Peacock is a legend. I'd say 90% of swindon fans will have not a bad word to say about the bloke. He has been outstanding this season. He's such a good character to have at the club, he's positive and genuinely lovelly

Is he our most gifted player, no, but he has talent. The man also gives 100% effort 100% of the time.

What more can you as a fan ask for.

He's up there with Super Sammy in the legend stakes.

Purely for his passion and workrate.

Not really. Zaaboub is probably our most gifted, just needs to learn how to use it.

Spot on Ralphus.

Supper sammy was also a people person, much like peacock. You can tell they genuinely love the club. We've all heard peacock admitt that too which is always ace to hear. Peacock has such an affect on the other players too. He's brilliant. I never knew I could adore an ex city player so much  :D  I can see why they liked him now too. Top man.

Wednesday fans all said he was not up to Championship standard but he worked and worked and worked.

Just based on that, they liked him.

Right i'm fucked, hence this story, i may have told it before and it may also be one of those "you had to be there" moments, but i love it, and i fucking love the cock since this point.

Okay, me and another Town fan are out celebrating a win, I forget the game, but whatever, it doesn't change the story.

We end up in The Apartment, already cunted, and bump into a load of town players.

We get chatting to Peacock, who basically paid for every drink, and had a proper laugh with him.

We didn't chat football, at least not Swindon, hence probably drinking all night with him.

Anyway, my mate; a bit of history.

He is an ex-pro footballer who was at Liverpool, when Evans was manager, and had the same agent as Gazza ( i forget the name) and was also touted to play in the 2006 world cup.

He was class as fuck, a true John Terry of a centre half who could also play as a central mid and striker. He was once on Sky hitting the bar with a 35yd bender as a striker?!

My friends career was ended at 21 by a pretty bad knee injury, beer and fags.

Remember, he was playing at pro level by 17 and had never been out pissing it up. He does his knee and discovers beer. His career never recovered and his contract was cancelled by mutual consent.

Fucking hell, GET TO THE POINT!

Right, my mate says to Peacock, "I could walk into the town team", he looks at my mate and says "fuck off you fat cunt"!

I WILL have his babies, the bloke is a god. 8)

Bit of an anti-climax eh?

Thank fuck for spell check, that took ages, was a complete waste of time and served zero purpose.

he's a genius. I love him.

I walked past him as I was heading back to my car yesterday, I nearly stopped to say hello and hug him but I refuse to talk to footballers.

Right, getting bored trying to find links now, but i'll drop a clue and let someone else find a  decent link! I won't say his name, for fear that no-one believes how good he was.

In a pre-season friendly, against us, he fouled Sabin in the box to give us a penalty...

You should have done 8) One of the reasons i think he's great is the amount of time he has for supporters,he really doesn't seem to mind having his picture taken or talking to us,he just seems like a really decent bloke, who also works his arse off out on the pitch, got to love that about him :D

GAAAAAH just say his name please!

and i'm with DV on this one, i recon peacock is a major talent, sometimes people put too much emphasis on his 'workrate' and i think perhaps he does a bit i.e. spends too much time tracking back, covering every blade, getting stuck in, than actually using his ability.

from midfeild his passes have real culture to them, the game that sticks in my head is shrewsbury, slotting perfectly weighted through balls into the channels for zaaboub and roberts.

when he's upfront, back to goal, i recon he's a bit wasted and he probably gets frustrated and under-used thats why he pegs it around non stop.

now in midfeild with play opening up infront of him he can use the ball better, plus time runs into the box a la lincoln.

Did he ever play for Woking by any chance?

He did. He had been out for most the previous season with his injury and that was one of his first and last professional games. The name is Paul Steele.

He was offered contracts at Portsmouth, Bristol Rovers, and quite a few other teams in and around the first division, after Liverpool didn't give him Pro terms. However, they all only offered him 1 year deals apart from one club, Yeovil.

He joined Yeovil on a 3 year deal at 17/18 and due to several small injuries and 3 changes of manager got frozen out.

Woking then took him on loan and later bought him. He got injured again very quickly and that was that really.

It's quite sad, because in his first season at yeovil he was constantly getting 8s and 9s, and because of his angry vocal nature captained them several times.

He was being watched by quite a few clubs and was expected to get a move at the end of the season. Before the season ended he got a hernia and at the same time the manager was sacked. He then only played a handful of games for Yeovil and was played in almost every position. IIRC, the manager didn't like him and he moved to Woking.

Since he had his contract cancelled at Woking, he tried a few comebacks, with no fitness and carrying too much weight at Supermarine, mangotsfield and another which i forget the name of. Non of which turned him down, he just didn't have the passion any more.

Last season he was hoping to train pre-season with Town, as he had some contacts, to try to get his fitness back.

However, he ended up getting a good job and had to sacrifice any chance of professional football.

He now just plays - occassionally and normally hungover - for The Nine Elms.

I hope he doesn't read this forum, but he knows i'm a proud friend!

I agree, theres way too much emphasis on his 'work rate' and 'passion'. yes, he has bags full of that, but he also has a quality touch and pass i reckon the best in the squad. he deserves more credit for that, the man is a legend!

If you want a street named after the Cock, maybe in honour of his goal scoring exploits we should call the street

"Peacock Close".

I like the bloke but would not say he was a legend.  It does seem that the word gets over used at times.  He has another 2 to 3 seasons of work to get that status imo.

Peacock is great. Just love his attitude to the game and to the club. Not many players go out to work for the club and the fans but he seems like he genuinely does

Peacock Close would have to have a bar and Post office in it as well.

I agree, he's a hard working favourite of the fans, and I like some of his vision and passing, but he's not been here two seasons yet for goodness sake. Let's see how long he stays, and who's decision it is were he to leave before we get carried away.  Do you not think he might have said all the same things at his other clubs ?

Totally agree.

And when JFW has his babies, their first-born son should be named Drewe.
