Title: Thread Noir.
Post by: flammableBen on Wednesday, May 2, 2007, 22:27:50
I'm going to do one whilst there are still people on line for a change.

Ace my computers gone slow and I can type faster than it appears on the screen. I used to be able to do that when I was a kiddy on my bbc micro in mode 8.

I wrote my first computer game on that. It was called treasure hunt, there was a big grid and you could move around and dig for treasure. Only one square had treasure if you found it you one. The grid was however many characters wide and high the standard bbc micro graphics mode could take. Probably worked out at about 600. I even used VDU 23 to draw a new stick man character. It was ace. I was only 9.

I also replaced all the data strings in Granny's Garden to swear loads. Happy days.

Anyway back to normality. The classic interesting day sort of question goes I suppose. I'm watching the snooker. Next frame is going to be a decider.

couldn't argue with mine, was 30 mins over at lunch, forgot about it. legged it to car but 2 wardens there and they said don't bother putting more money on, you've already got a ticket.

i used to live in birch street, the parking was a nightmare, couldn't get  a space in our own street so we had to park in the 2 hour bays and always got tickets, regularly complained vehemently to the council but just got 'computer says no' thrust back in our faces. bunch of cunts.

film noir is amazing. given the restrictions under which they were made, it's remarkable just how beautiful they look, how complex and intriguing the plots are, how much depth there are to the characters...

simply marvellous!

what have you ordered?

my monitor is starting to die, going to invest in one of these (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-005-BE&groupid=17&catid=276&subcat=) at some point i reckon

Nothing exciting. Just a molex removal tool so I can put some proper cable braiding on all my wires. Then I'll probably have room inside for the spare fan I have.

Although I'm cooling obsessed now. Have a mini fan on my northbridge, a brand new heatsink and fan, 4 x 120mm case fans and a 200mm case fan on the top of my case. It's the most fans Si Pie is ever going to have  8)

btw sonic I've got the hannsg 19" lcd widescreen and it's the business. I reckon that one looks roughly similar. Although does it have a dvi input? You want one of those really

That be the one. (http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=446N&SearchType=1&SearchTerms=hannsg&PageMode=3&SearchKey=All&SearchMode=All&NavigationKey=44640000)

Make sure you have some good speakers though. These flat panel monitors have crap ones.

I've got a giant 20 something inch old school monitor. If zombies attack then I can throw it down the stairs at them and I'll live a bit longer.

New stuff sucks. Sort of. I am going to have to upgrade eventually.
