Title: SCARBOROUGH!
Post by: ronnie21 on Saturday, April 7, 2007, 17:24:52
They have announced that they are going to be compulsory wound-up at the end of the season.  Creditors have pushed the issue due to their CVA failing - they were unable to pay!!!

Don't let this happen to us - GET THIS LOT OUT NOW!! :run:

BBC Radio Swindon's editorial policy on the issue: silence.

The Swindon Adver's editorial policy on the issue: silence.

Of course we're all focused on the promotion push, but the local media sports desks need to wake up NOW and start asking proper questions of the board to ensure we will not suffer the same fate as Scarborough.  I can't believe they are ignoring this.  Promotion will mean nothing if the club goes out of business in the summer.

Agreed, if the board try to renegotiate the CVA I don't see any way they could avoid the 10 point penalty

Without wishing to be blunt, send a fucking letter to the Adver then. I did, and it got printed. The more the merrier. Once they are inundated with letters and e-mails from disgruntled fans, they will be forced by public pressure to do something. So get typing folks!

Posted by a Scarborough fan on the BBC site. Sounds scarily familiar :

Whilst it is encouraging the tenderness that other fans can show towards our plight, the view from inside is altogether different. Almost all the fans have long since become disillusioned with such a poorly run club, that only a few misty-eyed will be crying into their beer tonight. Scarborough's business community has long since given up, tired of been shafted by questionable owners. We, 'chased the dream', before Ridsdale coined the phrase and have paid the ultimate price, the lesson for you all is clearly, don't do the same. Don't let the club fall into sole ownership. Don't pay players too much on long contracts. Finally, and especially, all fans of those clubs mentioned above, should demand boardroom representation - afterall, it's your season ticket money that keeps the club going during the summer, shouldn't this financial investment be backed with a seat on the board? The sword has been hanging over us for years, today it fell. Learn the lessons from it, and you'll be fine, this especially goes to Daggers fans. If you get cock sure and hubristic - 'oh, it can't happen to us', it can, it really can. Get boardroom representation now. It should be a football law.

I like to think we played a small part in their demise by loaning Carlisle Jimmy Glass. I hope you all feel guilty.

Should know how to organise a peaceful protest then, (of the 'homespun' variety no doubt.)
