Title: Jamie Vincent
Post by: DV on Sunday, May 6, 2007, 11:12:46
...better centre half or left back?

I think since he's come in for Williams he has been superb, big shoes to fill and only once or twice has anyone uttered the words 'we miss williams' so fair play to Vincent for that.

Done a steady job but generally doesnt get any recognition for it.

Well done Jamie!

Better centre half, he's been immense.

Yep, really excelled at centre back with Jerel. Williams absence could have been a real spanner in the works, but fair play, JV really stepped up to the plate

Centre back definitely seems his best position.

He looks lost when playing left-back, doesn't like to get forward too much. Centre back is just the right position for him.

He's been brilliant for us at centre half. Keep him on for next season, even if it's as back up.

I personally don't rate Nicho so Vincent back to left back for me. New centre back in the summer.

Defo centre half, and i think Nicho can definately do a job for us. Yesterday, Nicho was quality, especially in the air clearing corners/freekicks etc

Agree with that Ted. Looked perfectly capable against the best team in the league and is also decent enough going forward

Another point, Sturrock likes his full backs to get forward and Vincent just does not fit that model. I think the only future Vincent has got at the club would be at centre half, and that there is not an attacking left back in the bottom two leagues that is substantially better then Nicho

Agreed.

I really rate Nicho.

Plus his long throw ins are a great asset. He is going to father my daughter's children, I tell you.

I've been pleasantly suprised by Vincent's contribution this season, especially at CB. 34 starts from a player with a reputation of injuries was pretty good too.

I also think that Nico has earned a himself new contract. I'd be suprised if Sturrock didn't offer him a 1-year deal at the very least.

Good point about the throw ins. Weren't so handy yesterday as Ince read them well but sometimes they are a great assett. We are best off with Vincent in the middle and Nicho wide

i was impressed with the way vincent was going up in the air with big trev and nicho was dropping off so even if trev did head it on affectively nicho would've been there to mop it up. it worked a fucking treat!

vincent and nicho were ace yesterday

Julian Bennet at Forest.

Nicho deserves to keep his place next year - done really well, but Bennet is class.
