Just coming up to 14 years ago but feels like about 10 days ago. Some very nice shots of Old Wembley as well. Nice to see Kevin Morris and Eddie Buckly there as well. God bless 'em. Great days and a timely reminder of what a fucking great club this can be. Good work fella 8) Title: If any of the playing staff and management are reading... Still remember that whistle blowing. I was the happiest kid on the planet. Title: If any of the playing staff and management are reading... Post by: Mark Hanrahan on Saturday, May 5, 2007, 09:25:02 Funnily enough, emotion-wise, all I recall from the day was an overiding sense of justice being done. It was quite a numb sensation to be honest.
Three years earlier I remember standing in more or less the same Wembley spot and crying my eyes out with joy at the final whistle - I was only 13 and being a Londoner I had put up with so much shit from the locals about my allegiance to Town from as far back as I could remember. To have it all taken away from me (a week or so later)at that age was devastating - literally broke my heart hearing Hodgetts break the news (my uncle playing the radio feed down the phone to my disbelieving ears). Another thing I remember was picking this kid up to shoulder height (he must have only been about five and his guardian that day clearly didn't care too much about whether he saw the action.) so he could watch the Bodin penalty. I vividly recall saying to him "watch this kid - don't ever forget what you are about to see. This is a magical moment..." Next thing, the ball hits the bottom corner, I ditch the kid and bundle my uncle! Beautiful!! I've often wondered what happened to that kid - whether he still supports Town etc. Good God, I'm excited about today! Come on fellas - down let us down. Swindon expects! :P Title: If any of the playing staff and management are reading... Nor am I related to either Brian or Will! Title: If any of the playing staff and management are reading... What great days, that coverage of the civic hall reception nearly brought a tear to my eye. I always remember Gorman singing "it's grand ole team..." and the crowd thinking what the hell is that song! I love that squad!! Title: If any of the playing staff and management are reading...
