Title: England B squad. Post by: Rich Pullen on Thursday, May 10, 2007, 17:00:23 Goalkeepers: Paul Robinson (Tottenham), Ben Foster (Manchester United)
Defenders: Phil Neville (Everton), Joleon Lescott (Everton), Michael Dawson (Tottenham), Ledley King (Tottenham), Gareth Barry (Aston Villa), Nicky Shorey (Reading) Midfielders: Owen Hargreaves (Bayern Munich), Phil Jagielka (Sheffield United), Aaron Lennon (Tottenham), Kieron Dyer (Newcastle), Scott Parker (Newcastle), Jermaine Jenas (Tottenham), Stewart Downing (Middlesbrough), David Bentley (Blackburn) Forwards: Michael Owen (Newcastle), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham), Alan Smith (Manchester United), David Nugent (Preston) Any opinions? There seems to be a pretty significant gap in quality with some of those players. Title: England B squad. Post by: Bogus Dave on Thursday, May 10, 2007, 17:03:57 Theres 7 england regulars in that squad. I thought the objective of this game would be to give the untried a run out
Title: England B squad. Post by: Northern Red on Thursday, May 10, 2007, 17:04:14 aka the playing-for-a-place-in-the-full-squad England team...
I assume this is everyone who's not playing for Liverpool (Champs League), Man United and Chelsea (FA Cup Final). Gives us a chance to see how badly we'd miss Lampard (hopefully not at all) and how good Lennon is on the right wing (not Gerrard) Title: England B squad. I'd have said the only first team starters are Robinson, Hargreaves and Owen (who hasn't played for 12 months!), maybe Lennon as well. It's missing the entire starting back 4, Lampard, Gerrard and Rooney (that's 7 out). Title: England B squad. Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Thursday, May 10, 2007, 17:08:28 Owen needs games so not surprised to see him in there. bit surprised to see Robinson in there though
Title: England B squad. Post by: Bogus Dave on Thursday, May 10, 2007, 17:08:50 I counted
Robinson King Hargreaves Lennon Downing Owen Defoe Could possibly include Neville in that list aswell, as they are always regulars in the england squad. We all know what they can do aswell. Why not give someone like agbonlahor or lita a go, concidering its only a "b" team game anyway Title: England B squad. Post by: Spud on Thursday, May 10, 2007, 17:10:25 Stewart Downing!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Title: England B squad. Post by: flammableBen on Thursday, May 10, 2007, 18:44:31 WTF? They've started up the England B Team again? Why? England Friendlies are shit enough as it is. Surely you could use this squad in one of them.
Not that I can even be arsed to watch full England Internationals any more. Something radical needs to happen. Like appointing Andy King as Manager. Title: England B squad. Ooh good shout Ben Title: England B squad. Post by: reeves4england on Thursday, May 10, 2007, 20:50:23 Don't put Lita in the England squad! If Jerel Ifil can mark him out of a game he's hardly up to international standards is he!
Not that Jerel is bad but y'know... Title: England B squad. Post by: Rich Pullen on Thursday, May 10, 2007, 20:51:46 Quote from: "reeves4england" Don't put Lita in the England squad! Post by: lebowski on Thursday, May 10, 2007, 20:55:21 it would be interesting to see joleon lescott at left back and david bentley on the right wing.

Post by: lebowski on Thursday, May 10, 2007, 21:06:02 speaking of lita, about 2 months ago there were reports in the press of him moaning to the fa about players diving to earn freekicks and penalties - i seem to remember a good deal of his bristol city career was spent falling over in the penalty area.
Title: England B squad. Post by: Simon Pieman on Thursday, May 10, 2007, 21:10:54 Lita should be in the squad though...
Title: England B squad. Post by: McLovin on Friday, May 11, 2007, 08:24:42 I assume Kevin Nolan is injured...
Title: England B squad. Post by: mattboyslim on Friday, May 11, 2007, 09:17:57 No Nolan and Kevin Davies (WTF!) haev been reported to ahev eben ignored. IMHO Nolan is worth a run out - consistent midfielder who scores a few - perfect chance to pla him. Dunno if some of the U21 players were excluded cos of the championship in the summer?
Title: England B squad. Post by: Rich Pullen on Friday, May 11, 2007, 10:38:52 If Jagielka and Shorey are in there then Nolan should have been to. Simple as that.
I would have liked to have seen another striker in there but I'm no fan of Kevin Davies... We need a goalscorer not another "big guy that can hold the ball up" type forward. Title: England B squad. I think their of a similar standard, maybe barton just shades it, but nolan doesnt go round beating the fuck out of fans, youth team players or team mates and just gets on with playing Title: England B squad.
