than a guitar setup - i can't play for shit but i take my listening seriously! i've been looking at Nordost but they still go for silly money second hand and cost the same as my mortgage when new.

I'm not that clued up when it comes to that sorta thing i'm afraid. Have you tried putting 'xlr cable' or the brand of the product into froogle and see what prices it comes up with?

yeah, there's not many people make them, nordost, chord and a few others, all cost hundreds new though and i'm not spending more on the the cable than i did on the cd player! i've got nordost speaker cable and i can actually hear the difference which i didn't expect so i want a quality cable - i just don't want to pay their prices!

and the moon on a stick would be nice too.

yeah cheapest nordost i could find on quick look was just under a hundred squid!

yeah if you can get it for a reasonable price then go for it. 12 squid delivery on top though.

Biffy Clyro are a fucking ace band! good gig Redgewell? on another note i thought Belarus had split up not long ago? they must be back together or have a new line-up

As far as i am aware they have split up... Well i work their "last show" at the Furnace which sold out. Was at the end of Febuary.

Yeah it was ridiculous. I wasn't a massive fan of Biffy beforehand tbh. I've got a few albums but not overly keen. Thought they were alittle too emo at times. A friend bought me a ticket as an early bday present. They surprised me though. Such a stage presence and tight sound. No emo in sight either. I was expecting all tight jeans and fringes but no. Would definitely see them again. How do you put pics up here. I've got a few if you want to see?

yeah i dont think they are very emo at all. they get steriotyped into that catergory really at times. but if you listen to their stuff its nothing like the tripe of Taking Back sunday or someone like that. I have 2 of the albums. the first one (Blackened Sky) and the last one (Infinity Land). i have pre-ordered "Puzzled" as well which is out in a few weeks. yeah if you can put some up that would be ace! you should photobucket them first then get the url for them from there and post them up here. just click on the "img" button at the top when your posting a reply to get the code  8)

i always thought they were more of a cleaned-up grunge than emo, but that just goes to show how out of touch i am.

the first few albums are ace, the singles from the new one sound shit if you ask me though?!

I have ordered the new Biffy Clyro album after hearing the current single on MTV2. I did a look up on Youtube and the actual album version has a wicked minute and a half intro!

Apparently the end of 3 of their songs on the album when played together form another song, hence the name 'puzzle'. Seemingly the lead singer's mum died in 2004 so a lot of the album is about how he felt/feels about it, in fact the song folding stars is about her and is supposed to be the next single.

fucking superb album! i love it! most people on here are not Biffy fans but they have taken their sound a step further with this one! if you are looking for a band not as commercial but fucking excellent then they are just that! one of the best British bands around but they are often overlooked with the "Emo" tag  :-))(

The singer reminds me of Steven Pressley in the video of the single 'Living is a problem'!

no, because they are not. some people seem to think they are though. the shallow "emo people like them so they must be emo types"  :roll: nothing like emo really when you listen to Taking Back Shitday or someone like that

I got the Biffy Clyro album yesterday and it's ace, stuck it on the ipod and listened to it a fair few times at work last night.  8)

It's amazing and getting better at every listen. The best album I've bought this year (so far) without a doubt... til the new oceansize one anyway
