Just got an iPod - the big one not the nano. haven't got a headphone socket on the car radio and I've heard the iTrip's are pants. Anyone got any ideas (or know of an FM-based one that isn't complete rubbish)? cheers

Do you have a cassette player on the car radio. I'm guessing not but if you do you can get a headphone socket (Ipod) to tape (car stereo) thingy for a few £££.

Looked at getting an FM transmitter for my sister at Christmas. The reviews for the ones I looked at varied from superb to utter shit, and that was for the same model transmitters. So I went for the converter.

No it's a fairly basic JVC CD stereo - had the same thing with thr reviews...and mates who've used them - some say they're ok, others rubbish.

Should the aux input be fairly visible? can't see any obvious input sockets...definitely not on the radio itself

I have got a itrip and there is nothign wrong with them.  The best freq i have found to use is 88.  Its when you are using other radio stations freq that you have the problem.

Aren't the iLuv transmitters supposed to be decent?

I remember the gadget show did a group test but I can't remember what came out on top

I could never get on with my Itrip but luckily when I brought my new car the sterio was Ipod ready - its annoying that it doesnt charge the Ipod as well though  :evil:

i have a tape jobbie adaptor,cost a quid from the poundshop and works a treat.but you can get an fm transmitter from the esso garage on dorcan way for a few pounds

I used to use a tape adapter (kindly donated by our very own Chris K) and it did the job. Can't tell you what the sound quality was like because I had a shit stereo and a shit pair of speakers.

iTrip's sound like a total waste of money.

got mine done at sextons manchester rd. they fitted a sony radio/cd player with a lead going to your glove box, plug your ipod in and then u can pick artists and albums etc thru the radio and u get a remote! sound is immense

I bought one that plugs in through the cigar lighter, its pretty good quality as long as your mobile phone is in the boot  :|

I don't use any musical device in the car, instead I think of all the songs I want to listen to and just sing them out loud constantly.  It's handy because then you can just skip to the bit of the song you like, and have automatic volume control, and pause whenever you like without having to take your hands off the steering wheel.
