Title: Watford.....
Post by: Reg Smeeton on Wednesday, April 4, 2007, 16:25:57
.....are the latest club to get  a ground redevelopment....

   http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/w/watford/6525229.stm

Once upon a time we were of a very similar status to Watford....indeed  up until recently we'd played them in more league games than any other club.

I guess they're using the allottments becaus ethe rest is surrounded by building already.

I see the Geordies are at it as well, certainly flavour of the month at the moment.

Must be a considerable amount of cash to be made with these developments.   :--

Im going to move into the allotments "Swampy" style and dig some tunnels.

The people of watford should be allowed to keep thier green spaces, allotments are ace.

Not really worth it increasing it by 4,000. Better to just fork out a bit more money and get it to about 30,000.

No?

We won there 3-2 in 88-89 though in the league; Duncan Shearer scored a screamer and Tom Jones and Bobby Barnes got the others; is that the one you're thinking about maybe?

We drew 2-2 there on 29th December 1990

So it says on there; and Lorenzo scored that day so I guess that's the one.

We were two up at half time through Shearer and Lorenzo; they equalized in the last minute.

Jason Drysdale was playing for them that day.....

haha just read the swindon-town-fc.co.uk write up on him

Quote
After selling Jan Fjørtoft for a ridiculous £1.3 million at the end of the 1994/95 season, McMahon tried to appease the fans by telling them he had signed a marvellous left back for £340,000 from Newcastle.

In truth, Drysdale had never played a game for Newcastle, and it soon became apparent why - he was certainly one of the worst players of the last twenty years - often more a threat to our own goal when attacking than that of the opposition. He made just 42 league appearances for Swindon before being released from his contract.

never a truer word spoken, after he left us his career really hit the bottom

Forest Green Rovers, Aberystwyth Town, Bath City, Mangotsfield United.

Our current youth team coach David Byrne headed that goal from a cross by Drysdale.
