Well fucking hell, Mr Bowden was on form today.
He came out to his car afterwards, with about twenty of us still hanging around the carpark (waiting to see Mr Diamandis, incidentally).

I kept asking Mr Bowden if they were going to sign the NDA this week. he dodged the question with a "lets just concentrate on promotion shall we" then someone asked him why he hadn't been on thisisstfc since the right royal roasting he took on there a couple of weeks ago. his response "I've had more of a roasting from a bunch of guinea pigs" was fucking bizarre to say the least.
He then left us a parting shot whilst getting into his car of "see you at Bury... IF you're true fans"
After that nonsense I was left in no doubt that they aren't planning to sign anything any time soon and are crawling to the cover of the close season.

Then saw Sir Seton and James Wills so I asked the same question. Are we going to sign the NDA this week? The answer was a resounding yes from both of them who couldn't emphasise strongly enough that it was in the hands of Clarke Wilmott, and it would be signed this week no problems whatsoever.

Not sure who to believe from two pretty polarised responses on the same straightforward question but I see no reason why Sir Seton should outright lie on the matter. Here's hoping for some good news this week.

Most bizarre....doubt Bowden would know and probably knows nothing about the finances as he just seems another puppet, he doesn't know the difference between his own fantasy land and reality.
Hopefully the Wills were being truthful as they have no reason to lie........unless under orders. I'll just wait for the announcement, an important few days ahead...

The third sport is ice hockey guys, can't say I've heard of any partnership with them though...

If they build a football ground with a speedway track around the pitch I will be fucking fuming. I doubt I'd be alone.

It'd be interesting to see them try and play ice hockey on a football pitch though.

I'm asking her if he said what his plans were as I'm now intrigued..... didn't even know she was gonna be there, proving to be quite useful  8)

edit: His plans are to get all the fans united and attending eachothers matches etc etc.... obviously thinks we all have enough money to pay for speedway, ice hockey and football tickets every week.

The ice hockey starts at 5pm on a Saturday, not exactly ideal is it?

Right their plan is to do a 'sport passport' where by you get an entitlement to a certain amount of each sports matches depending on what grade passport you purchase. Would imagine it wouldn't be cheap though.....

Thankfully there was no mention footy and speedway using the same ground though.

and....just to complete the circle.....we wont be able to fit all of this in the current footprint.....however Im sure Bowden has already decided he will build on the current cricket pitch......probably the athletics track to.......which we cant do.......and back to square one!

How many fans will be interested really? A season ticket for STFC is expensive enough without the added cost of speedway, I really can't see more than a tiny fraction of the support taking up the offer.

Ah fuck it I'm going to shoot some Germans.

the problem with the other plans....ie with housing was the loss of green space and the cricket pitch.

The cricket club have a longer lease and wont move...so you cant build anything there.

Plus, due to some regulation (im sure talktalk knows alot more than me) you have to have a certain % of open green space in each ward....most of Swindon is already on its minimum quota....so you cant build on it.......which is exactly why their first plans didnt work......

To be fair, the idea of a "sports passport" to link all three sports isn't a bad one. Don't see it getting a massive take-up but if it helps promote closer ties between the three sports all well and good. But for someone brought in to "mastermind" the ground redevelopment who so far seems largely to have succeeded mainly in alienating the fans, local councillors and local residents, it's not much to show for six months inflated salary is it? Maybe he's not getting anywhere with the ground redevelopment and is looking for other ways to justify his existence? Remember initially when he first started as well as saying the Trust's plans were fatally flawed (presumably because they actually existed, being written down in a form people can see them is always a mistake) he also said the club would be publishing their own "very similar" proposals at the end of January? Instead he seems to have been focussing on a link-up with speedway so we can cash in on their massive fanbase over Reading way, because, erm, they don't have a football club to support over there. Oh.

Agree withe the notion of a passport, like Paul said, in a Town like this all links between the clubs can be good, however in my experience of the three sports there is a limited crossover between speedway and football (although seeing Bowden schmoozing in his STFC scarf over at Blunsdon makes me feel a little sick), I would say that the hockey crowds are IMHO not the sort of people who would wach the football or speedway from my evelaution fo them - perhaps only on family packages.  It has to be said thought that this bears little resemblance to the ground redevelopment.

Got to say, I'd be quite keen on a joint football/(ice)hockey season ticket.

Only problem being face-off at the hockey being 5pm, could make for a pretty speedy journey to the link centre if Town were playing thet day.

The CG-Link Centre journey is quite easy, as face off is usually 5.45, i do it a few times a year. Its a good evening at the Ice Hockey to be fair.

Mty mistake, when i went out earlier in the season it started at 5,  true though it's a good night out, even if the whole U-S-A sporting experience is a bit false.

If Mr Blodwen mentions this again, you may wish to point him in the direction of Newcastle.

Freddy Shepherd tried the whole Sporting Club Newcastle thing whilst I was living up there and from my recollection it fell fairly firmly on its arse. If poeple want to go to these other sports they will tend to anyway!

The combined football ground/ice hockey stadium would be interesting though, I would love to know what that looks like in his head!
