If I'm waiting for something to be delivered and leave a note saying to leave my package in a box that I've left outside, would it be left in the box or would the postman ignore the note and take my package back?

Depends if the package needs signing for, if it does (recorded or priority) then it will go back to Calne office, u will need id to pick it up!

If not he postie should just put it in the box  :D

he shouldn't leave it in the box, they're supposed to deliver it but some will.

We're not supposed to 'doorstep' any package.

A red card will be left telling you where to pick it up. Take the card with you. You don't need id then.

Another postie question

My mate lives in Savernake Street in town, where about a year ago they built a new development "Savernake Court".  So now you have

1 Savernake Street
1 Savernake Court
2 Savernake Street
2 Savernake Court etc.

To make matters worse the post codes are 1 letter different.

The problem is my mate recently had his correctly addressed credit card statement delivered to the "court" address instead of "street" the woman in the same numbered "court address" returned the envelope staying not at this address.  So Lloyds then put a stop on his credit card.

Basically he's worried about his England tickets and important post going to this other address.  He's rang up the post office and they said there's nothing they can do about it?

Ralph is this true can the Royal Mail not do anything about such a problem?

if i was him i'd pop round to the same number house he's in on savernake street (instead of court if you get me) and let the tenants know about the problem, at least that way they won't throw away or return his mail etc. other than that talk to your local delivery office and make them aware of the problem.

The misdelivered letter is all down to the postman.

Thats absolute bullshit what he was told when he rang them. My advice would be go to his local delivery office and ask to speak to a line manager or the delivery office manager reguarding a complaint.

He should say that he's very worried about his post being misdelivered to a similar address and could the manager have a word with the postman on that round.

Most good postmen know the surnames of every house on their round and will go by that.

Royal Mail have to ensure that the right mail is posted to the right address, if the mail is correctly addressed and is going to the wrong house, then it is 100% the Royal Mails fault!

Savernake Court - I think i helped build that back in the day.

I hate the Royal Mail - things seem to keep going missing, worst was something that got to my door - I was out they elft a card, I went to collect it from the sorting office it was gone.  I was told it was my fault for not paying for the most expensive shipping option - even though it made it to my door then got half inched by the bastard postman.
