Bad news folks.....this is Blodwyn's work, seems he still expects to be around for a while then.....if its tradition you want, then the diamond has been on our shirts for longer than any other badge.

I'd rather have the 1990 badger back. Failing that, option three (but they all look fucking naff).

Option three has the train in the right place - now make it green, put the football in the corner, put the robin at the top, add soem more colour and hey presto.

I think 3 then. Not sure I like the 1879 on it though. Replace it with the ball which should be removed from the sash. Oh and the robin can move to on top of the train and we can put 'Division X' there in it's place. Oh and the train needs to be green.

What a shame - Years have complaints have been about the return of the OLD badge not the introduction of a re-working. It's far too red. Option 3 is the better of a poor selection.

What's more significant is that they have acknowledged 1879 as our date of being founded!

Personally 1-3 are crap.

Rather keep the one we've got at the moment.

I like them although think we may as well keep the diamond.

They are all much better than the current badge but I dont understand why they have simplified them and taken away the different colours. I would like a cross between 1 and 3 if i had to choose but none of them really do it for me.

Perhaps the club should have asked fans to help design it rather than some company who have no idea what the badge of our club means to us. A great idea to change it, but poor designs.

Why do we need to change at this moment in time?  Who will gain out of this?  Think about it lads, suppliers of print etc. are the ones who will benefit the most.  Does the word Newbury spring to mind?  Let's just leave it to Bill Power, Phil Emmell and the fans rep to make a decision!

  I think its fair to say, that no-one has any idea what the badge means to "us"....judging by the different responses.

  The "traffic sign" badge was designed by some spotty kid from Richard Jefferies School, or something similar.....the lettering was half decent for painting up on walls....indeed a fine example was extant until recently on the wall of the old Clifton Street School.

I actually like option 2 the best, although to be honest dont particulary mind any of the three....however why the gold....I dont get it?

It looks horrible....I know on the shirts it would be on a red background....the outline would look much better if it was black or even green seen as our kits have a touch of green on it...

I dread to imagine the consultancy and designing fee we've paid Dunwoody for designing these. Is this Diamandis's clever way of stealing the Lukas transfer fee.......or am I just a cynic?

i suppose they have cut down on the clours to keep it cheap for printing, but I think this casues some problems - firstly i'm not sure how well the predominately red and white design will show up on a predominately red and white shirt, and I like the gold sash across 3, but who will be able to read white lettering on a gold background (surely that would be more visible in black ?).   Plus the leaves at the bottom (trees at Shaw tip perhaps ?!) seem a bit pointless, and as a pedant I like a nice green GWR train..

I don't like the idea of the league name in the older ones though - the implication of the downward pointing triangle seems a bit like a self fullfilling prophecy to me !

For me, I'd like to see the 1990 one, with 1879 in the top left and a robin perched on the top.

If I get an afternoon of free gimp usage I might try and make one to make the bopard proud..

It's my favourite thing I've ever drawn and will post it again at every opportunity.

It's absurd - the 1990 badge is universally liked - the new one isn't loved by anyone, just seen as a watered-down cheap replica of the old one, which'll cost more and look poor.

I believe we were one of the first clubs to register our badge in 1992/92, many clubs have recently followed suit to do the same - see the new Arsenal badge, it is to give the clubs (and their marketing comapnies/greek advisors) ownership of the use of the crest, stopping unlicensed merchandising etc. The problem with the 1990 badge is that it is basically a bastardised civic crest, so the club don't own it.  i'm sure some decent tweaks would make the old badge 'new' and as such trademarkable, avoiding the problem and the abortion of an attempt that was unveiled yesterday.

I don't mind the badges themselves, the designs are pretty decent and are exactly what I'd like to see...the colours are horrid though, absolutely putrid.

Speaking to people yesterday I think the red train will upset alot of people. Apparently Swindons history is with Great western engines so should be Green. Red represents a company called LMS so the club have dropped a clanger as it doesn't reflect the history of Swindon at all unless the engine is green.

So the board are out of touch with the history of swindon....shock horror

Steve who is always on the train with us is a proper train spotter............when not at footy he sits in the canteen at Gloucester station, he always has a pen and paper with him when travelling to away matches and gets all excited when he see's alot of trains.

 The Westerns were a very tidy piece of kit, but you have to be a bit careful, as the first batch were swindon built and later were Crewe built.

 I have a vague recall of one of the first swindon built Westens being liveried in white.

Here's a glimpse of what kingswood would look like on our shirts.....obviously with kingswood's green clover next to their orange logo.....it's a bit blurry but look's ok to me....

Personally i really like next season's kits, they are a nice design, the badge is not too bad, but i'm not keen on having kingswood as our new sponsors....

get real people, the only reason nationwide sponsored us was to support the teams local to their head offices! there aren't too many clubs outside the top flight (let alone clubs of our size) who had such a recognisable brand as sponsor - we were the exception rather than the rule. now, kingswood construction are paying money to sponsor the team, the benefit for them is increased recognition in the local area, whilst the benefit for the club is they receive a bit of money.

and if rovers do come and their fans do trash the place, at least we should be able to get a good deal on repairs and refurbishments.

MANERF UK Ltd. I used to work for them. It's a German company that supplied tank and marine engines for the nazi's in the second world war.

One of the lads I used to work with had a holiday in Germany and went to see a war memorial with his mrs, the war memorial itself was part of an old destroyed German tank. at the point where it all went quiet as the people there took a moment to remember the lost and fallen, his mrs pipes up with

"ooooooo look James, thats the company you work for!"
